Just made a K'Nex grabby claw thing. It doesn't work well at all. But at least I built something with it. =D

I do that, except I hide at the back, then charge forward, taking them by surprise. Another thing I liked doing was - if there was only one or two players left on each team, and they'd stockpiled all the balls at the back - waiting until they were just about to throw, then charging forward into their half of the field. If I timed it correctly, they would not have enough time to recorrect their throw andwould then be weaponless, plus I would be behind their line of defense. I would then scoop up all the remaining balls and take them back to my side as quickly as possible. 1823

I can't remember my dreams, for the most part, but I can distinctly remember having a knife pressed into my back, just below and to the left of the center in one of them. Also a small round portal thing on the floor that had a purple lid with a golden "16" on it.

I was surprisingly good at the 200m in high school, I seem to remember. I never liked football. There was one time that I got an earful from one of my teammates for failing to chip the ball over the diving goalkeeper. I did once score a try in rugby after a dummy pass got me round the back of the opponent's defense. Then I tried the same trick again and got the wind knocked out of me. Fool me once, and so forth.
I always liked dodgeball, personally. I wasn't great at catching, or throwing accurately, but I was pretty good at dodging, and I had some great strategies. Such as waiting until the opponents had thrown, charging forward from the back and belting the ball in their general direction. Rarely hit anyone, because they'd all scramble towards the corners in fear, but there were few things I enjoyed more than watching burly sixth-years fleeing from me in terror. ![]() 1829
Discussion / Re: Why do you NOT participate in BOTM?« on: March 27, 2012, 02:02:38 PM »Why isn't bot of the month simply a nomination of a bot built within the span of the month in the showcases, you get a top 8 in terms of votes, which are then revealed and people vote on that top eight, the criteria being which one you like the most that isn't one of your own. One bot max per individual member? I thought this was what BOTM was when I first rocked up here. ![]() Although part of what I enjoy about BOTM is the restrictions, the challenge of building something outwith your normal building style. I really don't like the people who say "I was hoping for this weightclass" or something along those lines, because that's what BOTM is about. It's about the variety that you can find in the game, and the enjoyment of building a robot for something other than just beating opponents. 1830

Oh, that. I remember that. I thought it was a reaction test or something. I think I got into the last quarter or so. I'm reasonably fast, pretty agile, but not that strong.

Sounds pretty rough. At least it wasn't like my 13th, I got punched in the face. =D
What's the beep test, by the way? I don't think I ever had to do that. 1832
Other Tutorials / Re: Hyper-accurate Building« on: March 27, 2012, 10:51:21 AM »
It's quite a long and time-consuming way of doing it, but at least it works. Most of the builders make do with simple trial and error, if a particular part doesn't fit, try making the chassis a little bigger, if there's too much empty space, try reducing the chassis size a little. You'll find the shrink-wrapped chassis in a few tries or so.

Back to standard DSL. Yes, I can still do that too.
![]() 398.9, 3 ants, NPCF's, Plastic 1. Complete glass cannon. I wanted to make it compact-ish, partly so it didn't get stranded on low arena walls, or stuck anywhere, and partly because I just like compact designs. Works upside-down, occasionally does this. ![]() 1837
Real Robotics Discussion / Re: Mortis unmasked« on: March 27, 2012, 04:31:09 AM »I wish Mortis had been good in RW, was always my favourite bot in the first runs of the show. Best bot in robot wars probably, if it had wheels instead of treads it would have been unstoppable. It was undoubtedly the best at the start. If they hadn't broken their axe, I think they could have won the series. It was quite unlucky against Panic Attack in the second wars, but following that, their biggest weakness was that absolutely gaping ground clearance. If they'd stuck around for the fifth wars, they could have solved that issue, and probably been a serious contender. I would have loved to see it against something like Tornado or Hypno-Disc. 1838
Existing Games / Re: Annoying/Raging Moments in Video Games« on: March 26, 2012, 02:26:35 PM »Oh yeah, and pretty much any escort mission ever. An exception to this is the one from Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer (or maybe it was Year of the Dragon that had the escort mission) where you had to lead the scientist that had the bomb and you had to crush the obstacles before he reached them. If you failed, he would say 'Ow, I went boom...again' which was just more amusing than anything else. Oh god, that one. That was always the last egg I had to get in Year Of The Dragon. You TRY to figure out which way he's going to go, you stomp whatever's in the way, AND HE GOES A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DIRECTION. It took me at least three days on that mission to actually get it. But I've since completed the game (117%) four times. It's still a contender for the best game I've ever played. =D 1839

Juggler looks better. I might try to make the front wedge a bit narrower so you don't have those bits sticking out of the corners for HS to hit.
