After T-800  Terminator lost it's first round against Surgical Strike I kinda figured I was out of sync on my design and that T-800 was behind the curve and not competitive.

Each round it has gotten closer and closer to climbing out of the Loser's Bracket.

I do not think that T-800 will get a chance to have a revenge match with Surgical Strike.

I really didn't think T-800 would get past Bumble Bee. I had little hope of T-800 surviving long enough for the Flippers to come into play and as we saw, T-800 was just as vulnerable to being flipped out of the arena that deep into the match.

Absolute Chaos is a great design and though there is a small chance that T-800 Terminator will get past him we saw how close it was between T-800 and Death Dealer. It will be even harder for T-800 to get in and thump on Absolute Chaos's smaller chassis.

I look forward with bated breath to the next few rounds.

Thanks for running these matches Click!

Bumble Bee will return, in an arena without extrmemly low walls and uber powerful flippers. ><

I really didn't think T-800 Terminator would last long enough for the flippers to even come into play. You know your design is powerful. And as you saw T-800 needed basically every bit of defense I put on it.

We all of course have to design for the environment we will be fighting in and in future tournaments people will need to consider heavily how to counter a crawler design (you know others will be doing similar with it now being allowed).

Not quite sure how 36 bot bracket works versus the sweet spot of 32 but do let me know if I can join?

My only hope is if your wedgeless design allows Hellbringer to get under your bot for a decent gut-rip.  Otherwise, I feel that T-800 will win.  You faced me in the All Around Bot Builder Championship against Hellbringer, and your HS totally owned the match.  This time, however, it looks like your bot has a few less weapons.  So, I have a miniscule amount of hope.

Best of Luck, may the mightiest bot win!

Was a good solid fight between T-800 Terminator and Hellbringer. There were even prediction post that thought it would go the other way. I am proud of T-800 and have been working on improving it for the Starcore V4 pack.

For the next round though I do not think T-800 has much hope of victory. It is not designed to flip other bots out of an arena and it is agressive enough to get in close with Bumble Bee as fast as it can. I have faith that Bumble Bee will walk around on top of T-800 until it top-rips T-800 to shreds.

The nature of diverse bot designs, I focused T-800 for agressive strong front fighting. Blending to take on a wide range of foes. Doesn't mean it can take on every kind of foe.

Looking forward to seeing how the match turns out...

You didn't give us alot of info of what Video Player you have or what is happening. You could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Or Google VLC, download and install that. Plays most anything.

I did some testing of T-800 Terminator vs the Starcore V4 Billy Goat Gruffiest and with long fast charges there were matches where yes the Face Spinner did a great gut-rip and or got the right lucky strikes to take off both of T-800 Terminators wheels early in match. I could be wrong but I think the shape of this arena will help T-800 keep control of the match and rip off Hellbringers Plows and weapons before enough gut ripping occurs.

We will see soon enough. I do wish I had gone with the alternate design of T-800 Terminator with 2 Caster Armor on its belly instead of the twin razor tips as front weapon breakers. Seeing more of a need of bottom protection in these matches...

Don't forget one bot gets to climb out of the Loser's Bracket to face the Winner's Bracket Champion.

I am watching closely who T-800 Terminator has to fight in the upcoming matches. Because of how T-800 is designed I don't have alot of hope he can beat Bumble Bee if he has to fight him but I think he can take Hellbringer and 45-70 Magnum. So I am rooting for 45-70 Magnum in his match up with Bumble Bee.

We had discussed before doing an AI pack of Tourney Winners and/or of BBEANS top entries based on their Win/Loss ratings. Was part of why I liked seeing a Stock BBEANS for all the major classes (LW, MW, HW).

They would be AIed already. Didn't have to be a huge pack to have people value it. 15 teams of 3 bots in each team would be fine. Larger as needed.

Then do additional small but influential packs of DSL BBEANS (LW, MW, HW) or other tourney packages.

Well I hope not all the Loser's Bracket videos are boring. T-800 needs to fight his way out of the losers bracket. Or be found defective and shipped back to Skynet to be turned into scrape metal and reforged anew...

The order of the list is personal perspectives and will of course change over time with past veterans that should not be forgotten.

Thank you for even considering me on the list and giving me the level of rating granted.

Saying that, yes builder rating should be a separate discussion and we should get this thread back to BBEANS.

I started a new job at work so have been swamped with Server installs and landings. SANs and Cluster installs. International shipments and Weekend Mandatory Server Security Patching. Have not had the time I used to for tweaking and checking things out. Life will return to normal, I am sure it will...

She is much more stable and faster then V3 and even more dangerous when she has weapons knocked off like any good Ridley Scott/James Cameron Alien should be.

I think most would agree that few VS stay dangerous when you unbalance them.

Discussion / Stock or DSL: Which is better?
« on: May 24, 2009, 01:35:25 AM »
Happy to see this question still being asked.

As the father of the Starcore Packs and orginal CEO of DSL am am very pleased people are still playing both. And yes stock has benefits for those getting started and those wanting challenge competing with the original developed parts. While DSL was created to bring more realistic parts and options to the playing field.

You are all doing great carrying the torch. I can wonder what would be happening these days if hadn't done the Starcore Packs or DSL?

And what people call their own stuff is fine. Its when it is being considered to be a community term then people review and consider ramifications.

I am not aware of others calling bots like Neglected Waterbug a "Juggler" before I started using that term but it too went through general forum review before being accepted (or maybe not by some).

I shrugged at the term Pure HS because I didn't see them as Pure. I would be fine with the term of 4HPZ36 (Less letters by 1 then writing "Pure HS"). You can build an HS with 3HPZ and 36 Maces/Irons and still have room for other stuff. Is that any more or less pure?

Starcore

(I chose to do T-800 Terminator in BBEANS5 with a wall of Ram Plates instead of going 'Pure'. It had a bad first round in BBEANS5 but I do believe the Ram Plates or variations of the theme make it a more versatile bot then a 'Pure HS'.)

Meh. Too lazy to make a splash. :P

(Image removed from quote.)

Here's Vanishing Light, my first pure HS. Barely invertible but hey, it is my first try. :P

Looks similar to the layout for T-800 Terminator. I had done a 4 HP Ztek and had dropped a Weapon Motor to do wall of ram plates as weapon breakers.

Would my Alter Ego 2 be a good replacement for Cyclone or Reaper? It's defeated all LWs in the game AIed.

(Image removed from quote.)

?

It looks like a good effective bot. A picture only shows so much so I do need to ask though, did you use AAM to attach the HP Ztek or were you able to attach it in the bot lab?

The reason I ask is that I do not allow bots that require AAM for assembly in the Starcore packs. I am still holding to the line of Stock and Stock AI parts assembled in the Bot lab. We are allowing Madiaba's Smartzones for Starcore v4 to reduce the handicap to AI bots from having to use 2KG Smartzones. (Too many people still get confused thinking we have exceeded class limits if we allow going over by the 2KG of Smartzones and its a painful handicap to reduce (especially LWs) by the 2KG as SZ overhead).

I have looked at your bot design and I think a variation could be made that would be constructed in the Bot Lab.

Let me know and glad to assist if you need to adjust...
