the lunar arena (is it I'm not sure as I don't often play KOTH) would make a better deathmatch/rumble arena

It's been done. Infact, I've done it. https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1569

General Support / RA2 runs at crawl speed
« on: May 30, 2009, 10:01:18 AM »
After playing a big game like Team Fortress 2, Robot Arena runs at crawl speed - it takes about 10 seconds to navigate to Exit, when you just got onto the Main Menu. The computer is powerful enough to run TF2 on max settings at virtually full FPS all of the time.

The only way to remedy it so far is to restart, ofcourse - But I'm wondering if there is a workaround, or something that could be used that'd bring RA2 back up to full speed without restarting.

Anyone have a clue?

Get the Starcore v3 AI pack and the LW will kill your HW in 3 seconds.

Very nicely put.

can somewhere download a ''Arena editor'' or something?

There is no GUI arena editor, only bare bones (de)compiling and GMF editing.

Wish there was though.

What's the bot count then?

Would of much preferred an orbit cam like they had here. The actual game's one is so loose you have to wait several seconds after a fast turn...

I changed my date to 1/1/02 and it works

Confirmed.

For some reason I think the tech demo gameplay is better then the actual game. It's much more fast pace.

Or perhaps it's just fresh. Oh well.

So...what is it.

It's a tech demo. Probably for something like E3. Or it could of been.

I have no idea what actually goes on in the actual demo, but apparently it's a 3 way battle between a bot with lifting spikes, a bot called Fang (no idea what it's weapon is) and a Nightmare clone.

Or maybe it's 2 way with a bot select. No idea.

Also, the bots themselves seem to be made up of one GMF file with no external files for components, rather of BOT files with those external files..

This is a SHW tournament due note. And because of this, I bet hardly any robots will be able to fit in the pit, purposefuly or not. So... the pit would then become useless.

I'm thinking the bots in question would lose mobility unless their wheels stretch out wide enough to be able to drive OVER the pit. Otherwise, the wheels will be suspended, and they'll be a sitting duck, either for a immobility countdown or just getting pummeled.

That didn't work either. Maybe the day needs to be changed too...

You have to set your comupter clock back to like 1999 (I forgot exactly, because it has been a long time...may be 2001)

Hmm.. tried 1999, 2000 and 2001. None of them worked.

Seems to be a stupid way to 'lock' a demo.

30kg hammers are better then ripping teeth, but you could have so much better on a HW.

Thinking of the same setup, try get a dual Perm or 6 mag gearbox, and attach a long DSL bar with 2 60kg sledgehammers or 70kg hammers.

Maybe not the best, but it'd be better.

Guess it's what really should be expected from the Winner's Bracket. The best meeting the best for theoretically the best matches.

Has anyone actually got the RA2 tech demo to work?

Curious. Want to see what it's like, but that weird problem where it loads but instantly exits before you see the 'main menu'

Do you know that 2 ripping teeth are not enough on a MW HS ?

It's a HW, but that only makes your point stronger.

Well, what did you know. I expected to lose 2-1 and I did. Sweetness.

Beautiful flip in the round 2 restart.

I read most of the wiki within my first week here

Maybe the rules of tl;dr don't apply in this forum. Or maybe you, like most of us, can be arsed to learn. :|

Look on the wiki, at how many people have "noob whacker" on their page. These people are the reason why new builders don't stay, unless they come on the forums planning to stay.

I'd be surprised if they read that thing.

(Whoops, the thing didn't go to the last page.. oh well, only quoted 20 days or so ago)

General Support / How to crop pictures in Microsoft paint.

^^ what the heck? ms paint is the bottom line easy cropping program. that and most people have it pre-installed.

In Photoshop you can have more complicated cutting areas easily.

Also the magic wand.

And I've had a lot of times in Paint where I couldn't continue a crop because the picture was too big for the screen.
