DSL TC Showcases / MrRoboto's JAS: Just Another Showcase
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:07:59 PM »
well...

-Snow job is relatively harmless, damage-wise.

-My bot was constantly flipped by Snow Job.

-Bob was acting strange in the middle of the fight... just stopped doing things until the countdown thingy began.  after than he rejoined the fight.

-Slap happy got so many points from Snow Job Smacking into his large weapons.

I made a servo arm type bot in my showcase.  However, yours is way more better.  How balanced is it?

Mine was suckyer...

Wooden Wonder's run was fun.  I enjoyed myself.  Can't wait for the next one.  (if there will be.)

Its also good to see the event admin. bounced back.

My Micro Mayhem contender,
Wooden Wonder

It was made before the showcase.  Looking back at it, It had many flaws.  It used both a baseplate anchor and a t-connector, both wastes.  Too much empty space.  Too slow.  Not even invertible.

So i made an upgrade:

Meet Wooden Wonder, Part Deux

The vertical version looks quite nice and unique.  Reminds me of a windmill, only deadlier.  The horizontal one has a much better weapon system, though.

lets just waste post space Right???

The whole flame war is a waste of post space.  This is a showcase.  For bots.  What the heck does post count matter, anyway?

Roboman didn't cause any problems, at least that I can see.  He tried to give you simple advice.  It didn't work.  You got P.O.'d at him randomly.  if it doesn't work, move on.

This type of intolerance vexes me to no end.  I just don't get it.  Lighten up.  If this continues, don't expect me to help you out anytime in the future.

It ain't a popup.  Its actually an unorthodox whammer/ side hammer hybrid.  Pretty innovative.

The razors on the hammers seem to make the bear claws useless, other than that, quite nice.

The Bot Weight Challenge:

Basically, it would be a series of 6 packs each made up of a single weight class. (AW, BW, LW, ect.)  The goal is to put your bots to the test to see if they are capable beating all of the bots.

I though it would be more good for the non-standard weights, because in DSL, there's like, 3 AWs and BWs.  you beat them.  Not as impressive as say, all the LW, MW, or HW.

It would be a pretty big and ambitious project.  What do you think?

I use chewblades. More durable than saws, without normals.  And you can stack them to make drums.

I'd rather not see you go.  I find, your personality, bots, and love for anime both cool and unique.  Maching you in hamachi was a blast.

Don't get angry at your self for messing up, even if it is something like a tournament.  Everyone seems quite tolerant, even willing to of with, your mistakes.  I mess up a lot. Heck, I f*** up at least once a day.  Yes, I do get frustrated. But if every one is happy with your mistake, what is the to be mad about?

This was my first tournament.  I don't want to see it die.

I see, you mounted the hammers vertically.  But why?

I would have them horizontal, allowing for smaller wheels.

Hmmm... I'm undecided.

The head set is only good if everybody has one, I believe.

As for the machete, I don't know.  Its not like you can carry it around or anything.  Maybe its like a disco ball or a lava lamp- It looks awesome in the store, but once you buy it, its not so hot.

Looks nice.

The 1st HW reminds me of my Needs Moar Saws II- Weapon Overload

The 3rd MW... is that a flipper?

Reier seems quite right, those overkill wheels are pretty massive.  What weapons did you use, hammers or battle axes?

Roboman is relatively correct, perhaps your just not quite following him.  Take a good look a grog the vengeful or iron spaghetti.  simply attach an extender of some sort on the top of your spinner, so it dosen't land flatly on it's spinner.  Personally, I'd reccomend a poly skirt-type extender.  I'm guessing a good rule-of-thumb for the length would be equal to the radius of the spinner, or longer.

Then again, the examples I've mentioned are disk spinners, not bar.  General logic would say a bar is less likely to land flatly on the ground, and thus not needed

Anywho...
The bot does seem quite unique.  How well do the axles work?
