During making some tests, in order to find some good concepts for my BBEANS entry, I tested some old designs, we did some years ago. Again the same story: what should be a MW ended up to be a HW. Buhuhuu.
![]() Mace Mincer: A real VS/HS hybrid. NPC fast for drive, 1 perm 80 (hoizontal) and 2 npc fast (vertical on a disc) for weapon, 12 maces on trybars, 2 orange batts, titanium armor. But the concept is promising enough to be posted anyway. At least Behemoth did not appreciate the encounter. I was not able to destroy it completely, but his parts are spread out all over the arena and it had only one wheel left. You can see the rest of the chassis of Behemoth in the left side. This is only a raw form and it still has some flaws. It has some stability problems and tends to get out of control sometimes. ![]() I will post more pics once it is debuged. 23

Comment on Argus II:
For to compete with S3 bots it's probably not powerfull enough. There is a lot of waisted space inside. Try to replace the 4 snappers in front with two magsnappers with two or more weapons on each of them. Shrink the chassis to the absolute minimum. This applies to all bots. When I go to make a bot for a competition, I redo the chassis several times till there is no possible improve anymore. Tiny Tim seems to be interesting, but I need to see the insides. Black Dragon is between MW and HW. Either you downgrade it to MW, or you blow it up to HW. Like this it is closed to worthless, because it cannot compete to other HW, that have closed to 800 kg. If you want more people to come by, to see your showcase, there are three ways to acheive this. Try to go new ways and show more original and more spectacular bots, or have a big mouth and make big (but empty) announcments and statements like Venko. The third and best is: do both. If you want just to have more and more visitors and you are not in a hurry, go ahead to post and thanks to the (more or less) helpfull adwises of the other members and by your own increasing skills, you will be a better bot builder. Join some competitions and you will get even more experienced. 24

The top armor is a defence against hammers. The front skirts, the front bumper, the side protection and the top armor are attached all together on one single hinge each side.
You got it. 25
DSL TC Showcases / Cookers DSL machines« on: June 07, 2008, 03:01:47 AM »Quote from: R0B0SH4RK;9250 Nice chassis. I'm assuming it can barely turn at all. I like it:D It can turn. I found a trick how to do it. You have to incline the botom plate slightly. The chassis looks like this. The bottom is on the right side (the back of my bot). /--------------------/ This way is established, the bottom is still clearly facing down and therefor the bot can turn. The problem is only the fact, you can only direct attach components into the space vertically up from the base. You cannot direct attach items, in the part of the chassis, that is hanging over. But you can make a chassis with some complex forms. And, (ahem) you need to make sure the bot will not fall to the wrong side, when it get dropped in the arena, because it will be (ahem) placed vertically too (bottom is allways down (of course))(ahem). The reason why it turns hard, is rather the weight in front. In his earlier state, turning was easier. It then had only around 650kg, without steel armor and protections on. 27

What is better than a rose on your piano?
Tulips on your organ! (if you dont get it read the answer loud) In Belgium they don't use anymore these plastic helmets, on the constucton sites. They use wool caps, because they are stronger! How they tested it? They dropped both from the 20th floor, to the pavement. The plastic helmet was broken, but not the wool cap. 28

My latest creation:
Eight Shape HW 800 kg (exactly), NPC-T64 fast for drive, Tornado Mer Gearbox for weapon, 4 battle packs, one servo piston (can slide the tornado forward out), steel armor 1mm, invertable. ![]() Silly chassis. Isn't it? I should maybe call it Lamborghini, but its not that fast. I will not post the inside. I'm sure most of you will know how I made it. ![]() It turrns a bit yerky, but drives quite well. 29

You can change the forward heading in the overview tab. Comment to last post: 1# Stock are all the parts that come with the original game. 2# We can not spoonfeed you all that. Try to find out yourself. How about reading the tutorials that came with the game and the tutorials of Clickbeetle on Arthrobotics.com? 30
Tournament Archives / Interessed in a touney Idea?« on: June 04, 2008, 08:09:56 AM »
The small private competition of Sage and Infinite could be extended a bit, to make it a Tourney. Sadly I'm not able to organize this, because I haven't the spare time for it.
The basic idea is a contest, where the a certain set of Items are given to build your bot. Every contestant gets the same set of parts, that he must use somehow. It would be alowed to use unlimited additional stock parts. The bots will then be AI-ed to do a tourney like BBEANS. Sure this can only work, when the bots remain secret, untill the beginning of the fights. The contestants will sign in blindly. They will only know if it is stock or DSL and the weight limit. After the parts are published, they get a deadline, when the bots have to be sent in. I think this could be funny. Imagine how your brain gets busy, if you have to build a decent MW stock, that must contain for example: 1 Nifty 2 45° angle connectors 1 100mm round extender 1 redbird 1 servo piston 1 caster 1 axe head 1 spike stripe 1 forklift arm Is anybody interessed to do something like this? So, go ahead and feel free to pick it up. 31

I think this round goes to Infinite. However I like the extender works of Sage too.

I like the idea to use blades to protect the exposed extenders of the wedges. What are the red extenders for? If it was sombody else's bot I would suppose it is a decoration. But since it's yours, I think there must be another reason for that.

Modifications / The Skin Store« on: May 31, 2008, 09:12:19 AM »
I new it must be complicated, because it's not the first time I asked sombody to do it.
But sinnce I have newer tried to reskin components, I don't know the basics for that. 35
Modifications / The Skin Store« on: May 31, 2008, 08:52:28 AM »
Very good Sage.
Is it possible to change the skin of the round extenders in a way to make the side attach points visible, or just to have another colour for the face where the points are? It would be easier then, to turn them to the desired position. 36

When I look at your bots, I feel like getting very wet in BBEANS with my actual bots.
I see it clearly now. I have to build a bot for BBEANS, like I have never build one before: I have to build a good one. Btw: I wonder how you will AI the HS/VS bot, to tell him when he has to switch his mode. Venkoism: I have several antweights, that use to eat two Crown of Thorns for breakfast everyday. |
