Tournament Guide Section 5 (Discussion Forum) has been updated. Point 4 now contains information as to the building standards relating to the mod a tournament will be run in (Stock, DSL, etc.).

Thank you NFX. So all issues are cleared correct?
They are now. While building a bot in something other than DSL 2.1 for a DSL 2.1 tournament isn't against the rules, you need to adhere to the building restrictions in DSL 2.1, i.e. hexplates don't attach to Magmotors. So, unfortunately for ty4er, his bot is thus illegal and will need to be replaced. I'll update stuff tomorrow (possibly) to reflect the decision.

No the generic one.
Why can't you put a hex on a mag? IIRC Badnik did it in the first 2L2Q and nobody had a problem with it.
It won't attach for anybody with normal DSL 2.1......
I've asked GK for clarification on this issue. Simply saying "DSL 2.1" is a little bit vague to me, it could either mean the bots have to be built in DSL 2.1, or it could mean that only the tournament is being filmed in DSL 2.1. There have been previous instances of robots being built outwith DSL 2.1 for DSL 2.1 tournaments, but none of them have had the component attachment problem, to the best of my knowledge. We'll have a definitive answer on this soon.

Very nice. I'm not a fan on the inward-facing wheels, that would slow turning considerably, plus it looks quite ugly to me. Defensively, though, it's a winning plan, plus those casters. Hopefully those extenders manage to hold together.

Marty in Round 1...I was hoping for an easier opponent, but hey ho. I will start the match against Marty disc-down, please.

Looks like a decent crop of bots this time around. GK should give me a great indication as to whether my invertibleness tactics work or not. I like the looks of some of the IRL bots as well, Pwnator's design looks brilliant, and Mr AS has entered substandard DSL again, but hey ho. I suppose it could be built, and then it would fail. What I cannot believe, though, is how someone has managed to make SFTW even worse. I'm almost tempted to give him +1 rep for pulling it off.

High school never ends.
Sure it does. You'll even miss it when it ends. Trust me. I graduated in 2009 and it didn't take me but about a day to want to go back.
Sometimes get that feeling myself- even only a year later, I feel like an old git
Try being 20. =D

It looks like a pretty good design, if a little underweaponed. Maybe widening the spinners, and adding some kind of ramming setup inbetween might offer a bit more attacking power, a bit more of a defensive setup, and eat up a fair chunk of the remaining weight you've got.

Perhaps 20cms on the discs with razors pointing outward, and perhaps some more pointing inward to damage bots going up and over the top, plus protect the exposed motor backsides. That'll eat up another 128kg, but that leaves another 134kg to use up. Aside from more drive, I'm not too sure what might work.

The sex life of nearly every member of GTM.
I haven't got one, so bang goes your theory.

So yesterday I saw this:
Well since nfx made a hs/fs hybrid, i thought i'd find a way to remake Zealot with hpzes. Zealot 2 (Image removed from quote.) (Image removed from quote.) 396.6 with plastic, 402.9 with dsa 1 black Any ideas how to lose weight? 2 nifties and a smaller chassis is 2 kgs heavier than what I have now(17.5kgs)
And I decided to return the favour. (Image removed from quote.) 398.7, 1 Black, DSA. Havoks a little if it turns too quickly, which could probably be sorted with a reasonable AI line. Not tested invertibility yet, but it'll obviously be compromised with the FS on the front. I can't remember if Snapper-bursted Z-Teks are as fast as HPZ's either, but they're fast enough, I reckon. I'm more pleased with it than the previous version.
I could perhaps find a more efficient way of attaching them to get HPZ drive.
> 397.0 > DSA > 1 Black > All built from a SnapperII + Fast + Damaging + Invertible (ish) - Low battery life - Moderately havok-prone

And what else might it do? Can we stare into its soul, i.e. components?

BB2 looks pretty cool, but I'm worried about the havok stability with that wheel on that motor. I assume they're slimbodies. Maybe you could axle load the wheels out of the way, then the flipper segments could go alongside the chassis, I think that would look a bit more sturdy, rather than all converging at one point.
Woodland Terror looks a bit like Demolisher from Series 1 with a spinner plonked on top. Not the best, but it should do alright.
Phalanx's shape is pretty cool, but I think it'd match up better if the chassis lined up with the panels, or the wheels were mounted outwith the chassis behind them.
Empire, I think it would look better the other way around. Similar to Behemoth, perhaps.

Looks like something that came from one of the first series of Robot Wars... I like it :)
Good idea with the Skirt Hinge, a true forward firing flipper motor is needed badly in RA2.
I'm pretty sure I saw this done in Wham's AI pack. It's alright if you're doing IRL building, in my view, because - as you said - there's no proper front-hinged flipper motor in RA2, just by virtue of the game mechanics. It's kind of in the same vein as BFE'ing the chassis height is alright. But I do like the early RW designs that you saw in the first couple of series, the one-at-the-front-one-at-the-back designs, like Stealth, Centurion, Roadblock to an extent.

*sigh, no 1WD* It's not even OP... Yet 140cm extender is allowed...
While 1WD might not be particularly OP, especially in the heavier weight classes (as I proved in Box Of Nightmares ), the 140cm square extender is nowhere near as OP as 1WD. The 140cm extender is a huge target with only 100HP, whereas the weight saved with 1WD as opposed to 2WD is usually spent on either weaponry or defense, neither of which is anywhere as easy to remove as the 140cm extender. Besides, it's the host's decision as to what's legal and what isn't.

AS is correct. The ramplates are probably mounted too close to the chassis. The impact of a heavy HS, or probably a rammer of some kind will force the ramplates to flex back momentarily, exposing the chassis and allowing the opponent to inflict damage. Simply moving the SnapperII's forwards a little will solve this problem. Very good build aside from that, though. Internals?

I like the fact the 140cm extender is allowed. You do see quite a few interesting designs that utilise it, it's a shame to exclude it just because of the weight.

Congratulations to Pwn. I'm a bit annoyed about losing to GK twice, but I'm very glad I defeated S_M's 1WD machine, plus another Third Place isn't too bad. I'm like Andy Murray.
I reckon 090901'd do alright with running a tournament in the future, given how quickly this got off the ground again. Provided he's able to stick to the allocated timeframe.

Responsibilities outside of GTM should take precedent over a small internet community of enthusiasts of a specific video game, in my view. It's perfectly understandable why he hasn't uploaded the videos yet if he's had a lot on his plate (although somehow still finding time to be on GTM) to me, I don't believe Naryar is in the wrong. However, ejection from the tournament seems a bit excessive to me for simple impatience and spam in a tournament thread. I think a Warn should suffice, perhaps a Mute for a couple of days at the absolute most.
