Wow, Kheper beat B... uh, Craaig's bot? Wasn't expecting that. I suppose beating 2 VS's in a row is too much to ask for though. If only Revenge of Dawn could have driven off the arena one more time in its last match... then I would have gotten the Kamikaze Cubes instead I think Urjak has the best chance of winning this. Seems like his bot is effective against pretty much every type of design.

My bot can self right its self in that angle i belive.
Really? How? If it can be AI'd I'll try and whip up a custom .py for your next match. (Though I don't think you need to worry about being flipped by kill box.) Yeah I was also really surprised when Mutant Kabuto won the next two rounds. You dominated the first round so thoroughly. Also G.K., Psychoblade IS seeded; if Scorpio has a rank it means he's been in previous BBEANS All BBEANS veterans were seeded in the bracket before filling it in with all the rookies. Anyways... Round 1, part 3/4 is up! It's a mix of good and bad this time. Some awesome fights, and some not-so-awesome fights. There's also one fight that could be rather controversial, though I tried to be as fair as I could about it. Make sure to read the spoiler I wrote up for 1.8 vs. Minifridge 4.

Awesome! How did you make it so that robots That's Mad's doing. Though I sometimes have to disable it because it gets really laggy if both bots are on fire at the same time while I'm running Fraps.

All right, I cleaned up a bit of the spam in here (because this thread is a good concept). Now let's get back to the original purpose of this thread, and pay attention to S32's new rules! Does what it says on the tin. All posts have to be a month old and from this forum. You must quote someone else, not yourself. Also, it must not be directed at yourself.
Anyway, post quotes that you think are funny, awesome, or just good advice.
Lemmie start it off.
You have to promise me though that the three builders prior to Naryar are all horrible noobs so that I can hear him scream in terror when the bot reaches him for adjustments. GO!

How did I miss this post? I don't read em, I make my own.
I know that sounds cool, but good writers also do a lot of reading... also helps with inspiration. I don't think I've mentioned this here yet but I also like to write, in fact I'm about halfway through a novel and it's coming along nicely, no sign of writer's block yet I also have a couple of short stories I wrote for classes which turned out quite good, and a finished novel I did a long time ago and is basically crap compared to my current writing skill level (though the plot was still decent and I re-used several elements in my current novel). Maybe we ought to have a writing thread here. As for books I've read... I've recently gotten into Stephen R. Lawhead; I just got through the third book in his Pendragon cycle and it's quite good, though the ending of book 3 confused me a bit. Planning on getting Hood next. Right now I'm on A Song in Stone by Walter Hunt... not normally the type of book I would pick up, but I really liked his Dark Wing series so I thought I'd give it a try. So far, I'm not disappointed. My favorite is still Tad Williams' Otherland though... if you like sci-fi/fantasy and don't mind massive 1,000-page tomes you really need to read that.

All right, found out the new host address from ACAMS and now the vids are up for real! I've tested it and it works.

Neptune 2 doesn't look realistic IMO.
I thought the same thing when I saw it. There's just no way the flails could be that close together in real life. They would need to be either longer, narrower, further apart, or at different heights. It does look very dangerous though.

Edit: O WAIT... plows on a juggler... you just gave me an awesome idea.
Fast 'n' Furious juggler edition? *shudder* The bots are looking good VB, and I still like that hammer bot. Seems it's just as dangerous as it looks.

But it does have a really cool walking movement. With a few tweaks you could maybe make a true walker that was similar to that.

the Duel Perm may be overkill
If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing! Some well-built bots there.

You know, I knew somewhere in the back of my mind that logically, there must be another attach point on the Whyachi tribar, but for some reason I never consciously realized it was there.
This could be realistic if you did it with a hex plate, or perhaps one of the small tribars. Alternatively, it could be realistic with two Whyachi tribars if you put them on an extender first so they didn't intersect the motor.

Also: Last time CB and I talked about this, we did not have a distinction between FBS and SNS. Have you guys made one? If so what are the criteria of each?
I think everyone pretty much has their own opinion about it. In my opinion, FBS and SnS are basically synonymous, although perhaps FBS is a bit more broad as it could include melty brain bots (which couldn't be accurately called Sit-n-Spinners as they don't sit still).

Rules - Realistic Rule - Multibots are forbidden.
Motor chaining is generally not considered realistic, so no.

Hmm, I don't like the spike rack angled so far forward. As it is, the design will trap bots and the weapon will work more like a short hammer than a popup... which could work with 8 iron spikes, but I think it would be better if it could hit the bottom of bots. Also you can get by with shiny hub wheels to save weight.
Still a cool design and skin though.

I see Tempest Exterminator in there, that's an HS hybrid at least. More irons on the discs would definitely be a good idea.

Rejected designs for Jonzu's Metal Mayham tourney. First I thought I would try a Smashbox-style flipper in stock, after seeing how much mounting the burst motors high up increases flipping power in DSL. And the RA2T2 arena would be perfect for it. Flipping power is good enough, but it can't last more than 5 seconds against any decent HS. And I know Metal Mayhem will be full of HS's. Oh, and there's HP Z-tek drive and 2 non-stacked Supervolts in that chassis. So then I took the Dark July approach. I figured that since popups are banned, I don't need to worry about having a wedge or fast drive. I just loaded as many weapons as possible onto this bot. The side hammers serve dual purposes, protecting the wheels and giving the bot a means to score KO's (since it's so slow it's never going to KO anything with the iron spikes). It's actually quite good against rammers and dual HS's like Deuterium, but it didn't perform as well as I would like against SnS's and single HS's like Spin Cycle. The side hammers broke too easily, leaving the wheels exposed. My final entry... is a secret for now All I'm going to say is that the Thwartoise is thwarting some plans.

I'm all for renaming them, but the problem is that they're already in wide circulation. People are going to end up with 2 copies of the same thing with different names. Which isn't so bad I suppose... but if you didn't know they were the same, it could get even more confusing. And then some people would still have the old versions and send AI'd bots using it... But it would cause no compatibility issues that I can think of so it's worth a try. BTW, FBS_2 is actually my creation, though it uses some bits of code from Madiaba, and I made some updates to it for BBEANS6 (just to add even more to the confusion )

My favorite is the Epic Showdown arena... it's just so detailed and dramatic. FB did an awesome job with the gmf work and skinning. All it's missing is a dramatic intro that plays "O Fortuna" while lightning flashes behind the bots (something I might add if I ever get the time ) But for testing bots I usually use the combat arena, the BBEANS arena, or whatever arena is being used for the tournament I'm planning to enter.

I uploaded the new index page, and I'm sure it worked, but it doesn't appear when I go to my website! I even tried typing in the video URL's manually, but no dice. I think it might have something to do with ACAMS moving the site to a new server... maybe I'm uploading my stuff to the wrong place. I need to get some information from him. Sorry about about all this.
