I prefer FPS (even though I suck playing them  :gawe: )
I will have to look into this Darkspore game though... I have Diablo roots as well.  My Guild Wars kick has pretty much worn off, but I am waiting for the sequel.

Free open beta currently online, no better time then now :P

everyone was all disappoint over the fact you cant create a creature from scratch.

There are reasons for that, Like in pvp people need to know who they are facing so they can react to it.

I played the beta too but after 3 days it got very boring. It`s always the same and you can`t really decide what skills you want to have. also 100 heros are to much to only use 3 in the end.

The best point of the game was the editor but it also was timeconsuming. Problem was that you have to go to the editor after each map to upgrade all heros with the new stuff. If you play in a party and someone decides to continue without going to the editor and someone else does go there the first one has to wait till person B has finished.

I`m not going to buy it.

thing is with 25 heroes each with 4 variants making the perfect squad based on squad abilities becomes very interesting, if 1 hero has a blink/teleport and another has a skill that puts an AoE around them you could put up your AoE and teleport into a group of enemies dealing damage from the teleport and damage over time once you get there from your AoE.

there are only really 25 heroes, each with 4 variants that have a different squad ability from what i understand and a slightly different look. you can have 3 squads of 3 heroes so 9 heroes in your squads that you can use. You can still switch them out if you get bored of them and try the others, you can use them all if you want to change your squads.

customizing and adding on gear is very easy, you only have to put on 3 or so new items the rest like feet, hands and weapon just replace what's there already.

my favorite hero at the moment is viper, he's a poison-based bio genesis ravager (melee damage dealer/dps).

original viper:

My Viper, aka HypnoViper:

- Blinking eyes on his shoulders.
- Long tendrils.
- Eyes give off an aura.

use a shield doubled up for his eyes :)

Great game thus far from wait I've seen/played in beta, it's a diablo 3 style game with an editor like that from spore obviously restrictions are needed so you can't make a hero from scratch and that's not a bad thing IMO.

25 Different Heroes each with 4 variants, has PvE (Co-op and single) and PvP, you build squads of 3 heroes which you can switch between while playing and strategy comes into play there as each hero has a different squad ability that can be used by any hero in your squad.

Anyone else been lucky enough to get into the beta? or watched videos? If not there's an open beta starting tonight/tomorrow depending on where you are, I recommend you check it out if you like hack 'n slash action RPG's.

Couple of new screenshots, first up my newest champion named SandStorm:

next is Whirlpool using his own water shield while floating in mid-air with his water flight:

Anyone else played this game yet? It's free to download and play, would be cool to see what others here could create.

he's my blood control/manipulation champion, he can deal damage, take damage or heal others using blood powers :)

there isn't a blood powerset but i can take different powers from a variety of powersets and recolor the powers red to make them look like blood powers :P i take healing powers which are usually white and make them red so it looks like a blood transfer.

Lost part match - first robot to remove a part of the other robot wins.

Those would be quick matches..
I can already see the robots make out of Hammers and Overkill wheels

i was thinking, instead of rotating weapons you could use rotating defense like plows and ramplates so that they could all take turns of taking damage :P

Sounds like the birth child of Robozone and the Challenge board

Its too heavily involved in my opinion and could be too demanding on the champions and those that have to host..

nice thought though..

1.champions could upload the bots with bindings using the file host and post it for hosts to download, then all they need to do is accept a challenge and pick a match.
2.hosting would still be the same apart from special matches which need approval and even then only someone willing to host that kind of match would volunteer.

Possible upgrade for the challenge board?

Robot arena 2 champions league idea:

Each version of the game and every official class in it has a champion that is a robot not a builder. it works pretty much the same as the challenge board currently only you have champions you can challenge for a championship.

Stock:

Antweight Champion -
Beetlweight Champion -
Lightweight Champion -
Middleweight Champion -
Heavyweight Champion -
Superheavyweight Champion -
Ultraheavyweight Champion -

DSL:

Antweight Champion -
Beetlweight Champion -
Lightweight Champion -
Middleweight Champion -
Heavyweight Champion -
Superheavyweight Champion -
Ultraheavyweight Champion -

Rules:

1. At least 1 champion must defend it's championship each week.
2. You can only challenge 1 champion each week.
3. If a champion is inactive for a month the championship becomes vacated until the next challenge in that class/weight.
4. A builder can only have a max of 2 champions.
5. The champion decides the type of match.
6. Builders can create a match type in the create a match thread and can choose from approved matches in that topic if they are a current champion.

Example of matches:

Endurance match - a 15-30 minute match, most victories in the time limit wins.
Beat the box match - fastest robot to destroy the box or the robot who deals the most damage in the time limit wins.
Lost part match - first robot to remove a part of the other robot wins.

Ermm yeah, same rules as before :P

tournaments need variety imo, you could mix it up a little
This is pretty original anyway IMO, and why change what people like?

BBEANS changes weight classes and that makes sure all builders get to build at their favorite weight at some point.
My Robo Zone tournament was going to have different types of challenges and possibly change weight class.

you don't need to do the same thing over and over you can mix things up a little for variety if you know what i mean.

Is that... a Small Arena skinned like a Combat Arena?  :gawe:

And I don't recall seeing Mini Hellbringer in your showcase.  I'm guessing it's an axle FS?

yeah it is, using it as a temp mini combat zone until Joe has enough spare time to work on his mini combat zone. I'm showcasing all mini's in the stock mini's topic, it is an axle chicken drill style FS with an iron spike.

thanks glad you like them :) If you really want an online tournament i suggest you figure out a way for it to work out with lag, time schedules etc. or you could just set up a challenge like system for online battles.

I don't think anyone is playing multi-player these days, lots of vets are either gone or not around much at all. also with the amount of tourneys and other things going on I don't think people would even bother and AI vs AI determines who's bot is better instead of who drives better/gets less lag :P
