OK this doesn't need to be here.  We already have the Jokes thread for this kind of spam stuff.

As of moments earlier, the biggest HW that can be built within the max_sphere was Click's Phasmatodean. Now it isn't. :P

(Image removed from quote.)

Introducing Galactus. 1mm plastic, NPCs, 4 ants. Instead of fitting the whole bar within the boundaries, I only made sure the middle bar was within the limits, so instead of just having a 4.4-meter bar, this bar is 6 full meters long!

But yeah, since this is just a bot for show, it sucks. 10k+ hits are still awesome, though. :P

*speechless*

Fight Sir Killalot in the Infinity Arena with it!

Also, I can't help noticing that the bar is bigger than Phasmatodean's while the stabilizers are the same size.  Must be pretty unstable, right?

And this design can be "realistic" if you add another extender going up on the other side of the motor, and pretend the two halves of the bot are connected at the axle.  (Though you would need something like a 1 foot diameter axle IRL in order to take the stress.)

The bindings you originally sent had 'radius':0.3, and later you sent a pm saying that was a mistake and it should be 0.1.

If you want I'll try to fix the radius for the AI pack.  (This goes for What Sheck Spinner? too, as it does the same thing with hitting the center wall.)

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I better beat Hredder... :P

I find it amusing and ironic that you beat S Cargo, which you thought you would lose to, and then lost to Predator, which you thought you would beat.  Look at it this way, you got 1 more win than you originally expected.

Damn hazards and AI driving fail (my fault really, it keeps doing that "drive into the disc guard at start" thing and gets off balance)

It needs a bigger radius to avoid doing that.  I would use 'radius':1, but you said you wanted it 0.1 so... that's what you get.  But really there's no guarantee that you would win even if Hredder didn't do that in round 1.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: how to get video on top of a background?
« on: August 07, 2010, 01:38:21 AM »
Well what you could do for free (I thought Daemon was doing this but now that I think about it it's probably some fancier program):

Make the bot's highlight video like normal.  Then open it up and arrow through it frame by frame, taking a screenshot of each one.  Now resize and paste all those frames into the bot pic/info image.  Turn those into a .gif animation or a .avi, which can then be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

However, it will be EXTREMELY time-consuming (at 30 fps, a 5-second highlight video = 150 frames you have to make).  But once you get it done you don't need to do it ever again for that bot, unless you want to change the highlight video.

I think the spinners should be more undercutty, so the tribars/motors don't get hit by HS's.  But cool design.  I bet the name comes from the battle axe with the tribars coming out looking like a sun, right?

Point of Impact is cool, but the chassis looks mighty exposed.  Can it beat stuff?

On HANNAH Returns, I would put the razors to the side, acting as side/forward stabilizers, rather than in the middle where they block the disc.

:O Those are awesome intros.  I daresay they rival the new BBEANS intros for coolness and fancyness.  The only way I can think of to do that would be to take video of the bots in the bot lab, paste them into the splash screen frame by frame, and turn it into a .gif animation which you could import into Movie Maker.  Which would explain why the intros are so short.

Are these all your bots?

Trial and error.  Fight some horizontal spinners, and if the hammer extenders get hit before you lose your razors, it needs to be curved more.

the sides of jugglers are more forward then the middle so other bots go over the middle not into it :P

Love the FS/juggler hybrid though.  I would try to remove the plow, and move the face spinners back and up so that they functionally replace it.  It would be more durable (as long as the motors don't get hit) and might be better at chewing up bots from more angles.

J/K Rowling?... I will enter if I can think of something original.

I think that Alcoholic Stepfather'll be in DSL 3.

Correct!

I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, make a BOTM bot and make progress on DSL3 at the same time ;)

Lost by two votes huh?  Well I can't complain, I voted for 123stw, for the sheer insanity of the thing.  If I voted for myself instead it would've been a tie.  Though G.K. almost got my vote because it's a cool design, just needs some bottom armor.

I like the smoke tornado from Pyromania's drive motors.  :gawe:   Fits perfectly with the ring of fire.

I didn't say anything about your bot.  I was just surprised that Repulsor lost, to ANY bot not named Thwartoise (which was built to counter it and bots like it).

Still, the fact that you beat Repulsor even after it got off the wall and started spinning (I thought it was going to win at that point) says that you have a good bot.

I have no idea how Bane  or Stanley passed the controlled movement test - none of my clones even come close to anything resembling controlled movement.

I made a special .py for Stanley, Bane, and Predator.  The AI pulses the weapon motor on and off (the pulse length is customizable in Bindings) and while the weapon motor is off, the bot drives toward the opponent.  The weapon is only on constantly when the opponent is very close and the shell is at risk of being stopped.  If you look closely at the videos you can see those shell spinners take little "steps" toward the opponent (but Bane and Stanley also sit-and-spin when they get close, so you can only see them moving from far away or if the no-hits timer expires).  Also, the weapon motor turns off when they are being counted out.

Of course, a Bane vs. Stanley final will still be boring and I hope it doesn't happen... but the bots will hit each other.

Anyway, BOT: loser's bracket round 3 matches are up!

A few surprises and a lot of very close fights.  Altogether excellent matches.

That would turn out to just be who gets lucky. There isn't much you can do as a LW against that.

Cheese please: Wow you must have been digging deep in my showcase to find that.  The weapons do spin faster on servos, and the spikes aren't better on Y connectors, but they do give a wider spread and protect the motors.  And wedges are definitely better on burst motors than on anchors.  The wedges on DQ3:00 were more acting as stabilizers than actual wedges.

ianh05: I'd love to make an AW Sacrifice, but I can't think of a way for it to flip over at the start of the match and still have weight for casters.  I suppose I could just make a regular caster-armored pusher, but what would be the fun in that.

1779
OUCH!  It stung me!

Nice work, it's even better than I thought it would be.  I was thinking you could get like 4 razors on there.
