If I had thought about it,  this is how I would've done Survival of the Fittest, because ultimately I wanted it to be like one long continuous match instead of restarting everybody fresh when a new bot came it.  But, I'll be honest, I would've gotten annoyed with it pretty quick.

Great idea and cool workaround.

As soon as I saw the TIE fighter, I kicked myself so hard for not entering the X-wing I originally was plotting.  Oh well, the Segways got a vote, I'm happy

Discussion / Re: Naming your bots.
« on: June 29, 2011, 07:06:27 PM »
It depends, if i'm going for a theme, I choose a name based on that.  If not, I usually try to make some goofy pun based on what the robot is..(I Saw Whut U did Thur, a good example). Sometimes, I build a bot solely because of the name.   But truly, my most oft used name is "Enter Bot Name"

Amazingly, I've never built a 'false' popup. This should be interesting

Just for clarifications sake, because I always forget which is which.  A popup is what compared to a true popup?

You should write mission names for KND :P
or do you?

Nope. Just a desire to keep the theme of the tournament going into the awards section, all the awards are 'something else' as well. Plus, I noticed Chair of Pure Evil is COPE

Anyway, think i'll cast my votes

NUDE: Washing Machine (Runner up:Moonlight Slaughter)
HAMSALAD: Corn Mauler (Runner up: Attention Shoppers! for the lazy wheel)
TARP: Chair of Pure Evil (Runner up: Washing Machine)
TARPS: Lapshade of Doom (Runner up: Pummel Bass)
FART: Corn Mauler (Runner up: Snowblown (to unstable)
RAT: Wheel Bug (Runner up: The Cake)

TMII: Conraa vs Dragonfire (just liked the fact it was 2 musical instruments) (Runner Up:Dragonfire vs NFX)
UMMLAUT: Anything involving Chair of Pure Evil. (runner up:Moonlight slaughter's victory in the Invitational)

YODA: Not voting.

Our Replicas Are Different has come to it's inevitible conclusion.  Unfortunately, I can only award three 'prizes'. And they are...

Now for the votes. No voting for self, unless it's for TMII. Your main vote gets 3 points, runner up gets 1

Nice Uber-Decorations, Eugene (NUDE): Awarded to the bot that most closely matches it's real life counterpart.
Hypno Arms Make Sweet, Awesome, Lovely, Assorted Decorations (HAMSALAD): most creative use of parts.
Thanks Alot, Randomizer Program (TARP): The bot you were most hoping to face/Least fearsome opponent
Thanks Alot, Randomizer Program </sarcasm> (TARPS): The bot you were least hoping to face/most fearsome opponent
False Alarm, Really Tricky! (FART): The bot you initially were the most scared of, but turned out to not be so fearsome
Really? A Teddybear? (RAT): Replica you would've never thought to make.
That Match (IS) Intense (TMI): Favorite match
U Make Me Laugh, Always Ultimate Twitterpation(UMMLAUT): Funniest moment.
And of course,
You Only Do Awesome (YODA): The obligatory sequel hook, ORAD 2, yes or no?

I'll enter this...I choose Sawbot, and my arena choice is the Octagon EDIT: With hazards ON

The final finals video is now uploaded.  Congratulations to our ORAD champion...

That means, Our Replicas Are Different is now complete.  Great work to all involved.  We took a bunch of bots that probably would've been considered SFTWs in any other tournament, and made a tourney out of them.  And, in my humble opinion, had a lot of fun doing it.

The extra special additional video is also up now.  Details in the spoiler tab in first message.  I'm off to make the awards thread.

"The willow knows what the storm does not...The power to endure harm outlives the power to inflict it"

Is it true? Can the insanely tough The Cake is a Fake outlive the high damage of Pummel Bass? We're finding out.

Grand Final posted.

To be honest, there was actually a lot less 'weapon spamming' in this than i thought there would be.  And most of the weapons CAN be justified with a bit of creativity, Pummel Bass's 'soundwaves', Lapshades could be seen as tassles etc.  All in all, they stayed within both the rules AND the spirit of this.  This was about making a bot that looked either like it was something else, or was a bot made from something else.   Think of an IRL bot that uses, say, a television as it's chassis.  They're going to add weapons to it and such like that. Hence, why "Oh hai, robots" in the promo vid had that spinner on top.

The only bot in this that I feel kinda broke the spirit was the cardboard box.  I just feel he took a rammer, popped a skin on it and called it a day.

Anywho's, expect the Grand Finals to be up within a day or two.  And, depending on how long it takes, I might have a special little extra thing for you guys, for a few extra laughs.

Loser's Bracket Final is now up.....Long, but worth it, IMO.
