Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: rnifnuf's Ironforge Cavalcade of Contraptions« on: August 24, 2014, 03:20:57 PM »Moar battleaxes.Done. ![]() Armor is now Aluminum 1. The biggest challenge with making this new iteration is fitting six axes per arm instead of five. To do this, the armor, extenders, and wheels had to be compromised. It still spins at incredible speed and, thanks to the chassis being encased in dark shell plates/discs, can withstand a lot of hits. It is meant to have Melty Brain driving. Another new feature is the fact that it has two Die Hards instead of four small batteries. For the same amperage (I know this is irrelevant to power drain) it has four times the battery life as before, so in theory, the batteries should last four times longer than before. IMPROVEMENTS: +More weapons +Improved battery life +Simplified shell DETRIMENTS: -Weaker chassis -Weaker drive -Weaker extenders Thoughts? 164
Ironforge TC Showcases / rnifnuf's Ironforge Cavalcade of Contraptions« on: August 24, 2014, 02:26:31 AM »
Hello and good evening to you (sweet things that aren't sweet I haven't said that in forever).
This is the inaugural post of my Ironforge showcase. Some people tell me to start small. I tell some people to go to hell. ![]() Armor is Plastic 10. N-12's are wide. The internal temperature of the room that houses the Luxor's 39 xenon light beams can reach 300°F/149°C. This is Secret Sweeper, a SHW SnS that follows Ironforge Standard rules. Each bar is 120cm long with a 5-weapon array. All four arrays have a 40cm axe on each of their five attachment points, making for 20 total weapons. The shell is actually built off of a baseplate anchor on the bottom of the baseplate. I attached the main disc, which occludes the chassis, to the anchor, attaching the smallest shell plates to the main disc. Other discs were added at the top and bottom of the plates. Then, the drive and weapons were added to the shells on the outside. Fun fact: This bot was initially a flail SnS. I removed the flails to increase knockback, as in how far the target bot is knocked back upon impact. I question whether or not this was a wise decision. ADVANTAGES: +Fast, omni-directional spinning +Raw destructive power +Good defenses DISADVANTAGES: -Low battery power (four small batteries is all that will fit with the disc). Thoughts? 165
Discussion / Re: Rammer building« on: August 24, 2014, 01:51:17 AM »Yes.I feel like I have seen that response before... Anyways, I personally prefer a wall/rack of weapons since they protect against horizontal spinners, whereas a single, concentrated blob of weapons cannot effectively block an attack from an HS. Also, most modern rammers you see have a wall/rack of weapons as opposed to a concentrated blob (see: Battle Tortoise from Around the World 2). 166

I didn't know you even did Stock. Nice build, but is it invertible?

Not bad. The drive is good, but you only need a nifty for this bot. If you make the chassis small enough, you could make an HS/SnS hybrid with the saved weight (see: KOS_FLOW's showcase). Nice stacking though. Check around some other acclaimed showcases for inspiration (090901, Mr. AS, Virus Bomb, KOS_FLOW, etc.) and read the Beetle Bros. tutorial. Both of those are helpful in improving your building skills.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: rnifnuf's DSL Cavalcade of Crap« on: August 11, 2014, 02:07:26 AM »
Bump. But let me explain.
![]() My explanation is this bot. Armor is Steel 5. One bright sunny day that I could have used to aimlessly wander around my yard, I decided that the world did not have enough angled horizontal spinners. Thus, this thing was born. I call it the Gray Ring of Death because it rips things up even in the face of wedge AGOD. For weapons, it has nine large beaters and eighteen LDS teeth. Although it has four wheels for drive, it only uses two for steering to ensure that it doesn't fly off. In case you can't see it, the weapon motor is a 6-mag, all four of the drive motors are Fast NPC's, and there are five ants in the chassis. ADVANTAGES: +Fast +Destructive +Stable +Wedgy (in theory) DISADVANTAGES: -Not actually very wedgy (wedge AGOD) I trust that you guys will help me improve this bot as much as possible. I don't expect some kind of Spanish Inquisition. ![]() NOBODY expects The Spanish Inquisition! Its chief weapon is surprise. Surprise and fear, fear and surprise--its two weapons are surprise and fear and regular NPC's--its three weapons are surprise, fear and regular NPC's and an almost fanatical devotion to Trov. Its four weapons... Amongst its weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, regular NPC's, and an almost fanatical devotion to Trov, and Steel 5 armor--Oh, dang it! Lost in the first round. 171

How do you get such a narrow chassis (the one on the hammer) to work? Wouldn't that make the control board not fit? 172

I'm not experiencing any problems. I don't remember the last time I experienced a database error, but I think it happened within the last three or four months and I haven't had a single one since.

It is possible to find a level 100 Magikarp in the wild. In Platinum, using a Super Rod at the Resort Area can potentially yield a Magikarp of any level. I caught one myself.

I was joking about Stock UHW, hence why I struck it out and followed with "Just kidding." But I think that Stock/DSL-S SHW in RA2T2 arena, hazards on, no cheatbot2, would be fine. If SHW can't work, then HW would be great.

If it makes 123Sb work properly, I'm all for it. I AI'd it with Meltybrain driving in mind, but I didn't know how well it would work with two wheels. I didn't know if it would work, as I was rushed to finish AI-ing before a vacation without time for proper testing. 177
Tournament Archives / Re: Forum's Choice Annihilator« on: August 07, 2014, 12:12:40 PM »Just kidding, I would be more likely to enter if it was Stock/DSL-S SHW. We don't have very many of those around here. I think a good arena is the DSL Tournament arena or RA2T#2 arena, as they both have reasonable walls and equally reasonable hazards. No cheatbot2, though. 178

Good luck to all I face. TSI has his work cut out for him. |
