As good as the old Ripper is, I prefer the latest Ripper, it was easy to get to it and photograph it for the textures and in my opinion it is the most suitable for the pack.
This version isn't actually the one that won the championship, the version that did I will begin working on shortly in the form of Dystopia
On the right, is my poor representation of Ripper MK3, the middle is Ripper MK5/Ripper Evo (which is a completely different robot from Dystopia before anyone tries saying different) made by Wham for the Roaming Robots pack and on the left is Ripper MK7, built in 2013 and I don't think I need to tell you who made it!

So, your point is?

By the way, I'm permitting suggestions for a bit, are there any robots you lot think I am missing out that truly deserve to be in the game from being a significant part of Robot Wars History?
How about this one?

Also off topic question. What is the difference between the RW and RL arenas?
RL has a proper CPZ is the mainly noticeable difference in terms of plan. I think RL only has a pit - whereas RW has a flipper, flame jets and angle grinders. Also RW has 3 sides where OOTAs are near impossible (back and each side). However the sides are only covered for 2/3 of the distance. The remaining side is exposed. RL has one side exposed, with 3 sides with very high fences where OOTAs are possible with the most powerful of flippers (Dystopia, Ripper, Manta, ect). Each arena has several variations (such as a small scale version), but thats the main stuff i see. Also the general atmosphere outside the arena is completely different

That's not offensive. "It's not a Plunderbird clone if the claw actually works" would be offensive.
Actually to some roboteers it can be very disrespectful. Very few roboteers create a robot in order to emulate another design, we all want oyr robots to be unique and treated as such. To some people saying their robot is just a copy of another can be very disrespectful to their own design. Often we try to optimise our designs, this can lead to many robots having similar features, not because they copied each other but because they are good enough engineers to constantly rework their robot till its perfect. By saying that they just copied someone else after all that hard work can be disrespectful

Against Plunderbird, the flipper did seem to be quite intensive. Though not to the point where it was extremely unrealistic. I mean, Wheely Big Cheese pulled off a flip like that.
Dystopia does genuinely have that much power. The flipper has 2 flipper "Settings", effectively a high and low. The "high setting" gives power at the expense of gas, the "low setting" saves gas at the expense of power. The mod is representative of the "high setting". To see the full power of Dystopia, watch the video below. That said i tend to use the "high setting" in real life sparingly, because it wastes gas. I only used it at this time because it was one of my first few events with Dystopia and i was still learning how to use it most effectively. At this time i thought of it as more being a "Flip" and "self-right" setting rather than how i do now as an "OOTA" and "General" setting.

http://youtu.be/arDqI19LzTE?list=UUHqKqP2BrCRUObCsvzRxTUgA quick demonstration of Dystopia in-game. Ive been helping out trying to get the ground clearance, power and the way it physically behaves just right for Dystopia in game. Plus also i helped rework the initial wire frame to make it a near exact match to the real Dystopia. Hopefully with HBs work this should combine to make the most realistic robot possible for the game, and hopefully you all enjoy it once its realised. Note: Unfortunately the lighting in the arenas used is alittle dark. The final look can be seen in the preview and also in the screenshots HB has already released.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but have you really been contacting the guys that made each robot and saying "uhhh yes my name is hereticblue from the renowned website gametechmods.com, do you mind if we recreate this robot for this mod we're making in our free time for no monetary profit, in this 10 year old game practically NOBODY has heard of?" Would that be correct? Or am I just misunderstanding something here?
 Erm, yes

Dystopia looks great, but I'm not really much of a fan of the robot itself. The paint job feels abit tacky.
Its actually very deliberate, and is part of the theme of the robot. (Wiki "Dystopia" if you have never heard of the word) Its something people either love or hate. Some love its origionality, whereas some think the way others do it is better. The sign writing is based on guerilla warfare, where they often hand paint the faction on the side of commandered trucks and so on. Being in a Dystopia it can be assumed forced labour or so on was used to create these enforcers (Dystopia actually also has a serial number, meant to imply others exist within its home dimension). However some think that stickers simply look better, are more easily read and are generally more effective. Which i agree totally with, however i wanted to go against convention. It would have been alot easier to use stickers, but then again everyone else uses them and i wanted Dystopia to stand out. The same reason goes as to why i havnt as of yet repainted it. It looks like its been through a war, it looks like its been through armageddon, and thats exactly what a Dystopia could be described as :) - I dont like the yellow and green which for some random reason appears to be under the current paint, but when i see that i get out a sharpie and colour it in, so that way i keep the scratches and the peeling effect. Ill respray the scoop over Winter. Tbh i dont like how the police badge has faded away (Its now actually insulation tape cut to size on the robot), and the arm in general is getting to the point where there are more holes than paint, but still i like the rest of the body - even down to the re-welded part of the armour panel with no paint and burn marks surrounding it (Blue side). Also another good part of the theme of the robot is it give me a really good excuse to do this (see attachment)

I remember at Colchester Thor smacking down into dystopias insides sending sparks flying... Yeh whenever Dystopia seems to fight Thor it cuts out and i cannot work out why. Funny thing is it only happens when i fight Thor (fighting Titans fine). I think it just shakes everything about so much it breaks a connection. Often just a quick reset and she works perfectly again. Could be the Link, Receiver, Batteries, or even the Speed controller. But ive never been able to reproduce the problem other than when fighting Thor, so i have no clue how to fix it. I have on the plus side fixed the armour panel falling off problem (for now), as Thor axing inside was scary - Especially as it cut out whilst pushing Thor, so he thought i was still active.
