For Starcore, it's MW, so I'm going to say WAN mower.
Should we make it newbies only next time? you know, for people who Haven't gotten REALLY good yet? Oh my! I had forgotten WAN mower. I would have to check if that was mine or built by one of my kids. But it does look like the registrations are locked and no room for me to join in anymore. Starcore

I would be glad to join in but my history is a bit unusual. You all know my first bots. They are Starcore v1.
My earliest bots from before I joined the forums were Tempest Fugit (LW), Maelstrom (HW) (My first bot), Alien Queen (HW) and Borg Queen(HW).
I have various MW bots from 2003 and 2004 but they are all from slightly after I joined the forums.
I hit the ground running...sounds like you would reject anything I have to submit.

I'll stay, unless Starcore kicks me out. Glad to stay a team. Live and probably die together. Starcore

Well send him a PM. It's easier to get a hold of him that way. I did PM ACAMS and he did respond. We are a go for the Starcore & ACAMS team. The Age and Treachery (or is that Scum and Villainy?) team are in the house. You don't need to worry about us, we have a history of destroying each other in the effort of getting to our opponents. I am very left handed so I generally set up most Starcore AI pack bots to drive with WASD and Weapon is Space.
I then set up inverted controls on Arrow Keys.
When I first get the bots from guests that are entering their bots they are often set to Arrow Keys.

My 12-year-old son got the game from a school book order form back around October 2003. I had enjoyed watching Battlebots on TV and had done computer games for years before that (games like CRobots and wrote my first Tank Combat Game back in 1978) so I thought it was cool my sons were liking robotic games.
I helped him, his older brother and their friends install it our home computer gaming network. As they were trying to figure out how to bot build I hunted the Internet for them for samples and examples of other good bots. Found Robot Arena 2 Forums and Aceuplink in my searching and I lurked for a about a month. In late November 2003 I registered at Aceuplink and was banned before I had even posted 1 post. They thought because of some similarity of my IP to a problem member BeOt that I was an alt of BeOt. Which was odd since I was connecting from Oregon and that I heard later, BeOt was from UK. I almost decided to not work to correct things if they wanted to be so quick to accuse. Finally proved my identity. I dived into making my own pack in December 2003 over my vacation time only to have RFS complain that my first showcase bot was "Overloaded". (Borg Queen) A few others followed suit saying my bots were overloaded and unrealistic. Luckily I am more thick skinned than that.
The forums were rife with veterans blurring their bots in showcases to hide technqiues from new members. I have a thing about teaching, training, growing. January 17, 2004 after being active with the forums a bit over a month I released Starcore V1 AI Pack. The rest as they say is history...

Might have to backout on this one, moving to college I seemed to lose my RA2 cd. If you have any installed copy of RA2 to work from you can put on a USB stick or Burn to CD etc and put on other PCs as needed or even run from USB. As to needing the CD to run RA2 as I recall the 1.3 patch on the RA2 Webpage made it so you didn't need the CD any more to run. http://www.robotarena.com/files/RA2_Patch_V13.exeThough my memory may be failing on some of this... Don't forget that one or more of the people that have signed up might back out or fail to enter a suitable robot when it comes time. Would be good to have ACAMS and/or Roboshark be ready to fill in if they notice and want to join in before the bot submission deadline.
I would suggest at times it makes sense to send a PM to veterans like ACAMS (or even myself) to grab their attention about a tournament people would like to have enter. It is easy to miss a thread for a time then feel you are too late to join in. A friendly PM can make all the difference.

I am in.
And traditionally a pair of Pop ups are one of the best combos since they have a hard time hurting each other. Or you can do like ACAMS and I did and have one partner regularly eat the other trying in trying to get to the foes.

I would be honored if you did some of the Spin Doctor team from the Starcore Pack.
Tempus Fugit, Fury, Maelstrom and the like.
Or such bots as Alien Queen, Warmachine or T-800 Terminator.

Eee,Starcore!? Oh S***. Is there going to be a tourney where i get a GOOD draw!? Your bot might just win and then you will feel on top of the world! I know Fury is known. A side effect of my putting my teams in the Starcore packs. But I want the fun of putting my favorite bots in AI tourneys too. Starcore

SC: Most of us built our bots specifically to beat this. Not me, however. Darn. D:
I figured many had faced an earlier version of Starcore V4 Fury Human Driver vs AI. Fury may be out of date by now which could be a compliment of my helping many to get better and refine their bot building skills. My main goal was to see how long Fury lasts AI vs AI. Starcore

I too tried my orginal Tempus Fugit against the RFS AI packs, had fun but wanted more.
I can hope I have been able to help keep people having fun with the Starcore packs and getting DSL happening.
Makes me smile every day that I see you all are still having fun and tweaking that much harder years later.
RFS and all the packs have their place and special flavor to be enjoyed.

Man, that new T-800 looks like a tough customer. With the wheels protected now, it doesn't have many weak spots. Did you also use another extender to stack the bottom 2 maces on each tribar inside each other? Or does it have less maces?
Oh, yeah, sorry everyone. I bet when you saw that I posted here, you thought there would be a BBEANS update. But there's not. Too bad. Yes I still use another extender (3 extenders per Tribar arm) to stack the bottom 2 maces on each tribar inside each other. I found that better than using the lower connect of each upper extender to add a mace head that is pointed down. Still has 27 Maces. :)

Is visual side effect of angling the drive motor off the Snapper at a slight angle to balance for rightsideup and upsidedown invertible driving. Drives straight and turns smoothly. But the motors do pulse up/down a touch since attached at angle to the Snapper. Is a case of AGOD that does not AGOD.

Well it was a good run and T-800 Terminator got further then I thought it would after it lost its first match. Was exciting to see if it could climb out of the Loser's Bracket. Absolute Chaos did great! As I am sure many here do, I did keep working on making T-800 Terminator better after the match started and will be inserting the improved version into the Starcore V4 Pack. Centered and pulled the wheels in for better protection. Traded the front Razor Tips for increased rear Caster Armor protection that also tips the Ramplates down in front for better response to Pop-ups. And finally came up with a better (in my opinion) arrangement for the Ram Plates to better catch and break opponent weapons. The T-800 Terminator is crushed. Timed to make a new better more deadly terminator... Starcore

DSL would not exist if it was not for DarkRat's custom component replicas. I wanted to bring his bots to life. Legitimize them and their parts. Wanted to promote a way to extend and expand RA2. DSL grew out of Custom Component Replicas.
Custom components are not bad, its how they are used in competition that becomes a balancing issue.

Was a time when they used to try to do tournaments online. Was quite the challenge to sync up and battles usually went to who ever hosted the event.
Is why I was such a fan of AI battling. Practice and build and battle in single player and when you have friends over for some LAN matches. Then AI your bot for some hot AI battles and record for all to see.
