Discussion / robot arena 2 live stream channel?
« on: February 08, 2011, 02:25:57 PM »
NOTE: this idea has been posted before by me a little while ago, topic was old so I'm posting a new one.

I have thought for a while now that the community lacks something and that something is a live streaming channel where people can hang out, chat and enjoy RA2 together. here are some things that would be possible with the live streaming channel:

- A shared account run by selected members, less downtime between live streams.
- Live Robot Arena 2 tournaments, Watch tournaments as they are hosted live and discuss results at the same time.
- Match Requests, anyone in chat would be able to request matches if there is no live tournament in progress
- Community building, the host is able to take ideas from the chat to build robots.
- Live commentary, always a possibility.
- Live Shows Run by the hosts, the hosts can put together series or shows they think up such as running through the single player tournaments with a chosen bot.

Then not a juggler...

so it needs 2 active weapons to be considered a juggler? :/ isn't the whole point of a juggler to "juggle" bots on the top?

How is anything other than a spike ball mode spinner (if spikeball mode even happens on AW class) is going to get on top of that bot ?

i didn't get around to testing it, not sure if i even will. just felt like posting a new AW :) some of my AW's have been able to get under others though.

basically, was trying to work on a juggler design-
Not to seem all negative or anything, but how exactly would an AW juggler work?

still trying to figure that out ;) 1 static weapon and 1 on an axle or RAD lol.

New AW, has no name.

- plastic.
- 1 or 2 pinks (pretty sure it's only 1)
- RAD drive.

New aw is new so enjoy :P

i actually made some "boxing" robots with stock a few years back :) i had different buttons setup for both hooks and both jabs lol fun times. you could also make the robots spin around with the arms spread out to make a whirlwind type attack :P

Discussion / Re: Best @ Bot Types
« on: February 03, 2011, 11:34:59 PM »
Uh, specialists are supposed to be the BEST at their bot types...

A specialist is an expert who is devoted to a single job or someone who practices a single branch of something.

Surgeons are specialists. Even the new ones.
However, the President's personal bodygaurds are also specialists.

I could happily build sh**ty popups all day and upon one of the two definitions of the word, I'm still a specialist.

I'm making sh**ty bots, but I'm still a specialist.

they don't get their jobs by being crappy though >.> when someone is a specialist at something they are good at what they do as they have spent time learning their craft.

Site News and Feedback / RA2 video showcases.
« on: December 23, 2010, 04:51:41 AM »
hey guys i still have RA2 on my pc i'm thinking about playing a little bit here and there and maybe even sharing some vids/tournaments like old times but i would like to have a section or a new thread just for vids. sounds greedy? well think about it like this what if i come here and want to see if someone like MikeNCR has new videos of his awesome DSL bots in his own privately held tournament? i would have to browse through his massive showcase.

so what I'm asking is can we have a new section for RA2 Video showcases where people can put videos of their robots and own tourneys?

lack of unique designs surprises me due to how much weight people had to work with  :ouch: clicks will be the most fun to watch.

i once saw him on Champions Online.

bingo, we have a winner. I also play SC2 on occasions, sometimes on the NA/LA region.

aww.. the construction crew are working at it.. shame to not see it press on

No need to stop working on the arena, I may return one day or maybe the community would like it to be released for use in other tournaments or just to play around with against AI.

I'm really going to have to as I have lost interest in the game, I was really looking forward to see the robo zone arena in action for over a year, maybe 2 years and now it looks like i won't get to see it. However I would love to see the work on the arena continue because it could make for a really cool arena for different tournaments that have 4 robots active at the same time.

almost 1 month since any word on well...anything. lack of interest has dropped this discussion to page 2.

I'm going to have to cancel this, it's a shame that people don't want to see a different style of tournament then the usual elimination style 1v1 or 2v2 tournaments. I have been waiting the past month for someone to show interest but it just hasn't happened.

the effort i put into the house robots (Team robo zone) and general planning has left me unable to find the interest to play the game now. Not sure if/when I will return but good luck with everything.
