So I made a thing:

Heavyweight, 2 NPC drive. Wings down stabilizes drive, wings up allows the tail flipper to help right the thing if it flips, so it's a pretty solid replica of the mechanisms in Warhead/Predator

If you want middleweight vertical spinners, there's plenty to choose from. VD5, Professor Chaos, Heavy Metal Noise, Besta, Locust, Stewie, Terminal Velocity, Village Idiot, etc...

Bob looks great, btw.

Discussion / Re: Any bot names?

I use it for the real bots, mostly, but end up recycling the names in RA2. They're all Greek origin and mostly personifications of concepts

Existing/past bot names:
Moros- Personification of the sense of impending doom
Kobalos- a sprite from Greek Mythology, a mischievous creature fond of tricking and frightening mortals.

Apollyon- The destroyer, greek term used for the devil
Nyx- Personification of night
Algos- Spirit of pain and suffering
Keres - Violent or cruel death

Future possible names:
Erebus - Darkness
Tartarus - God of great stormy tartarean pit
Bia - Force, Power, Might, Bodily Strength, Compulsion
Apate - Trick, Fraud, Deceit, Guile, Treachery
Dolos - Trickery, Cunning Deception, Craftiness, Guile, Treachery
Gelos - Laughter
Oizys - Woe, Misery
Phobus - Panic-Fear, Flight, Rout
Phrike - Horror
Momus - god of mockery, blame, ridicule, scorn, complaint and stinging criticism.

Found the issue with skin exporting. The export/import buttons work at lower res, but when set to 1600x1280 the buttons don't work.

Funny thing is Enforcer is the name of a real life lightweight Battlebot and it currently holds the record for the longest competing Battlebot, 15+ years now.

While sort of accurate, Enforcer is now a 30lb sportsman class robot and has not yet competed this year.

As far as I can tell, export/import paint template isn't working. It works fine in a few other mods I've got, so I'm thinking it's DSL3 related.

Here's a few test bots. Seems like some of the old wheels haven't had the mesh updated and still wire as they normally would. The new components seem nice. The other think I noticed is it seems like all the spin motors I've tested are generally slower and more torque-y

A few quick things-

The AR600x, as far as I know, doesn't failsafe correctly. Luckily rx's that do are cheap.

I use this one in my ants: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11972__OrangeRx_R410_Spektrum_DSM2_Compatible_4Ch_2_4Ghz_Receiver.html

This should work if you need 6 channels: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__31224__OrangeRx_R620_Spektrum_JR_DSM2_Compatible_Full_Range_6Ch_2_4Ghz_Receiver_w_Failsafe.html

If you need to save space/weight, you could switch to mini-deans or jst connectors: http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-CAJSTX.html or http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0C-DMICRO.html

Eventually swapping to a lipo would be good, but at least for now you'll have plenty of run time.

DP

Would you guys be OK with a couple of robots having weapons that clip the motors a little? They won't be visible in game, as it's all internal, just wanted to get a consensus before I accepted them.

If it's a "This would be legit if there were more belt options or slightly better component positioning" thing, I'm fine with it, and for that matter, if it's a "if you shave <25% of the weapon head off" thing, I'm ok with that too.
