The test garage is pretty bollocks and as much as you can fiddle with the textures, as demonstrated by others it can never really be good enough. So we will be looking into making a new bot lab test arena for everyone to faff around in, going to try and add a couple more things to attack too.

Re- release date.... I'm suprised people are asking about it when we're having an unexpected dry spell.  :gawe:

Slightly bad news, because of a particular tw*t, you might not get all the classic All Stars you were hoping for. But the team and myself are trying to get in touch with as many others as we can. King B's recent return might mean it will be one of the replacement robots for example.

Ooh look, a tree!

Edit
Forgot to say, I bought a new Power supply but the voltage was too low (despite it being the same as the effking old one) so I'm using one of the spare Laptops my lass has given me and turn it into a new pretendy tower.

At the moment I'm hunting for a new source of 3D Studio Max 8... Not having any luck so I might still need to sort out the old PC to rescue my program's from it.

I've only got the train and coach to travel around at the moment which is an ass. Regardless Barnsley and Maidstone should be a go for me.

Oh I didn't know that, wham only gave me his pack and meshes to work with.

But yeah there's a range of slim and wide burst hinges included in the mod at different powers, all with different sounds recorded from Dystopia, Manta, Flow and Manta Jr. I should really record a video on fraps some time.

Craig, for someone part of the mod team, you're a numpty. All the modern flippers in the RA2 are powered by the wide and and slim shirt hinges with new txt files. Non of Whams reps were.

Hey mate, I like what you've done here a lot! Would you like to join our team to finish and release the Official Robot Wars RA2 Mod? :)

As said before it will be on the Official Robot Wars Website and we might be making a pay per play setup at live events. You will be credited of course with the rest of the team.

To be fair mate, until either my computer is fixed, Jarvis gets everything installed on his computer, Mike isn't working or you've stopped.... Watching Doctor Who?  :rage  There isn't anything really to be talk about other than the things that are the commended to make the mod better, more controllable and accessible for the player.

Cheese.

All of the 'robot designs' exports of the reps are wired up to use the xbox controller, I connect the controller up wirelessly using this. It comes with a installation disc, very bloody handy overall!

I haven't tried it with a PS2/3/4 controller yet though but the game definetly works with the PS2 style USB gaming controllers, been using them since I started playing the game when it released. Only been using the xbox controller with it for the past year now.

cylindrical pyramids (or whatever the hell this figure is called)
A cone, Naryar. A cone.

Hahaha!

Should I make a few cones in the mod for people to use for replica making?

No, Ed Hoppit from Team Storm bought it, but didn't pick it up in time before the lot was scrapped. That's the simplified version anyway.

I wasn't here, I'm hating the new Christmas theme and I need a lager so I'll not ask what happened earlier in the thread.  :ermm:

We all keep everything backed up on Dropbox and external hard drives so we're that well prepared for something like this, we don't even have to ask each other for backups!

I'm just selling out a few things to get some side cash for Christmas pressies and when I pick one... A new 350-400w power supply. Then I'm back on track, hopefully before Christmas! Jarvis is obviously severely buggered but he was thinking more ahead than the rest of us. Smart arse.  :p

To be honest though this break was going to happen anyway, we ran out of photographs for textures! There's a few roboteers who haven't sent their lot in. I assume MikeNCR will be chasing the Electric Boogaloo and Son of Ziggy teams soon.

Don't mock Sketchup. I use it for my 3d printing business and it's earned me a damn lot of cash.

Craig I can't call Sketchup work CAD because autocad is it's own software. I just refer to the designs as 'meshes.' Sounds more professional too. I can understand why people don't want to use the term 'sketchup' because when it's mentioned, people think of it as a really crappy program for beginners. But obviously there's a lot to it that people are not aware of.

I know Tweedy is class but there always something Dave can advice you with. He has made a line of AWS Champions don't forget. (Sorry tweedy!)

Re-feathers. Get some HDPE, Argos drill motors and the same £3 wheels I'm using and you've got a cheap as fook FW That will work like a dream mate. I'm just being awkward because I've got s900's so I need an expensive speedo and I'm being more awkward because I want 4wd so I need belts and pullys ect... Oh and I like Hardox. ;)

CAD - Sketchup ;)  Stole my idea, mind I'd recommend talking to Dave Weston the Antweight guru about the weapon motor mate.

Wait a minute. I thought you were going to build a feather? OI

Skullcandy, Before making the mod I actually would have agreed with you purely out of nostalgia and atmosphere but because the mod I'm working on has almost everything from RWED including the house robots and obviously I can play it whenever I like at this point, I feel my mod is literally as good as RA2 and RWED being combined. And I'm not saying that because it's my work, I'm haying it because The team and myself have given it everything we love from the games and more. :)

Johnzoo69, I can see us having this conversation... :P http://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium/no-calm-your-tits-calmyourtits-no-nani-duh.jpg

I don't drink, smoke or "absorb" anything for that matter.

I smoke and drink... And I'm a nutter but I'm working for the Official Robot Wars company, so it can't be bad.

Absorb? Did someone call you a sponge? I may have missed that. ;)
Why don't you explain why you think the old games are better rather than saying it repeatedly. That might be why others find it hard to understand your opinion without reason.

Also When the new mod is done SkullKid, if you don't like it more than the old games then I'll eat my hat.

I would've have said my replicas are better than the ones from RWED. I know it's a conceited thing to say but they are far more detailed and accurate. Even my earlier Hypnodisc and razer meshes are better.

The thing I think makes the game is atmosphere, aswell as the arenas. So with the Offical MOD I'm doing, all this is revived and you probably won't want to play RWED anymore. Best part is, J Pearce talks a canny bit in the MOD but he's no-where near as annoying as he is in ED or AON.

If someone said that this alone ISNT better than the all the reps in the original RW games then I'll retire :P especially considering its officially the 'new' robot wars game.

A curse seems the best explanation actually! Seems to be common... Unless everyone else are compulsive liars. ;)

Trying to solve the mystery of life in wires to get the damn computer working again last night. It worked afterwards for me to back up what stuff I didn't. I just hope it continues to work!

Bad News Guys

The computer I normally work from has died. It wouldn't turn on so we changed the power supply for the one that the computer previously had built in but then that one has died today too. Luckily everything was backed up yesterday, so nothing is lost. But it will take time to get everything back on track from my end considering the lack of computer.

But don't dispair, Jarvis will continue AI-ing everything we have. And Ds7 and MikeNCR Now have 3ds Max 8 too so I will be able to teach them how to export the replica components to keep everything going and to give you updates over the Christmas period.

I'm leaving Jarvis and Mike in charge of project management and Craig in charge of organisation, Q&A until I'm back on track.

Thanks for everything guys.
Adam
