If a good vet was smart like all of us "noobs", then the good vet would have started working on their bot when the tourney was announced nearly 2 months ago, and had gotten it in to secure their spot. I spent a month on my bot. It takes nearly 5 minutes of loading to get into the bot lab to look at it. It took me nearly a month and around 7 or 8 revisions, and it was done before registration opened. If a "good vet" really wanted to be in this tourney, then a "good vet" would have built their bot earlier, knowing that it is a prestigious tourney. That it has always been allowed for everybody to compete. That there has been more and more users on the forums lately. Wow. No wonder why my bots are only SC2 standard. I spent only an hour to a day on a bot.

That is actually a pretty bad multibot when put together, only adds up to 500kgs. I like the bots though. Reason #1 while there were no multibots in BBEANS 4. The goal was Double Damage MW in a smaller package. That succeeded, but you're right. As a multibot, it doesn't work.

Ya'know, in my opinion, I think we had TOO much time to prepare.

You'd be better with 3 ant batteries, or even 4 if you want battery power. Hmmm. I'll look into that. It doesn't looks like the pointy tip will do much damage... Never really planned for it to. Secondary tactic. Or secondary defence. your picture are fantastic : even the worst bot should look as a killer when so well exposed Are you working on an advertising agency ? Just seem to be good at it, suppose. Apparently my publication work in (secondary) school looks pro.. literally. :s and more over your bot seems good : preparing for bbean 6 DSL LW ? Oh, it's LW? Heh, thought it was BW.. or AW.

Got the thread up. I hope this works. Wouldn't it be better to link them to the 1.3 full version someone on the forum has a link in their sig to? My friend couldn't make an MW in that time.. and his bots aren't really that good.

Motor is not powerful enough, you need at least a duel mag to spin that. Actually, it spins quite fast. Ofcourse, a duel mag would make it go much faster, but it still spins at the same speed as DDMW with the Perm 132 setup. Probably be hard to fit in to a LW setup with (an improved version of) DDMW's chassis in mind. Ian... well, I just fight any bot as the splash makes out. DDLW's vulnerable to vertical spinners, hammers/axes, and horizontal spinners in the right position.

You were right, Naryar. The shell was a better idea - once I found out the middle connection point could be used to attach to stuff. Dynamo MK2.. MK2: I think I did enough weightsaving to give it 3mm Plastic armor and have two little air tanks. Just trying to remember - I pulled the shot out of the screenshots directory just now, not go into the bot lab. Also, here comes a semi-nostalgia strike: Notes:Better then Double Damage MW. Not as much of a giant killer as Dynamo, but it does sting. Getting pushed around usually results in a intact-weapon variation of the Gyro dance, as DD gets pushed out of self-righting and stuff.

ok so i used to host some tournaments, but they take a lot of time and effort and i hosted a few in a short space of time and in the end just couldnt handle it. when i was hosting tournaments, the main thing i wanted to achieve was variety and giving you all entertainment.
with all that being said before i finished hosting tourneys i had an idea that didn't get off the ground due to my lack of concentration so here it is...
this tournament idea that i had has the entrants face a series of challenges to obtain points.
-2 on 1: your robot faces 2 robots at once that are a weight class below yours. -beat the box: a beat the clock challenge. -Tilt: a tabletop match against a strong well built rammer/wammer(wedged rammer). -Survival: a 1 on 1 match against a powerful bot that is a weight class above yours. -i would also consider a death match at the end with the 2 top bots to decide the winner.
points work like this, the best performing bot on a challenge gets... lets say 10 points (depends how many are entered) and last place gets 0.
seems like a pretty nice tourney that offers variety, i will have a video demo of all the types of challenges on youtube shortly (NOTE: i made the video some time ago and the robots you face in challenges would be submitted (hopefully) by an accomplished bot builder).
what do you all think? Interesting. Suppose the whole "weight class above" or below thing means a decent higher/lower class bot? Thinking of my DSL BW.. which can beat Ronin (the DSL replica HW) and such..

Also, a sad day for BBEANS: Me, Firebeetle, and Pyscolone are now the only three people who have competed in all of the BBEANS. The number of dedicated entrants really took a hit this time. In the long term, that's quite respectable. It's apparently been 2 years since the first BBEANS. RA2 came out in 2003. The game isn't as big now as it was, and it's meant to be a commercial failure as it is. (Or Wikipedia says, anyway) Those who were around in summer 2007 when the first BBEANS started were probably nearing the last days of their interest in RA2. It's normal. If they didn't go after that, there's been another 2 years and 3 BBEANS to quit before, after or during. Expect a splash in about a week or so (after the last entries have had a chance to switch if they want.) Cool. This'll be interesting to see.

Cool with the bottom one.. but that spike on the Redbird looks like one (weight) costly scrimech. Suppose there's another spike on the other end or something?

Hah, the whole commandments thing makes me laugh.
But overall, good rules and stuff.

I think I played Midtown Madness 2.
Whatever, it was old, and stuff. Forgot everything else.

Very cool. Hopefully you'd give it the added bonus of the bots having some sort of true-to-real scale. Razer dwarfs Sir Killalot and all.

If it flies then it's illegal. Read the rules and enter a legal bot, or get out. Depends on if it actually flies or not. He could mean a hoverbot, he could mean it's just so fast like most bots with lots of Z-tek HPs that it has air control.

I don't no much about programing, so why can't you also change the EXE? Just wondering. It'd probably be messy as . No idea.

better than starcore 3
probably as good as starcore 4 beta Crud. Have to pass. My best tend to be around SC2, maybe edging towards 3... Eh, maybe there should be a pack that's basically the Starcore of realism.

What is the difficulty level for this pack? Obviously better then stock.. but.. Starcore 3 grade? 2? 1? Or below?

I think CB explained this, but if he didn't: There are only 4 classes hard coded into the exe. We cannot change this. The exact weight of each weight class is also dictated by the exe,... thus no change there either. Sorry. If I understood CB right, he changed the forth "None" class in the bot file of each of these SHW's and then tweaked the gib and pic to reflect that. IMHO, I think this is a cool tweak... Huh. Damn. Ah well. Don't really understand what you're saying there in that last bit.

(Unsure if this fits under DSL General Discussion or DSL ideas - it's more of a question, but to do with the new version and all - there's no DSL 3 topics in general discussion)
With DSL 3 drawing closer (Supposedly) and the promise of classes for AWs, BWs and SHWs, will the existing classes be straightened out too?
It's frustrating when a 249kg bot isn't classed as lightweight. Stuff like that.

It would take decades to load. Think about it, if you use that idea you're going to be putting as many bits and pieces as you would on SHWs. Now think about building a SHW with this design. It'd be insane! Hmm.. yeah, your point is valid. It depends on how it's executed though. It won't exactly be tweaked extenders, they're virtually pre-built frames with chooseable armor sheets. That'll reduce the load, but on huge bots where one, two, or three (if required) frames won't fit, yeah, probably a problem.
