Why are you trying to take out the orange wire, you're supposed to take out the red(middle) wire.
I figured it was close enough to red, and it was the only middle wire I could find. What am I missing? Get a thin knife (like a Swiss Army Knife) and use it to pry back the black tab holding the gold pin inside the connector. Use the smallest hex key you have (if not you should get a set, they're really handy), and insert it into the connector and push it through.

In DSL, the armors have been rebalanced, so DSA (ie, not picking an armor) is actually the worst possible armor choice. If I remember correctly, the titanium ones are best on average.
