Stock Showcases / Snow Burst 2
« on: July 02, 2006, 11:14:23 AM »
All the AU BB AI parts should be at RFSHQ.com (I think).

You need Megabyte's pack, RFS's hydraulics, HackerX's AU crack pack, ][cer's pack, Snow Burst's plow (which I think comes in the zip), and DarkRat's red and black extenders (which I think are in his second pack).

The new Snow Burst I don't think will be up for dl, I don't think it's quite as fun to play with as the old one, that's just my opinion...also with DSL coming out, I don't want to make something that no one will want to use.

Now if everyone says "yeah yeah release it!!" (which I doubt will happen), I will.
Here's a pic of Snow Burst1 that I dug up from the merky depths of my comp.

EDIT: Does anyone here have Snow Burst and had it work?

You're right, DV, and if anyone should know, it's you.

Maybe I'll hang out ad wait for a while - I'm still having fun with both the original RA2 and the DSL mod.  Maybe some of the stuff I'm building is illegal as heck for "standard" combat, but wtf - it's fun building it ... the possibilities are endless, and so is the destructive potential.

Agreed.  I build things that would never enter any tourney in RA2, but it's a heck of a lot of fun.

about the Beta test thing, from experience, I found that once I got the full version, It was great...but not as great as it could have been if I had waited...I already knew what things were coming, and it kinda ruined the suprise.

Ok, lets get back on topic

Finnaly...I decided to go through with it. I rebuilt Snow Burst...I didn't really skin it. I like how it cam out though.

For all the newbies out there, Snow Burst was a "christmas present" to the RA2 community like 2 years ago...Its a fun to play with super heavy that's up for dl on RFSHQ (you need a lot of stuff for it though).

Here's Snow Burst 2. (does anyone have a pic of Snow Burst 1?...to show the newbies)

Whoa whoa whoa...I don't think they need beta testers right now, you guys probably should have asked before they started publishing it (like what I did with DSL 1.0). It's not a piece of cake either. I had to write a report on what I liked and didn't like and what improvments could be made. Think about what you guys think you might be getting into...It might be better to just wait it out...I certainly am! at this time I wouldn't go to head of the DSL team and be like "OMG CNA I BETA TSET!?!?!" "YOU GUYS ARE TEH AWESOMNES"...That statement was not to offend anyone, just that this is what you guys sound like   . cool your jets. you'll get to play it eventually. That's my 2 cents.

Summary, Beta testing is not the greatest, most important thing in the world...you don't qualify for it, I just happened to jump on it before it officialy started (before CB and FB were part of it).

Ooo, nice bot.  I like the paint job and the roundish chassis.  Not a plain silver box.  If you had that picture on the BuildersDB when I was looking for replica ideas a while back, I probably would have made it.  Even so, Primus might be a for-fun project after DSL.

Eggbeaters are very easy to make in DSL 2.0, and very effective weapons.  Much more powerful than drums, although less durable.  I'll see if I can get an example posted.

I'd be honored, lol.

Eggbeaters should not be less durable than drums...I mean, who has a drum made out of solid titanium? anyway, I guess I could understand how it would be less durable in the game...shouldn't be though, lol.

Man, If you made Primus, that would be freaking awesome, lol...I'd be like, "hey guys, looks! my bot's in a computer game!". ok I'll stop talking now.
*cough*when is this coming out??*cough*

GIMME YOUR MSN ADDRESS I WANNA PLAY 2vs2 MATCHES WHEN THERE ISN'T ANY LAG AT ALL!!!!

512mb is vuuucking badass bandwith. I have only 512/512 kbps.

Oh sh** did I say mbs. lol, I meant kbs...I think it's more though, it's a cable connection...so I'd assume it's prolly 700-800 (it's pretty freaking fast [if you live in the same state there is usualy no lag at all]) I can host Halo games with people barley getting lag.

I'd reccomend you live in NY, but I'd be willing to give it a try...my MSN is dinovenger(at)earthlink(dot)net

I can host.

I have a 512 (at least) mb cable connection that has a faster upload speed than download speed.

That is one sweet eggbeater man! can I buy it from you? lol.

Yeah I've actually made a few eggbeater robots in DSL 1.0...I used "extra strong" flipper makers and stacked them to their limit on a "extra strong" motor, nice result. I made the parts though  .

Hi, guys ... wanted to find out if anyone had any of the old components that were listed on AceUplink before the site shut down.  I have about half of them on this list ...

http://www.freewebs.com/robot_arena/downloads.htm

... but there are several I don't have, and would like.  If anyone has the ones from AceUplink or any discontinued site, please let me know, as i'm always on the lookout for new parts to play with

Thanks, and I appreciate the help.

http://www.gametechmods.com has all the the downloads from RA Reborn...lots of stuff, you just have to look a bit to find them.

Eh, not your best, but still very nice.

I think if I could change anything on it it would be the size of the disc or the height of the lexan top plates, something on it looks out of proportion.

Very nice paint job and replica nontheless (just throwing in some constructive critisicism). Can't wait for the release!

You don't need skills to build a bot, just patience.

I don't have skills or patience...and I still build bots (they suck though).

Ruiner looks real spiffy Mike. Can't wait to see it compete (someone better take videos.

Sorry, I just fixed that.

It's no problem  . I just found it annoying that 2 People confused dominator 2 with Suicidal Tendencies.

Here's a good pic:

Its the one with treads.  Judging by the other previews, this is going to be an awesome replica.

NO! It's not the one with the treads...It's the one with the hammer.

That, if I'm not wrong, is Dominator 2.

And you are wrong...that is Stinger, and suicidal tendencies.

Edit: I just got back home and was going to test the bot in battle and the bot is gone because the program crashed befor I saved because I used alt tab to just minmize the program.  I need to stop doing that. :(

AHHH I hate when that happens! I try tobe careful, but when I accidently click on a white box...oh i cant even discuss it.

Nice bot, inovative design...I would use DSL discs with teeth though.

Help with out english a engine need a fuel like gas a moter uses electicity to run.  Dont worry most people who only speak english dont know that it just bugs me.

Eh, they're interchangable...I hear people call Engines motors and motors engines all the time.

and about that dudes questions...you pretty much covered it but I'll add a few things.

1-Horizontal spinners just do that, when you hit an opponent, you get hit the other way...that's just how phisics works, no teeth or motors can fix that problem...but the heavier the blade assembly is, the harder the impact will be and the greater the damage you'll get out of it.

2- The Darkcell batteries are located in C:/programfiles/infogrames/robotarena2/components
In the file you will find a .txt document called "Dark Battery"...Open it...you will see one of the values says "Hidden=1"...Delete that line, save and you're set. Open the game and have fun with your uber cheating (but still fun) batteries.
EDIT: OH you also have to have DSL for this to work.

Hope this helps.
