Another interesting thing about that.. when you look slightly to the side, it turns all the way, slowly. Keep doing it, it keeps turning.

The Wii seems a little too casual for RA 2, or 3.

Eh, I'm not the one gunning for the Wii, I sortof see what you're getting at.

I've been gunning for the DS.

you do know that It would be better on the ps3?

Probably. But on the Wii or DS, it'd be more interactive. And have a more precise way of adding the parts.

Maybe it's my distaste for the PS3 but I don't see it going anywhere on it.

i have had this idea ever since the wii came out. RAWii (Robot Arena Wii Edition)

and i want to market DSL as an actual game. maybe just give it to atari, and have them sell it. we don't need any money.

I think the DS would be a better console for it. The graphics won't get cut back too much, you'd be able to take it anywhere, and there'd probably be more precision in using the stylus to build a bot. (Though you'd need the buttons to elevate parts and such)

Not to mention WIFI matches, maybe even single cart.

My two cents:

RA2 on the DS. (Or something roughly like RA2)

If we're talking details on any console though.. hmmm. More variety of parts. Maybe high power CO2 burst motors would be a start.

Discussion / New options for modelling?

The only thing apart manual / notepad editing is use 3dsmax, but this is where it gets complicated. There are two exporters:
1) Gabriel Interactive's official exporter, a .dlu plugin, which will ONLY work on 3dsmax v4/v5 + The Havok Exporter (reactor doesn't cut it).

2) A MaxScript exporter, originally written by dummee, modified countless times, my copy is floating around somewhere, and as far as I rembber it works with all the versions, but is much more complicated to use.

If I were you, I'd go with Max v5, The Havok Exporter and the official plugin, but beware, v5 is broken on Windows XP SP2 or newer, and a lot of things don't work, including named selections, render to texture, and others. So be use to use SP1 or prior, or otherwise you may just stick to a newer revision + MaxScript.

Hmmm. I guess I'm stuck with the newer revision. I'll be downloading 3DS Max 8. Or 9.

By the way, wasn't you making some sort of hierarchy based GMF editor, with 3D modeller built in? That's how I saw it..

Well, you know I've came back from several years inactivity.

And I've been looking around for 3DS Max 4, like you had to use before. Well, now I'm downloading 3DS Max 5 because it apparently works when you have the right stuff to go with it.

But now I'm confused. People are talking about Gmax, 3DS Max 8 and 9 apparently work, and the Havok Exporter for 3DS Max 4 required (apparently also 3DS Max 5 compatible) doesn't even seem to exist.

What are the options for part/arena modeling, not including notepad editing?

No, I just moved the bar from the bottom attachment point on the Perm to the top attachment point so it wouldn't intersect the motor.  All the actual components were kept the same.

Close enough. Atleast for my memory. ^^;

Also, just in case the question comes up again: you can't have an 801 kg multibot any more than you can have an 801 kg single bot.

It's good to know.

I believe #5 is too strong to be listed. Come on, look at that fierce sawblade! And the red extender!

Actual vote -> #2

Heh. I think I was going to have a second bar on both multibots, but Clickbeetle removed it because it clipped the battery.

---

Either way, I made a new multibot contender for BBEANS5. It's actually tough. The only problem is it's 400.5kg. (Summing up to 801kg)

Would the small weight out be allowed, or does it have to be exact, just like the ingame 800kg limit?

Forget it. The reason why didn't really work for my bot.

Double Damage MW=Best multibot in BBEANs tourney so far. Welcome back.

Thanks, but now I'm sensing sarcasm. :( I would of thought Pressure's Sabre would be better.

That, or the multibots aren't so good.

Thanks for the greetings guys.

(Though Double Damage would have been a very strong entry if only it was invertible.)

You're right.. but really? I just couldn't see it go the way. Or as far as the semis.

Who is redline?

I'm an RA2 oldtimer and probably well known for being an asshole. (You might be too, if you was on the internet at 7/8/9, and 'special')
Had a different name back then. Or for the first year, anyway.

Medicore robots despite starting over 5 years ago, the only one standing out being Big Flip, a HW popup.

BBEANS2 competitor - Double Damage MW.

I might make a comeback just to have my say in this tourney.

Not like my eventual bot will pose any threat, but huh, something to think about.
