This is the best a rammer has ever done in a BBEANS? Top 6?
Brown Wreckluse 2 also had a 4-2 record in BBEANS3. However, 1.8 stayed longer in the winner's bracket so it was able to be in the final 6. (BW2 was only final 12.) Also, I believe Sage now has the most wins and the most KO's ever scored by a single bot in a single tournament. No one has ever climbed so far out of the loser's bracket from a second-round loss. From this one tournament, he will more than double his number of KO's. I have only one thing to say. GO MINNESOTA!

Here's what I do.
1. Import all the video into Windows Movie Maker and arrange it into a nice fight video.
2. If the total length of the video is more than about 5 minutes, cut out the less-interesting parts until it's 5 minutes or less (5:30 at most).
3. When saving the movie file, check "Fit to file size..." rather than "Best quality playback for my computer". (Best quality for your computer =/= best quality for Internet.)
4. Make the target file size as small as possible while keeping 640x480 resolution. (Usually the kbps will be ~500-550.) For a 5-minute video, the file size will be a little over 20 MB.
5. ????
6. Profit.

Loser's Bracket Round 8 is up! This is the last of the numbered rounds. From here on, it's all quarterfinals and semifinals and rumbles.
Also, we're down to the final 4 bots now!
Also also, since all the rounds consist of just one fight from now on, I'm thinking of doing some grudge matches, just for a bit of extra content to go with my tournament updates. These won't be part of the BBEANS canon; they won't affect rankings and they won't be on the official site. I'll just upload them to Youtube, kind of like the teaser match I posted before BBEANS6 started.
The grudge matches will involve bot pairs that should have fought in the tournament but didn't. For example, Bot With MOVING Spikes vs. Bot with spinny thingy, Power Surge vs. Power Surge 3, Guardian Angels vs. Death of Angels 2, and Reier's Avatar 3 vs. S Cargo. I'll probably post the first one on the next update.

That actually sounds like a cool idea, if you could somehow ensure that matches would be fast. Like do it in an arena with lots of hazards, or limit it to 1 minute. It would be fun trying to guess what the bots that were doing really well looked like.

I don't know, that bot looks like it could tip over backwards while climbing hills. Or the weapons might hit the ground and it would flip itself. Looks powerful though.

I've made several bots completely invisible but the AI bots aren't confused unless you mess with their targeting.
Exactly... which is why it could be tournament-legal. Or more likely, you could make a stealth team in an AI pack or something. Hmm... maybe I should submit a team to NAR AI.

Hehehe, I finally got R17's AI working reasonably well... it still won't outwedge anything without a healthy dose of luck (I can't be bothered to play the wedge war), but any rammers or SnS better watch out.
Now when is this going to start!

It looks cool but is messy at the same time. If something rips off these panels before the weapons go out... :P
If it can beat popups, it's good enough for me. Cool idea... there's really not much chassis for popups to hit. I'm surprised it doesn't Havok though.

I would have hidden that, but I couldn't because it's in styles. So I settled for just putting a warning in all caps in the description. (In retrospect though, I suppose I could have easily removed it from the styles list. Oh well.)

It's been so long since I made any custom edges, I don't remember, if I ever knew at all.
I think you can just leave all those settings as is and just edit a copy of bloody_drips.tga. Works well enough.
If you're curious, try changing the settings and see what happens. (I seem to recall that one of them made the edge thicker or narrower.)

How is such a thing possible? You really pulled out all the stops to reduce lag... high tick interval, low polys, even hiding components on bots. Now all that's left is to actually try it online. There's a lot of cool Python tricks in here that I didn't know about. *Gets an idea for a stealth AI that turns itself invisible.* And I'm sure you could use that def NextWatchCamera for a lot of cool stuff. Also, self.ClearCameraBlockers() will be very helpful for filming matches with Orbit cam.

Great work with the intros Giga.
If the game is too laggy, it might be because I had to make the arena very high-poly in order to make it shiny like that. If necessary, I can make a low-poly version that isn't as shiny.

Yes. The .gmf appears in the Event Results mini-arena, and the .tga appears in your Team HQ.

Actually I think S3's body is hidden. There are some components that, for whatever reason, crash the game when you click on them or try to attach them (even though they work in battle). S3's body and Nightmare's disc are two of these. I set those components to hidden = 2 so they don't show up even when you type cheatbot2.
You'll need to know how to AAM or BFE in order to use S3's body.

I'm just messing around with the bots in the event mode thing, which is when it usually crashes. Doesn't really seem to happen if I do it through exhibition.
Aha! The events were always touchy. It crashes if you lose a wheel in battle, and it also crashes sometimes seemingly at random. Your game is working, if not fine, then at least normally. There's nothing to be done about it.
