As Emergency is clearly the one that gives new players the most trouble I thought I'd ask you guys what you think the second most difficult bot is/was. I was going for coal miner (but after the little stock tourney I ran yesterday I'd say iceberg is up there too)

Well... I started up the RA2CF.exe. There I clicked on Team HQ, selected a team and went for an empty slot to go to the botlab. there I drew the basic for for the chassis. after that I adjusted the hight and went to the components tab. I added a bunch, deleted some, rearanged some bits. After I was happy with the look of the bot I went to the paint job tab and exported the skin and template. I opend it up in gimp and resized the .bpm to 512x512 pixels. then I looked at the real robots as a reference and I made the skin for the bot ingame. I fiddled around with it and loaded up the latest skin onto the bot to see if everything sits right. after I was done I made some screenshots, edited them and uploaded them into this showcase.

I just edited the post above. And it's sorta like the magic wand but without picking up stuff you don't want to be picked up. in the end your tutorial is a good thing for beginners who can improve the quality of their showcases when they start of as the end result is what matters so cheers

It's not the magic want tool but the one next to it. it selects one color and pics every pixel with exactly that color which is really helpfull as the backdrop is just one color and it's very unlikely your bot has exactly that shade of blue (in this case). I used to use the magic wand and I had the problem you just said but then I discovered that tool
Edit: at the case of polyparts it leaves them as they are in a different shade of blue. all you have to do is change the chroma (if that's the right word.. had to look it up)

it's a nice and helpfull tutorial but I feel it's way easier and faster with gimp and that tool over there

you have to use two angle component to make them look like this. once you get the hang of it you can build your bot around it :)
