Lately I like to build my bots with a very effective design. It doesn't have to be super powerful, but made so it can get in there and quickly and easily defeat the opponent. Of course that doesn't mean I don't like firepower, I try to fit as much damage into those designs as possible.

Mag snappers. By the way, the next sneak peek coming is going to be a fun one!

I like Predator. But, for almost all your bots, sometimes it's better to have more weapons and less armor. For example you could take off a couple armor plates on Predator to give you the weight to put more teeth on the drum.

The link is working, but you have to install DSL 1 for DSL 1.2 to work.

Ooo, a DSL piston spinner. Looks pretty good, though it could use a few more weapons on the pistons.

You don't really need a Tornado Mer Gearbox for just a lawn mower blade. I think changing them to 2 Mag Gearboxes and using those 15 kg spinner tops as discs would help a lot. You could put on lots of spikes. Shrinking the chassis and putting the weapon motors outside of the bot would get you some weight.

The smart zone tells the AI when to fire their weapons. There can be only one, and it must be named correctly. There can be more than one (all working independently), you'll be seeing that in the next upload of new AI for DSL 2 sometime. I had to make some complicated custom AI for it. You can however, use multiple smartzones for normal AI if you name them all the same. They will just all work together as one.

On Smasher, try removing the pison and air tanks and putting more weapon heads on the spinner.

Today's sneek peek is Samurai, the improved Bushido. It's sort of like a popup, but it's realistic. It also works as a chopper bot.

:? This is a new one, I've never seen this error before.
Is your RA2 located in "C:\Program Files\Infogrames\Robot Arena 2" on your hard drive? It looks to me like the patch can't find your RA2. If it's in a different folder, move it to "C:\Program Files\Infogrames\Robot Arena 2"; then try installing the patch.

No, they did a lot of stuff and were the main developers of DSL.

Nope. Darkrat hasn't visited this forum for a month, I think his last visit was before the forum went down (edit: I was talking to Goose and he told me that Darkrat did leave), and Starcore has been gone for a long time.
The DSL development team is now Goose, ACAMS, Clickbeetle, and me. There are also the beta testers.

Have you created any components? All you need is the component, no installation stuff. Components need a .txt file in the Components folder that contains stuff like their power, name, preview picture, etc. data. They also need their own folder in the Components folder that has their .gmf, the skins for it, and the preveiw picture.

REVIVAL IS GOOD! DSL shouldn't be dead! I'm taking the lead, maybe if I post bots, other people will too *hint hint*.I also feel like making some DSL bots. This bot features 2 drums and 1 axe weapon (looks like 2, but it's one motor). Name: Rogres Batteries: 3 orange batteries Drive: 2 Fast NPCs Drum Motors: Perm 90s Axe Motor: Mag Snapper Armor: Aluminum

I might also be able to make custom powered steering units.

You use Notepad to edit python files. You probably could make real tank treads and other stuff if you could dig out the raw programming of the component types from the exe, looking at them, and making a new one for tank treads. But once again, all that stuff is in the exe, and debuggers/decompiler things that would work on the exe have a high price tag. The only person I know with that kind of software is Darkrat. Don't get your hopes up for that kind of stuff, I don't think it's going to happen.
Slam cams for you bot. I now think that they might be possible...info about that coming later after I get PyRA2 working* and try making the cameras... *may take several days

All of them are impossible to make except these, though the servo motor already exists. I don't understand what the Doubleside Axle Wheel Component would be. Hydraulic Tank & System Component: -POWER- Works for all servos that you don't lose pressure at all, but big and heavy. (Other words for programmer... it's just a unlimited Co2 tank)
Doubleside Axle Wheel Component: -WHEEL- Works as a wheel, but you can put another wheel on a wheel.
Servo Motor Component: -MOTOR- Not a burst... not a slider, but as a powerful slow moving motor. No battery needed.
Well, um, technically I think you could make special .py files to make the impossible components, but all of the game's .py files for component programming are compressed into the exe, so we can't look at them and make more component types. At least I think the component programming is in .py files. Maybe Darkrat could somehow extract them from the exe... I know he has the tools to browse through the exe.

You need to install DSL V1.0, V1.1, and V1.2. If you do V1.2 by itself it will probably do something like that. Make sure to install them in order too. If you've installed all of them, try reinstalling DSL. You need to install DSL to a separate folder, then bring the files over to the RA2 folder and allow it to overwrite all of the files.
