General Support / Extending Chassi
« on: February 23, 2013, 10:03:45 AM »
Hi, i sucesfully managed to extend my chassi a little bit further then your suppose to be able to do in the design part by editng the bot file. When im in the workshop i can see that my chassi long. But when i enterpractice arena (Or any arena really) it only shows the maximum length that u would have in the design part.  Why is it only visible in the workshop, that my chassi is longer, while in combat its not there? And can you fix it?

Discussion / Re: Battlebox Arena Update
« on: February 23, 2013, 02:59:24 AM »
Someone needs to just redo the battlebox because it is so laggy and could be way simpler.
Indeed. I mean, my suggestions to reduce the lag would be to-

- Have the Pulverisers made to work they way they do in the Half Circle and Octagon Arenas, smashing down once then retracting rather than staying down like they do there.
- The Hellraisers removed, since they don't do a great deal other than annoy people.
- The Killsaws could be forced up less powerfully so that they don't spaz about everywhere when anyone tries to use them, which in turn would reduce lag.
- Most importantly however, the Spike Strips from what I've heard, use individual collision meshes, which no doubt eat up the required memory. If they used one long collision mesh for each Strip, maybe that'd work better?
The first one wouldn't reduce the lag but the other three would.

I agree that the Battlebox Arena is in need of updates but I'm not going to do anything about it for the same reason that I'm not updating the RW Arena. It is a big job with little reward consider that the arena has already been made once. I'm also busy with a few other projects ATM and nobody has taken me up on my offer to co-work on them (it doesn't matter how much modding experience you have because I would be more than willing to teach you).

In that case i would like to help. I just love learning new things. How much help i would be i dont know though :P

Thats what i like eith the arena. Its very realstic made. Indivdual spikes SUPER! Unlike most of the saws. These actually spins. but they dont seem to do much damage. They just make the bots fly. The heckraisers wich i assume is the flippers in the middle is a hazards. Dont leave any hazards out. But yeah i rather have screws then heckraisers that i can agree. So any1 up to the job? any1 with the knowledge and skill?

You think its laggy? Omg. I dont think any arena is laggy. I tried using school somputer and play on 1 of my favorite arenas Cave arena. Now thats laggy. But i dont have any lagg on my computer. So i think my computer would be able to handle screws. Could someone upload a version with screws please.

That is exactly what Hax mode is. You can learn how to do it here:

Geez. Thank you. It looks like really advanced and its not that simple. It might work in some cases but its not simple enough, though great for small stacks etc.. if ur robot looks like the 1 in the examples. ISnt there any way to actually make a mod so that u can overlap components? Couldnt it be as simple as uploading some custom files wich allows that? That would be great.

Yes, thanks i actually had something useful from it. But id still need a complete mod for adding components even when they are red in the bot lab. Example i have component wich i want to place on the chassi. But a battery is in the way. Even though the component is red, when i click it whould attach. My problem is not what i described in my example. It was just an "example". I need a mod more like that thank you.

Hey! I know this maybe doesnt belong as a new thread here and im sorry if it bothers you. I was wondering if someone could update the battlebox arena so that it has:
1. The screws. The screw was 1 of my favorite hazards along the killsaws. I would really appreciate if some1 could add them.
2. Battleroyal gamemode. So far, you can only play 2 bots at the same time on it. I would like if you could play all 4 on the arena.

I have included the arena as an attachments. Not that i think u need it but just in case.
Just remember to cut out the BATTLEBOX_2_0.py and put it in the Arenas folder. The BATTLEBOX_2_0 u put also in the Arenas folder.

I must say its fair easy to use. it even gives u components list from first put and last put order. It works in most cases but it would be really cool if u were to just remove the overlapping feature in the bot lab. so even though a component is red, it can still be attached. Is there any possible way of doing that?

Type out the following in proper-case:

I SOLEMNLY SWEAR THAT I WILL NOT USE BOT FILE EDITING ON ANY ROBOT THAT I ENTER IN A TORUNAMENT

Good?  Good, now here's what you need.  Keep in mind that this only works if you have a good txt flie editor like Notepad++ and not regular old Notepad

Whenver I'm trying to use treads, the second one always gets flipped, there must be a right side and left side for the treads. in the case its not how do i use them? In general allot of components in dsl would require a flipped version of it. (Etek Drive motor for example). Please tell me how to use these treads!  :vista:
