Have you installed any software before the problems started occuring? Is your computer malware-free?

Dude, by only telling us "ZOMG MY SOUND DOESN'T WORK" and telling us what to do, you are NOT going to recieve any kind of help.
For a start, it wouldn't hurt to tell eu what OS you are runnning, what si exacyl ahppening,w hen did this start to happen, have you tried reinstalling your OS (if you're running Windows)... Describe the ****ing problem.

just outta curiosity, how long did it take to make that model and how long did it take to render on your computer, with all the textures on the object (if you have done that yet). BTW: do you have a quad core or a great computer? Mine is Dual core and has 2 gb ram, pretty slow sometimes... I have a dual core E7300 overclocked from 2.66 to 3.5Ghz. I also have 8GB of ram (since I have a 64-bit OS). The moeling took me about one evening, renderign that thing took me two minutes.

What kind of weapon is that? It looks like a flamethrower, but the barrel is too short. It's a headcrab gun. It shoots out headcrab NPC's that attack the player you aimed at :P. Would it be possible to convert the RA2 components into props in G-Mod? Yeah, but id't take ages.

[Duck ****ing around with a raytracer] You know, rendering using materials isn't hard, try to make your own model, then map it. I've probably posted this before, but this is a viewmodel for a SWEP (scripted weapon) for Garry's Mod that I started to model some time ago, but haven't yet had the time to finish it (plus, exporting from max to Source is a pain in the ass). EDIT: Argh, imgur converted my sexy .png to a noisy .jpg. It would also cause a lot of lag, circular objects have tons of vertices. Meh, with today's graphics card it wouldn't be that much of a problem. The only thing that would be slow, is file loading, RA2's routines are awful.

Nice job skinning it, FB. I know it's a nightmare to do it when editing .gmf's by hand.
Good job, seriously.

Both the box and the crane are super easy to make, even using normal paper. The transofmring disk / star is eaven easier, but takes a sh**load of time (8 modules to be folded separately). My favourite thing to make is a crane that flaps its wings when you pull it's tail. :D

Ok one of the main reasons i did that stuff is because my life is complete bullsh**. i have only 2 friends, most kids hate me, and i get bullied a TON. GTM was the only place that i could actually enjoy, and inf ruined it for me. Stop being a pussy, get your ass out of your house and go meet new people.

that would work for wheels, but not for spinning weapons... Components aren't going to be "bouncy". The constraints will just stretch when enough force is applied.

what about Dark Basic ? it is quick to learn, fast feed back. it propose some collision management etc. Why darkbasic, when there is C++, eventually C++ using python for scripted stuff, like RA2. Python is easy enough for everybody to learn, and yet is not proprietary.

All can be done using these node meshes, so that one node mesh is used for the whole robot, and components don't alway fall of at their attachement point, but at the weakest part. The nodes and connectors can have a different strength attribute to differentiate how strong a part of the robot is.

Softbody physics? Pure softbody is a bit slow, and AFAIK there is no open-source engine made for game developement, and writing one from scratch would be a nightmare, especially collision handling and so on. That's why combining the two gives us the best of both worlds - fast and stable rigid body physics + minimal soft body physics for component distortion.
