Design award: Metal Mutts Original AND effective. Coolness award: L1TT13 M3T4L FR13ND v2.0 One of 2 bots that has a really good skin, and I like it better than Metal Mutts. Most anonying award: Metal Mutts Is anything more frustrating than being totally unharmed, but stuck on top of a little MW and unable to move? Darwin Award: L1TT13 M3T4L FR13ND v2.0 It was basically reduced to a bare chassis in the finals.
BTRSHDBBDDTBL award: BackScratch Yeah it won the loser's bracket, but could've gone further in the winner's bracket if it didn't get R0B0 first round.
Say WHAT?! award: Trappor Wrong version of the bot, exposed extenders, weird pole spike fingers... didn't expect 2 wins from this.

Death of shell spinners round it seems...
Hence the warning about Major Upset(s). Though Resentful Princess is still undefeated (and beat the #1 seed ). Since I've never seen it Havok, it might cause trouble for Missile Test next round.

Good match R0B0, the wedge battle was a little dicey there; I'm just lucky BYGR managed to find a way to slip under you both matches. Round 2 was very close. Also, I haven't won more tournaments this week than you in 5 years... we're tied. This is my first tournament win. But you still have more 2nd places.

Round 4 is up! Warning: Major upset(s) alert! I'm afraid the videos will be slowing down a bit here, as I'm going to Arizona for 10 days in order to learn how to identify native bees . But after that we'll be moving right along again, heading into the quarterfinals. Hey click, have you ever released the songs you use in these battles somewhere? Because I just noticed that I have a few of them.
Firebeetle has a Facebook fan page with all his music on it, if you have Facebook. Just search for Ninja Zone.

best of 3, 3 minute Deathmatches.
This is almost too long even with LW's. With UHW's... you could be talking over-15-minute fight videos here, without heavy editing. Also, keep in mind that bots with more components are laggier. So something with a lot of heavy hammers and Overkill wedges and whatnot won't be too bad. Some of 123savethewhales's UHW's, on the other hand, would be VERY laggy. I remember him talking about some flamethrower UHW that was so laggy it crashed the game. Also, name suggestion: Legendary Awesome Giants (L.A.G.)

And Clickbeetle, I think you made the wrong call in the Star Dust vs. WSS? match: According to your rules, free restarts can ONLY be granted if ALL THREE of the conditions are met, which are controlled movement, sufficient battery, AND and undamaged control board. Since Star Dusts' control board was quite damaged I don't think it qualifies a free restart. So the fight should be scored 2-1 for SD with 2 KO's and 1 TKO for WSS. Look again, Star Dust's control board was not damaged... its chassis was still at about half health, in fact.
Maybe I haven't clearly defined what a "damaged control board" is. I intended it to mean when your chassis HP is depleted and the control board actually gets hit and makes that familiar kzzzzrkt sound. So a bot only doesn't get a free restart if the little control board icon under its name is flashing yellow or red.

My mum was sorting out the cupboard under the stairs (where we keep my orphaned cousin, after both his parents died after some man got them with a stick
HOLY GUACAMOLE IT'S HARRY POTTER Alejandro looks good, I fear that Hunter will be outdated by the time I get around to making it in DSL3. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about spike vs. axe. Hammers in general don't do much damage in the lighter weight classes, and electric hammers also don't do much; they're mostly for show. Just go with whatever looks cooler.

I see you used my suggestion for SilverStream. Is it better?
The LW VS looks great, dunno how you fit so many weapons on there.

I think he means why not use an iron spike and a mace, or two iron spikes, instead of an iron spike and a small wedge since they're the same weight.
It is cooler with the wedge, but not the most efficient design.

why does that remind me of a certain clickbeetle bot?
cloning/copying won't get you many comments, I suggest you try things you don't see in showcases instead of things you do see as you will get more interest... that is why Click is so popular :P
Actually that first version is not very much like Deathwatch Queen at all... the only similarity is the iron spikes on Y connectors, and the 2 HPZ + 2 normal Z-tek drive. It's just that pretty much all dual-disc stock HW VS's look alike. Also, you should give it a bit bigger chassis so you can get 4WD in there.

Side hammers work best when hybridized with rammers. The front is typically very vulnerable (just look at your old BBEANS3 bot Mini Cutman) so having a tough weapon rack in front really helps with survivability.
Looks like a good start so far though... your building skills have improved in your absence.

You know you play RA2 too much when......you duct tape five knives together in a row in order to cut your steak faster. ...you're planning on building a real bot, and the first thing you do is Google for "control boards". ...you walk into a bicycle shop to buy a new bike, and you are appalled to discover that all of them use regular aluminum frames when they could use double strength aluminum. ...you're planning on building a real bot, a flipper, and the first thing you do is Google for "burst motors". ...it's the dead of winter and your car won't start, so you ask the mechanic how much it would cost to stack another battery in your car. ...you cross your arms and you are surprised to discover that you collide with yourself. ...you walk into a car dealer intending to buy a new car, and you are appalled to discover that all of the available models use car steering. ...you're planning on building a real bot, a heavyweight horizontal spinner, and the first thing you do is build a chassis the size of a shoebox. ...on a hot summer day, you hang the fan in your room from a string attached to the ceiling in order to make it spin faster. ...you won't walk into a surplus store because you're afraid all the loose electric motors might cause a Havok explosion. ...you rent a new apartment and you immediately complain to the landlord, "There's too much empty space! You need to build the apartment around the furniture, not take some random room and fill it with whatever furniture fits." ...you're planning on building a real bot, a vertical spinner, and the first thing you do is go to Menards and ask the clerk where they keep their 120-centimeter saw blades. ...you step on the scale and you are pleased to discover that you only weigh 246.7 kilograms. ...you try out for the school football team, and you become angry when the coach won't accept the AI you wrote for yourself. ...you understand all of the above jokes.

@NFX: WIN. Especially after Naryar vs. JoeBlo in BBEANS6. Though a more accurate analogy to that fight, and perhaps an even funnier comic as well, would be if Naryar says, "They protect my eyes!" (or something) and then JoeBlo pokes him, and he shouts, "ARGH! MY BRAINS!" (because Predator magically hit through the skirt hinge armor and hit Terrible Sight's razors, leaving the chassis untouched.)

My guess is, you need the 1.2/1.3 patch for the main RA2 exe (not DSL). That comes with the hover engine. A quick test: type in cheatbot2 for your bot's name. If nothing happens, you need to patch the exe. (The complete-copy DSL's up for download include this exe, or you can get the patch from the official robotarena.com site or from GTM's download section.)

Well Mad said that he didn't have time to do it. Giga said you were a "maybe" I think, so I told him I would start on it, and I guess he didn't pass the news on to you.
Well good thing you weren't far on it yet. Not much effort wasted.

*Goes to download* WAT 48.1 MB? Either you put in some extra special candy, or this is going to be really long and epic... or both. Edit: That was a lot less close than I hoped. Well I got 1 win out of 6 at least. Well done Inf; your bots are tough and they aren't very vulnerable to Trial and Error's undercutting/overcutting tactics. And 2nd place is still the best I've done in a tourney to date.

THANK YOU CLICKBEETLE. I was done for if those bloody pups advanced. Now if I get past Rolo, at least I'll have a chance xD
Don't thank me yet, you're still done for if you get past Rolo. Actually it should be a good final match; Backyard Gut-Ripper has excellent wedges but I'd wager that LMF's are good as well. Good match JoeBlo, you had me worried after round 1, especially when the Mutts had my bot pinned in the corner again.

the delays would be my fault, I have only really now got enough spare hours for the first time in 2 weeks to work on the arena
Wait what, YOU'RE working on the arena too? Gigafrost asked ME to work on it! We might end up with two ELBITE arenas here... I guess Gigafrost can just pick the one he likes best. Unless yours isn't very far yet, then maybe we could make it a joint effort. Here's what I have done: Just the basic layout and the walls, which lower to OOTA-able height after 30 seconds. Still needs a bit of skin work and the tesla coil in the middle. I'll be quite busy over the next couple weeks so I probably won't be able to work on it more... maybe you can finish it up? Here's the download: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/files/elbite.zip (the rest of ya'll can practice in it and make predictions if you want.)

Wow,
I beat Robo... But oh god, Inf is next! No, Inf beat me, we get a rematch in the loser's bracket. Which I've just seen and which is spoiled later in this post, for fair warning.
Also, GRAH the floor beat me! I totally had Inf beat on points in round 1, if only Havok didn't stick me in the floor!
Well it looks like we get a rematch for the grand final... if I can avoid Havok and I can avoid the claws (haha) then I believe I have a chance here.

It's Scrap >:O
THANK YOU FOR RUINING DSL MR. DADDY.
Somebody someone would have done it eventually, even if Scrap Daddy never made Iron Spaghetti. Flail shell spinners have existed since very soon after DSL2 first came out (I should know, I made the first one), and it was only a matter of time until one appeared in a tournament. I was actually quite happy when I got Iron Spaghetti for BBEANS4. I thought, "Now everyone will finally see how good flail spinners are!" I never expected them to become THIS prevalent, though. Anyways, round 4 of the loser's bracket is up! And we're down to the final 16 bots now (the top quarter, for those not so good at math or perhaps just lazy at math). All I can say is, anyone still in the tournament at this point, you've done very well, even if you don't go all the way.
