I always check flip the normals when I export. I don't understand how to duplicate the faces unless you mean export with it checked, then export with it unchecked. I don't have access to 3dsmax now, I'll try to explain it to you from how I remember it. Object QuadMenu (right click on the object to export) -> Convert To -> Editable Poly Then select your object, go to the Modify pane, click on the Editable Poly modifier, then in the rollout select Face editing (that's the red 3D square). Then CTRL-A to select all your faces, copy and paste. (If it pastes to a different object, click Add in the Modify geometry group, and click on the newly created object) With your new faces still selected, click Flip Normals (int the same rollout somewhere). Now every face is duplicated, one with it's normal in the original way, the other one with it's normal flipped. Export it now, however, mind that it has twice the vertices as it had before. It's a very dirty fix.

I haven't look into the gmf file yet, but remember faces are visible from one side only - this is determined by face normals. Quick and dirty fix: select all faces, duplicate them, and flip the normals.

@people wanting raw capture of keys
The RA2 WinAPI window already captures them, and translates the messages concerning them however it wants, probably not minding Python. There is no way we can intercept that, unless we make it capture form a different window. Or use some sort of keylogger mechanism. Maybe a kernel driver connecting to a python module via IPC? It may be a bit overkill, but it will surely work. It will also probably be laggy. One could also intercept DirectInput, but I never studied DirectX API's, so I know nothing about it.

I'd use Chrome everywhere, but I'm waiting for it to be ported properly (and be stable) on Linux and OS X. Chromium on Windows is pretty awesome. Otherwise I use Firefox. 3.5 was kinda slowish on windows, but they fixed it in 3.5.1 (all fonts were cached at the start of the application).
All you people complaining about a virus being "on" GTM have probably just a really messed up Windows install with spyware, adware and worms all over the place.
(Also, FYI worm != virus. A virus infects files, adds it's header in binaries, and shiet. Much more advanced. A worm just keeps running on your PC, copies itself and maybe makes your PC join a botnet. It can be as simple as a dozen of VBScript lines created by a 10-year old on crack)

I make combat planes with friends. We take a triangular piece of styrofoam, hot glue, a cheap motor and propeller, a couple of micro servos, an rc kit, then make them fly and slam into each other to make your opponent fall and crash. Duct tape is allowed for quick on-site repairs. It's AWESOME. And pretty cheap, just the initial costs. (ignore the last column of the matrices given in the examples) Also, keep in mind that my viewer ignores the TM's (I am a lazy man), and should not be used to read arena data, since it will most likely display all the objects at 0,0,0, with random rotation and scaling. GMF stands for Gabriel Meta File. When you get values like -7.751465E-07 , it's -7 * 10^-7. It's so small you can round it down to 0. Oh, and please, please, please use my compiler and decompiler. They'll give you much more detailed error messages. They'll not be bastards and crash on you. They don't bite. If you are 100% positive it's not the battery or PSU...
Did the laptop suffer wear and tear? If so, a trace might have broken on the motheboard, and then you're ****ed, unless you have LAZ0R EYES, a soldering iron and very steady hands. You may try disassembling the laptop, then clear the CMOS (BIOS settings) by taking out the little li-on button cell battery and/or shorting a jumer which is probably marked "CLR CMOS" or something.

Hey there, I hope I don't reinvent the wheel, and it's genuinly a new idea. If not, let me know.
I'm not really into tournaments, mainly because I'm really bad at robot building. But to the recent tournament goes not only a robot design, but also it's AI. This is what I've tought of.
Let everyone decide on a bot class (rammer, spinner, flipper, et caetera), and then create a new AI algorithm for it.
From what I read and see some of you programmed new AI algorithms. Would anybody be interested in that sort of competition? Would anybody be up the the challenge of having the best fight strategy?
If there are enough people, I'm in.

Dude, why do you tell to save them as JPG, if you keep YOUR images saved as BMP? You just renamed the extension to .jpg.. That's not converting. The MIME type is still BMP. This is what you mess up: [sergeb@wind ~]$ head -n 1 42506Saveasjpg.jpg BM"� This is a BMP Header. ----------- The best example is RAR archives. The extractor only cares about what is after it's magic byte, and you can put any data before, eg. a JPG image. The image viewer only reads the JPG part, and the extractor reads only the part after the JPG part. .
