Huge Dark Forces fan (Russ gave me one of Pounder's shells)- I love them. I'll have to show Russ the images some time.

150g undercutter. I'm sure you can tell what the inspiration is from.

My dad takes pictures of every event we go to. Here's a picture he took of your bot:

Update: Motorama is really cool!

In the first round, Angore beat Bagel Beast because their spinner wasn't working.  Then, it lost to Rambo, which was a faster and wedgier wedge than Angore.  Then, it beat Badnik's Spinjitsu.  Finally, it lost to Wedge of Allegiance, which was also faster and wedgier than Angore.

Overall, I'm pretty thrilled I managed to win anything.  Would do again!

Oh hey, I didn't know you were a GTM member. Glad you had a great time!

-The flipper doesn't reach the floor. Is there a way to fix that?
-The insides are exposed once the flipper is open. Would there be a way to get a removable plate in there to protect them more?
-Before putting the final transmitter in, could I use an R/C car transmitter just to ensure that it works?

Thank you in advance.

1. UK antweight builders use a sheet of acetate to make a floor-scraping wedge. MikeNCR used pop rivets and shoe goo to attach a wedge onto his:

2. Builders don't normally do that. Just remember to close the flipper when you think you're going to get hit by a spinner.

3. If the transmitter works with the Nanotwo(?) ESC, then use it.

Real Robotics Discussion / Re: So, why do we all hate Chomp?
« on: January 02, 2017, 04:48:42 PM »
I thought Chomp was a really cool bot that was targeted by angry people on the internet instead of the new judging criteria

saltiness that DoI didn't win or get a wildcard. I can see at first glance why someone could consider it a sub-par bot, seeing as it ends up flopping like a fish half the time and its sole means of self-righting look really flimsy (I'm honestly surprised it took until Yeti to get one of those wings knocked off). The only issue I personally have with anything Chomp-related is that the loser of Chomp v. DoI should have gotten a wildcard slot regardless of who won (and I do honestly believe that fight could have gone either way had PRIMARY WEAPON not been such a huge factor).

Gonna disagree with that. DoI's weapon died after a single hit and only got a few lifts in. The producers didn't want a box on wheels with a broken spinner, so they made the decision to not give it a wildcard.

Currently working on rebuilding Denise:

Another builder offered to sell me the wedge from his 150g bot Mango Farmer (Yes I messed up the mounting holes, but they will be fixed).

A UHMW frame, with polycarbonate top and bottom. Like Mango Farmer, the motors will be glued in to place. I have yet to CAD the wheels, but the bot is about 112g right now.

I've been playing RA2 with the steam controller and it's quite fun.

For the record this is the scoring system for this season:

Damage - 1 point

Control - 1 point

Strategy - 1 point

Aggression (with an active weapon) - 2 points

So i just watched the first episode of the 2016 version, and Razor again throws himself in while trying to put another bot in the pit. really his curse haha

about the cold issues:
5 mins before the match letting the flamethrowers warm up the arena haha (a)
Again? don't think that happened before. Also speaking about spoilers, should they even be used in this thread at that point? I feel it leads to people overlooking way too much posted stuff.
That would make the arena temporarily warm but sadly wouldn't work for the Co2 bottles that are inside the robots and already cool from the workshop.
Vs Tornado in the series 6 (?) grand final, when tornado was using it's bullsh** cheat ring of aids.

And high power VS like carbide hit themselves just as hard as the other bot, so assuming it could take hits from carbide fine, a knockout or push into the pit wouldn't be out of the question.

Are you honestly still bitter about what happened over a decade ago? It's not worth getting upset about.
