Real Robotics Discussion / Re: WTF Moments in Robot Combat
« on: February 25, 2016, 09:52:12 PM »
I know it's been nearly two years since anyone's posted here but I'd thought I'd restart this thread again considering the revival of robot combat shows on TV.
If King B Powerworks was known for anything it's for going nuts and pinballing around the Robot Wars arena.

Skip to 11:05 for the King B Powerworks vs 101 fight.

Boy it's been a while since I've been here, lotta dust.  Anyway I decided to tweak some of my designs I've had for my bots, the first being my middleweight Spectre.  I designed an entirely new flipper for it that is more efficient at getting under the lowest of robots, can cause damage, better at self righting, and is a lot less gaudy looking.

I know this focuses about bots armed with an axe weapons, but I'd like to know if hammers/sledgehammer type weapons are permitted.

This is a little embarrassing to ask considering how long I've been here, but does anyone know where to find the download for 2.2?  Reason being I've been using 2.1 for ages and I guess I never knew about the 2.2 update.

Also on another note are Behemoth or Mortis styled robots allowed?

I got a Bluetooth speaker for my iPhone, a pair of NASCAR DVDs (one on Richard Petty, the other on Hendrick Motorsports), a Frost Guard for my truck's windshield, a few gift cards, two pairs of blue jeans, $120, a classic muscle car calendar, and tickets to a Monster Jam monster truck rally at Cowboys Stadium.

It was fun to watch Slammin' Steel in it's first tourney.  Hopefully it does better in the next one considering how well it performed.

I'd love to see an updated version of M.O.E. take on Tombstone.

Well it's certainly been a long time since I've ever posted in this sort of thread but since I finally got Ironforge working I got to building and experimenting with designs in order to shake off the rust.  I think I'll start off with my first decently designed robot called Beyond Driven.  It is a four wheel drive robot that has a skirt wedge and lifting arm up front consisting of iron spikes and a pair of crushing teeth at the top to prevent opponents from going up and over the top and as a back up it has a ramming bumper made of four crushing teeth in the rear.

Strengths - Low ground clearance up front, great pushing power, well protected

Weaknesses - Wedge and lifting arm are useless when inverted and exposed wheels

The BattleBots Website has been updated, with a new picture inside the Battlebox:

I think the hellraisers are back if you look closely.

Are those yellow circles on the floor spikes? or sensors?
Does anyone know?

Personally I can't wait for the first sucker who gets stuck up under the Pulverizers.
