Off-Topic Discussion / Demoscene music / chiptune« on: January 17, 2010, 02:55:10 PM »
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiptune Anyone heard of this? Here's a sample song: http://venema.q3k.org/mp3/Dubmood%20-%20Toffelskater%20(dubmood%202007%20remix).mp3 Something a bit more classic: Something a bit more modern: Here's a webradio that streams this kind of music 24/7: http://www.scenemusic.eu/demovibes/ with a direct stream: http://nectarine.q3k.org:1234/necta192.m3u or http://nectarine.q3k.org:1234/necta192 Basically it's a style of music that replicates the sound capabilities and hardware limitations of early computers and gaming consoles. You'd be surprised what can be accomplished with 4 sound channels (voices / instruments), each only able to produce a sine, triangle, square or pulse wave. If you haven't heard of this before, check it out and tell me what do you think about it. But anyone that hasn't known the C64 / Amiga era will probably hate it. 1588

Chatterbox / Re: Limited?« on: January 17, 2010, 12:52:56 PM »No Naryar, in modern English there is no space before an exclamation mark. That is only in the French language.Yeah, but it's more about the typography. French rule of thumb: All two-part punctuation marks get spaces from both sides. English rule of thumb: **** it, put a space after the sign. 1592

Chatterbox / Re: Limited?« on: January 16, 2010, 03:54:05 PM »Yeah, but unfortunately, I don't remember enough to be conversant. I still remember the structure, though, so relearning the language would just be a matter of rebuilding my vocabulary. I was hoping to attend some Japanese lessons, I really want to, but it's insanely expensive. I know a bit about the language's grammar and some words, but it's not much. I envy your knowledge of it, I'd trade my French for some Japanese any day. 1596

But I like flamewars! (Even though this isn't one, it's just a permatroll successfully trolling a moron. But I enjoy that, too.)
Also, I want to remind you Sparkey, you have no excuse for making grammar mistakes. You are American, and English is your native tongue. Try to respect it, like I do as a foreigner. Frezal, you really learned Japanase at HS? You lucky ****. |
