Current mental picture is a vertical spinner with some uniquely designed wedge elements to try to solve some problems inherent with the design in general, and cover up some weaknesses of current designs. I need to make design goals for the project based on a lot of factors however, and that may influence the design some. But that is the current idea.

I have the approvals in place from my school. I'm building a robot for my college senior project, and I have the money saved up to do it. I am unbelievably hyped. Building a 30lber for Motorama 2016 is the goal, going to mail off my registration tomorrow since the signups are opened I have noticed. 7 people already signed up on a 16 bot bracket  :thumbdown

Putting the weapons on top would kill them though, they wouldn't be able to hit much at all. What you need to worry about is, because of the angled shape and weapons, robots will very easily get around to your side. So maybe some chassis/wheel protection on the side they're more likely to be on, or maybe even a wedge down that side to keep them away.

Can any one help me with replaceing iron awe 5 with iron 2.5 on to the iron awe team with out the game crashing?

There should be some guides around here for doing AIing of robots, including changing the AI line to match, getting the controls set right, and putting the robot file in the teams folder in the right place.

Oh hey, this is getting released on chilean independence day. :o

You can bet I'll be the only idiot sitting sober at home.

Hey I remember this guy!  :gawe:

Great work all. I look forward to playing this beautiful game.

These are more thought out than I expected

I'm still loving the purple. My Steam avatar is normal pikabob though haha.

The easiest way to fix or build something is to understand it.

https://www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/circuits-topic

It will absolutely be worth learning, and will save you money and time. This is more of a general overview on circuits and not related to batteries much at all. But knowing how voltage, current, and resistances work will be crucial for you to pick the right batteries for your robot, and help you make logical decisions when wiring.

I really appreciate this!  I learn all more of these within a hour than a full year in high school.

An idea of what motors your planing on using would be nice.

We are still deciding on the drive motors.  We know geared motors are best for it, so we're scanning through robotmarketplace.com.  We need 2 geared motors and 1 non-geared for drum spinner.  We have a tight budget for this and it is something we want to do for fun, and possibly competitive if there are enough events.

Any recommendation?

Absolutely happy to help! Welcome to the wonderful world of engineering. To back up what R1885 said, never forget safety, it is truly crucial. Don't spin up a weapon anywhere near you for the first few times or hits.

Probably as unstable as RA2 usually is haha. Will all of the robots be in the import folder for when you download the mod? I see that as a big draw as well, to fight with all of your favorite robots. Giving them all a common start to the file would be helpful also to bunch them together.

As long as AS doesn't care, then go ahead.

The bot itself doesn't look bad, but the skirts being angled upwards looks kinda weird makes me curious. Is there a reason for it? What's wrong with straight ones? That can make it so it's not useless when inverted.

Bigger flames make it look sooper dooper cool

Really?  I know some people burned out their motors by using too much voltage, so I was being cautious.  What would be a safe estimate before you overvolt?

A lot of this depends on the equipment itself. I've heard as high as doubling the voltage, but I wouldn't recommend it on just any motor. More commonly I read about people giving about one and a half times the recommended voltage, which may still be pushing it as far as I know.

oh hey i won

(ive secretly been watching this since the beginning but decided not to say anything till now just to get on gk's nerves XD)

though tbh i still feel bad about winning via easymode and i probably won't enter clown breath into anything else. honestly i barely tested it and had no clue it would do this well. i have a feeling that had this been in the bbeans arena i'd have gone 0-2

SnS/HS are too OP, they, hate us cause they ain't us

I'm drunk so I'll be putting in votes later, but I wanted to thank G.K. for this tournament and mention again how impressed and lucky I was with Crush?. I think the idea was solid but I didn't expect it to be this good straight off the original, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much for hosting this, I had a blast following it.
