*BUMP* Once again, I modded this game! This time, I made sure that the competitor robots will at all cost NEVER freely enter a corner patrol zone. Thanks to some tweaking in the global.dat, and local rwarenat.txt file, that tells the game what spots of the arena are "off-limits" for competitor robots.

As of April 27, 2018 I still have to make up a story around my to-be version. I will use the pullbacks, but I've no idea how to efficiently make them move with using my hands. I could use a thin, extremely thin line (like a fishing line) to pull them forward when need be. As for the plot itself, it will probably be Razer driving around in some abandoned warehouse, and every now and then piercing various scrap metal-pieces. I will be driving Sir Killalot, like in the original video, I will wear a black leather jacket and those black, fingerless gloves. The song won't be the original song (Android Love). I have picked a song for this very... "project" if that's a good thing to call it. EDIT: It will probably not even be Razer, but any competitor robot.

Fair play to you, they look in excellent condition!
Thanks! Yes, I was surprised with their condition when they arrived.

You have too much money.
I wouldn't say that's the case. Rather I have saved for those moments in time to buy those things which I wanted. After all, rich or poor, it really doesn't matter. You can be a good person either way. Now, I don't know what to believe when you said that, that is, if you were serious or not.

how much do they go for these days?
Well, I gave £30 for this new Chaos 2, £25 for the new Hypno-Disc, and £49.50 for Razer. Then there's of course postage/shipping costs on that, so yeah, quite much. I had partily saved for this moment as well.

Alright. I was thinking about making my own version of the music video which was released with the single back in 2000.
I was thinking of adjusting the plot a bit... adding my own plot to it. Still keeping it kind of similar to the original plot, but with some own ideas added, and some original events removed.
I decided early on to use my pullback version of Sir Killalot. If there would be a way to, through visual effects enlarge the pullback toy to look bigger, that wouldn't be too bad. Although I think that will be over-the-top work. I will probably not have shots of me and the pullback at the same time, except only if most necessarily.
I'm open for ideas! So if you have any good idea for a plot, please, do not hesitate to reply here!

Dear community,
I have come to the conclusion to shelf my Matilda WIP. I will start building my very own house robot in Blender. So far, he has (Yes, I've decided it is a "he") no name so far. I came up with a kind of strange name, that I thought was unique. In other words, I thought this name did not exist. I only happened to look up the name just for fun online. Much so, the name exists.
So, I've yet to name him. If he ever will get built in real-life (fingers crossed... but I doubt it...) he will have a low-profile, and be very wide (to deal with flippers). Goliath was weighing 1000 kg, Major Damage 960 kg. I can tell you now that mine will weigh at least more than 1000 kg, and most possibly at least 2000 kg.
I have made the decision that it will be a tracked chassis. He will most certainly have a giant claw capable of snipping off, or crushing and bending most metals, including capable of damaging hardox. The other weapon is not decided yet.
Oh, I have also noticed that GameTechMods has been invaded by flying ponies it seems...

So, BBC axed Robot Wars, again...
My plan now is to put the work in progress of the house robots of Robot Wars on the shelf... and start modeling one, if not the absolute deadliest house robot I know of.
I will start building on one of two house robots from Robots Live! and Extreme Robots, Major Damage or Goliath. At the moment, I consider recreating the one that is most difficult to flip of the two. As far as I know, Major Damage weighs 960 kg, and Goliath weighs 1000 kg.
Of course, size and weight is not all that matters. But the shape as well. Goliath is rather tall, and narrow. Which is why I guess is was possible to flip him. Apollo proved this. (I guess it's the same thing with Titanic vs. the iceberg and David vs. Goliath... it basically, if believed, meant that Goliath was doomed)
Major Damage, on the other hand, despite being 40 kg lighter, I think it would prove more difficult to flip him, because of his wide shape and low centre of gravity. I could be wrong, but between the two, I'd say Major Damage is more resistant to being flipped.
I have sent an e-mail to Extreme Robots and Robots Live!, asking if they are able to provide me with blueprints for Major Damage and Goliath. I wouldn't be surprised if they won't though. Still, I made a good looking model of Matilda, so why not give Major Damage, or Goliath a go?
I'll create a poll of what you people here think which I should consider to model. Major Damage, or Goliath!

My favorite series doesn't belong to any of the new one's. The reboot was, in my opinion good, but the original was one of the best programs of my childhood. I remember, it must have been in 2000 or 2002, it ran on TV4 here in Sweden. I miss those days sometimes.
But hey, just like this recent cancellation you cannot turn back time. So, I'll at least hope that we may get some form of miniature versions of the latest versions of the house robots.
As for now, I'll enjoy the original 1997-2004 run, the reboot behind.
Rust In Pieces (1998-2018), Robot Wars. Twenty awesome years of carnage and mayhem for sure.

The wheel arches have been rounded out to give her a more organic look. Also the horns have been made not razor sharp.

There is also a value in global.dat inside the lumpy.dat with text that says "DisablePlayerDamage". The value is, as you would probably guess, of course set to 0. Change it to 1, and enjoy a "virtually" indestructible robot!
NOTE: This sometimes fails to apply though... sometimes is seems as if the player robot can STILL take damage. No idea why this occurs though... have been troubleshooting this since early 2014... no luck so far...
EDIT: I also have modded Dead Metal's collision mesh, so that he is now unflippable, just like the rest of the house robots in the games, both Arenas of Destruction and Extreme Destruction :)
How did you modify the collision mesh? Is that what all the .col files are?
Correct! I swapped Dead Metal's one for Sir Killalot's for example, and ALSO tweaked the "COMSHIFT" value inside "deadmetal_chassis.chs" file. That way, he's now unflippable NOTE: One downside to this... he can still land on his front. But then just open and close his claws and he'll fall down onto his wheels again! :)

Before (2 subdivisions): After (1 subdivisions, plus the Decimate modifier on some of the parts):

It is a joke to call it a robotic combat game - put it that way.
Very well then... seems like the money I spent on purchasing the box of Robot Arena 2 was well spent then. Although I did indeed buy Robot Arena 3, I may be able to get a full refund for it. EDIT: Oh, does this look better? I turned down the subdivision modifier to 1 subdivisions, and also added a "Decimate" modifier to the spikes and horns, making them less dense :)

You're right about that. As for Robot Arena 2 - Design & Destroy, I got the psysical box right here.
Robot Arena 3/III though, I haven't played it that much... is it anything at all (from what I've heard, it's pure garbage, abomination) compared to Robot Arena 2?

To be fair with you, it does. I'm fairly sure those small decals can still be made with less faces but look identical.
I forgot to mention, I do not plan to add them to any game so far, we'll see about that...
Regardless, it would still be better if you were to do it. Just in case you wanted to in the future.
Yeah, I know. Games doesn't like too many faces. I was also curious, but I don't think there will be any more Robot Wars games in the future... but I was just wondering about others opinions on the matter.
