Tournament Archives / Re: Battlebots X SBV« on: April 04, 2015, 09:19:51 PM »
Not sure how my LW's first match will go seeing how its weapon motor is exposed from the top, but if it can catch its opponent's hammer and keep under it then I should win.
Not sure about my MW's first match-up either because the first charge could result in a crippling blow to either robot. Either SH will take off part of PoI's supports leaving it helpless, or PoI will take off either or both of SH's weapon racks exposing its chassis for PoI to destroy. Aviator H can certainly win its first match, but only if it tears off its opponent's wedge quickly. Even with 5mm titanium armor, I'm not confident AH's chassis can withstand repeated hits from (what I assume to be) Blitzkrieg's weaponed flippers. How Thunder Rage's first match goes depends on the speed of its opponent. I don't know how much damage those S3 discs will cause, but once TR gets up to speed, it's very hard for slow robots to stop. 23

I have a LW and a MW that are pretty much ready, the LW just needs to be skinned and the MW needs some AI fine-tuning. I have a HW that I'm considering, but at the moment it doesn't look that good and is honestly very tryhardy. I have no idea what to do for my SHW entry.

Ah yes, this takes me back, not to the beginnings, but to the days of a thriving RA2 community without corrupt officials. I can hardly believe it's been only 5 years since then either, Badnik.
the flail HS i made out of your FBS in BTTB3 still haunts me as one of the worst robots ive made XDIf G4W wins its first fight, then it should give SC a quick death, if that makes you feel better. ![]() On the other hand, NF's got a multibot 1st round... that's gonna be a problem. Even if I destroy the first one in one hit I don't think NF can turn quickly enough to face the second one. 25

Welcome back madman!
I'm confused as to how the first one can be effective against gutrippers; its wedges don't look like they can get under much. Also what's the point of the two razors on the Perms? They're not going to protect anything or cause any damage in that placement. I don't really know what to say about the TRFBD since I've never made one myself, but I imagine it's very deadly given that it has the same weaponry as RPP. Speaking of which, how well does it do against flail SnS? 26
DSL TC Showcases / Re: RedAce's DSL Network« on: March 08, 2015, 03:10:24 AM »
Maybe something you can try for the SnS is to make the hammers perpendicular to the motors by attaching the outer CF extenders to the side APs of the inner CFs. Then wire the robot to spin so the ends of the hammers hit first. When I tried this on V.M. Worker, it seemed to cause more damage than when it hit with the broadside of the hammers.
Not sure about the rammer. If I remember correctly, Erebus had trouble driving straight because of the weird NPC collision meshes. I don't know if yours has the same problem, but apart from that it looks okay... and yes, #bringbackclashcubes 27

More Panda Monium: I personally hate the robot this was based off of, but you did a decent job of replicating it. I do agree with you in that the top skin looks off.
The YTPer: Nice. Though I feel like this needs bottom supports for the spinner. 28

I would like to request Diamond Miner 7 vs Vrykolakas w/ hazards off. Maybe this time a fight between WB and one of my machines will have a clean result.

Can't believe I'm the only one (besides the creator of the Ghetto Skin Pack himself, of course) to use components from either of the two skin packs allowed for this tournament.

ooo it's been a while since I entered one of these!
Definitely going to enter this once it enters the signup phase. In the meantime, I'm off to go build some new bots. 35
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Thrackerzod is bad at DSL« on: February 07, 2015, 09:54:39 PM »
It seems underweaponed. I would suggest downgrading to SlimBody motors and then shrinking the chassis. That should give you enough weight for a few more weapons.

So it's ReFraction with more armor over weapons? Still looks pretty solid, but I don't understand why you're using a skirt hinge for the wedge.

Contests / Re: Vote BOTM Feb 2015« on: January 29, 2015, 05:46:18 PM »7- It's very cool, looks like something from the Beetlebros but I am feeling it is an Ounce bot instead. If only it was built by one of the Beetlebros... Definitely not mine though. I don't enter BOTM because I'm the worst visual artist in the world and can't make a visually appealing splash or bot. On top of that I don't really build rammers either. Still, #7 does have a cool looking, if inefficient, drive setup, and I'm torn between it and a few other entries here. Ultimately however I give my vote to #4. 38

MW's an interesting take on a gut-ripper. If you haven't already, download the Starcore v3 AI pack and pit the MWs in the pack against yours and see if it works.
The LW HS looks okay except for the drive setup. Mount the drive motors to the sides of everything else, and swap the mini wheels for shinies. Unfortunately the chassis won't be as space-efficient as it is now, but the invertibility you'll gain might be worth it. For the side hammer, use different weapons like razors, since blades aren't very good for causing damage. If you attached your snappers using a T-connector, that will make them in-line with each other, getting rid of the need for asymmetrical arms. 39

Not bad for a first bot.
![]() If you're going for a gut-ripping HS like T-400 Infiltrator, then it might be a good idea to give it something to aid it getting underneath bots, like a chassis wedge. I don't think the plows would be able to do this, at least with the setup you have right now. |
