My first bot that I used the eFFe glitch on.
not too bad, try using the middle attachment points on the disc and face the extenders out that way you can put 1 iron on the disc and 2 on the extender like this: Irons> | | | disc > O----- < extender

How would it be capable of an uppercut without at least 3 burst motors, each one covering different dimensions?
Also, have you used an axle on that mini billy goat gruff, or just an axle?
@Flipper been done times before, but I still like it. It's like a Stock Oak Stake
1. there are 4 burst motors there's 2 inside the bot. 2. yep used an axle so the disc/weapons spin. 3. most AW flippers I've seen use only 1 pink or the blue burst motor. also.. videos of mini's!
Bumble bee mini seems to stop when it starts to get counted out :S
720 should be available soon on all 3 videos.

unskinned mini billy goat gruff, used the chassis suggested earlier in the thread and it gave me enough weight to build this so will try the mini lancelot again. other bot is a quickly put together boxing bot, haven't fully set up the controls yet but should be capable of your basic uppercuts and hooks.

Had a quick look around and searched couldn't find any thread for custom match idea's so I though I'd start one :)
Here you can post all your idea's for custom matches in RA2, these matches are different to your normal death matches, king of the hills etc. I'll throw one out there to get the ball rolling.
One Fall Boxing - A Boxing ring arena would be used, the canvas instantly destroys a bot when the chassis hits the floor so players build boxing robots that "stand up" on wheeled legs and feet. Objective is simple knock down the other robot, think about robots jabbing each other and throwing hooks while the other moves around and dodges the puches of the other bot with head movements.
It would be fun to have more custom matches to play around with, open up some more gameplay options for different/more unique robots.

you can be unique without sacrificing ALL combat effectiveness. That's the challenge of stock building.
true, guys like click and Inf have shown us that but these days you see lots of clones of the same thing just modified a bit which is why bots like ice phoenix win BOTM. I was actually planning to enter a Paul Phoenix bot for this BOTM a nicely skinned standing boxing bot with a number of different attacks lol.

If Ice Phoenix wins, ima be so upset. IT CAN'T DO ANYTHING. looks shouldn't be everything in BOTM. like I would rather have #8 win.
So beating some SC bots isn't 'doing anything'? :P
And that HS thing can beat and lose to SC bots as well.
Besides, when's the last time you've seen a stock artbot? :P
Yea, I had a MW take out a SHW Starcore bot. Just saying "starcore" doesn't get anyone any points. I'm judging effectiveness between the entries. BOTM used to be cool, now it's just whoever makes the best eye candy.
hopefully the good builders step outside their building comfort zone and try to experiment with new designs, I've always liked unique robots other the basic combat effective popup :P we see way too many popups and 36hsers in the stock showcases so when we see something different we get inspired to try out new things. you think it's a bad thing that the "pretty" and unique robots win all the time over the common combat effective ones? well the combat effective ones get to win AI tournaments all the time... more showcases like click's would be awesome and we know that there are plenty of builders who could build some nice unique robots but stick to the common robot designs.

voted for ice phoenix, why? neat splash, original and awesome looking hammer weapon :) the others either have a bad splash, bad robot in splash or generic/done-to-death-style robot.

i can defeat some of my other antweights with it, yet to try it AI'd though. It's certainly unique based on what I've seen and I'm here to inspire others to build AW's by showing people what can be built in the weight class.

looks nice, if something I build is unstable i try a number of things...
1. try adding a rear stabilizer. 2. try adding snowplows to the sides for stability. 3. try making the wedge longer.

no comments? :O if anyone is wondering how it works as a popup it's simple really... bot drives onto the wedge and puts pressure on it pushing it down and pushing the spike up as the robot goes up the chassis part of the wedge. this is also one of the most unique AW's I've seen, after one "popup attack" it turns into a rammer and the wedge turns into rear defense.
It can go from popup to rammer multiple times during a match, oh yeah the wedge can also provide defense to the bottom of the robot during the match too.

2 pinks, 1 iron, plastic as usual. can even work while inverted.

Love it, solid update aswell. You're very impressive in your stock skills, just out of interest, why haven't you started showcasing more antweights?
Fixed :P more people are needed building the lighter weight classes.

Thanks, I get the feeling the axle could be the future of AW building. This AW popup could be changed to a single razor tip and given a small wedge too although I'd have to remove a pink also which would kill off plenty of it's speed.

nope when the robot drives into another and goes under the iron spikes will go up and forward to hit the undersides of other robots. Wammers have static weapons and wedges.

I guess the thing I'm wondering is whether the random rotation of the axle makes it any better than just making a rammer. Does it increase damage that much?
Someone would have to test it, I use them to hit the undersides of other bots.

yeah i figured that leaving the forum for a bit would have that effect i still think it would be a great arena for anyone to use, not just for me to use in robo zone especially if there has been work done on it as mentioned here: I've been done with the Arena.py for quite awhile (it just needs a few touch ups after the Arena.gmf is made). The only reason why I haven't said anything is because I'm still waiting for Mad to give me the go-ahead (although, Joe might have gotten it...).
Features of my Arena.py:
- AI won't attack caged bots
- Caged bots won't move unless they are being counted out (if you would like, I could also stop them from rotating their weapons)
- If there is only 1 non-caged bot, the next available caged bot is released without a delay.
- As time progresses, the cages are consecutively opened (30sec and 1min after the fight begins)
I'm still in favor of turning this into a group project but if it makes things easier for everyone else, I could start on the Arena.gmf and skinning...
