Because it was USELESS, didn't add to the conversation and could have sparked a flame war. And you were whacking someone just because he bumped a topic.
Yes technically a bump whack is earning less... BUT I DONT CARE. Stupid posts like what you did must be eliminated.
The bumper kept on topic, and gave feedback. Maybe not constructive criticism but still feedback, and he did nothing wrong, and you blamed him for being ontopic ! You could have blamed him for a stupid/useless/offtopic post (in that case it is not bump whacking anymore), but the problem is that he made a perfectly legit post and you blamed him for it, for a stupid reason (aka posting in an old thread)
Mark my words: bump whackers will be SEVERELY warned from now in the main forum. Each bump whacking earns 50% warning, and multiple bump whackings may result in a one-day ban, or more.
Yes this may be disproportionate, but it is for a good cause : removing that stupid behavior from the forums forever. And it's not new, and it's still unconstructive and idiotic.
