Ooh looking fab! Always wanted to use that Firestorm as intended. Yes please do add it to the bot exchange! GoldenFox93 I never uploaded the red "eyes" on the front of Panic Attack from RW:ED, here you go... Hopefully an incentive to skin it. I might have a go myself if you dont have chance. (Image removed from quote.)
Come to think of it, actually- I can't skin to save my life, so if I provide the document with everything necessary along with the BOT File, would you be willing to try it?

Many thanks for the positive comments, everyone- the improved Firestorm IV is NOW UP on the Robot Exchange! It's under the DSL Middleweight Category.

Did you AI it?
No, but I have provided it to play as. If anyone's alright at changing robots around in teams, you could swap the clunky old one for my one, I guess   :approve:

Definitely this-

Just in case you're wondering, it's the Tim Burton-era Batmobile.

I used to sleepwalk quite a lot when I was younger (and according to some, it still happens now and then, but I never remember anything), so this'd happen a few times to me. I once remember waking up lying face-down in the middle of my upstairs landing.
It won't happen in August though, right? XD
Nope- it happens far less frequently, so I think I'm mostly over it, now.

The sydney sleeper is an awful weapon. And facestabs happen due to a ping difference, I think. :P
It's actually a bit underestimated I feel, but decent enough in the right hands. It's more of a long-distance support weapon to assist teammates at closer range, but that hasn't stopped me killing stuff in one shot with it.
That, and needle-sharp darts filled with piss are hardly the most pleasant things to be shot with XD

And yes, precisely why I think backstabbing shouldn't kill in one shot. How should a tiny little knife do more damage than an Axe or a Kukri?

Damn, sounds pretty awful. Still preferable to cheap instant death from behind, though.

Nah. If you pay any attention at all you can avoid that. Machina Bodyshots are so much cheaper, and the only way you can avoid that is by going spy and cloaking past, uber, or by someone else (or you) headshotting them before they bodyshot you.
That's the thing, you see- I can deal with them just fine when I'm the Pyro, but whenever I go as anyone else, they always miraculously gain the ability to instantly kill me from the front, even if I've never turned my back on them.

In comparison, yes Sniper shots are also cheap, but I'm more OK with those considering that they're easier to avoid when you can see the Sniper, and that it does take some skill to line up a proper shot.
To deal with them, I tend to move around erratically as I come towards them so that they can't hit me, and then once I've found their location, I move in for the kill. It's particularly satisfying when I can trap them in their own rooms and burn them to death.

Talking of which, I had a rather good run as Sniper the other night- got three Achievements (Shoot the Breeze, Robbin' Hood and Uberrectomy) , and a rather good number of headshots with my Huntsman.

I later played again in new getup- Sydney Sleeper, Jarate, Bushwhacka, and the Master's Yellow Belt- a moveset based entirely on piss, in other words. Those Spies never knew what hit 'em    :trollface

Lol.

Just had a terrible game on orange, which reminded me how much I hate engineers. Sure, I can eventually deal with 4 sentries on top of the tower via flying demoman, thats fine. But when your team allows an ubered heavy to kill 90% of them, which in turn allows the four engies to set up level 3 sentries positioned that you can't even turn the corner.....

Couldn't even destroy them from above like I normally do as soldier, because one was positioned on the wall I rocket jump onto. Oh, and there were snipers bodyshotting everyone who did manage to push out. Eugh. Rant over.
Damn, sounds pretty awful. Still preferable to cheap instant death from behind, though.

you obviously didnt installed it right, make sure you copypaste the folder with the arena .gmf in it along with the py
I did- I have copied all of the necessary things, including what you said. Checked them again, reinstalled them, still doesn't work.

Do you have the correct version of HazardsBlueRay.py?
Let me check...29th January, 2009. Which one's the correct version?

General Support / Containment Cube problem
« on: July 05, 2012, 12:26:04 PM »
Recently, I downloaded the Containment Cube Arena from Click's website for my DSL2.1. I think I've installed it correctly, but for some reason, it's not working- to elaborate, the screen goes black (with the cursor still there), and after a few seconds, I can hear crowd noises, and when I press the control keys for the robot I'm playing as, I can hear them. Nothing happens after that, and all I can do is CTRL ALT + DEL to get out of the game.

I don't know what's gone wrong, so some help here would be greatly appreciated.

Nary watched him for a stupid reason...

"Attempting to persuade me that the rep system makes no sense by downrating me for a silly reason.   +50"

Well, he gave me a repdown for a stupid reason.
Welcome to the club, Nary.

I have still been working on the RCT2 Contest #2 map, but I am at the harder part now, I still need to put up the pier and the town part in the unusable spot(I am going a bit for a Bumbly Beach looking park.
Coolio- I'm glad to see that progress is still being made on it. Looking forward to seeing what it's like once it's finished   :approve:

Other than that I have been working on Leafy Lake(The RCT1 park) in RCT3 and have been doing quite well, already have a wooden coaster and a corkscrew coaster in it, now I need to fix up the landscape so I can fit a B&M Coaster and a Windseeker and an Intamin Drop Tower in the park
Ah, that sounds good too- talking of Leafy Lake, I've been working on my own one in RCT2.

Many thanks for the positive comments, everyone- the improved Firestorm IV is NOW UP on the Robot Exchange! It's under the DSL Middleweight Category.

Very, very nice indeed. That version should be a LOT more like what we saw in Robot Wars than the one currently in DSL. I'm also assuming it's no longer as havok-prone as it once was, thanks to the slower motor?
Glad you like it- and no, it doesn't havok anymore, you'll be pleased to know  ^^

Thanks mate- I've compiled all of the PA ED textures into a document now, so hopefully we can begin from there.

bot exchange ?
I think I'll do that, actually  ^^

Send it to Click.
Yes, I'll mention it to him- I'm planning to do similar things with some of the other reps as well. I've already done it with Panic Attack (Still not skinned it yet, unfortunately), so Firestorm seemed like a good next choice.

Alright, I've lifted the bonnet on another DSL replica that I thought could've used some improvement. The big slow yellow wedge that couldn't get under anything and havoked whenever it flipped anything...you know what I'm talking about, the DSL 2.1 FireStorm, originally barely even a challenge for a Beetleweight.
After looking at it, I've improved it a bit-

Although not much has changed on the outside, still using the basic outside parts and chassis, I've completely overhauled it internally, so it has a better wedge, better armour, a flipper that works, and can now actually fight effectively against other reps. Most obvious change here, is that it's actually a MW now- previously, it was actually a reclassified LW.

Here, I've taken off the lid so that all the new internal macguffins I've put in can be seen. I removed all of the Cheaty Bits (The Darkcell Batteries, the flat Control Board and the attrocious, attrocious attrocious Redbird Motors) that barely even worked, and swapped them out for a more powerful combination of Ant Batteries, NPC Fasts, and bigger Rubber Wheels, and gave the chassis itself better armour- 10mm Titanium.
On top of that, I also switched the burst motor on the flipper- it now uses a Lifter Motor, to replicate the low-pressure firing speed of the original. It's very powerful too, able to self-right and flip things well without havokking- more on that in a moment.

As mentioned earlier, the wheels are indeed bigger, but there's a significance here with them- not only do they look more like the real ones due to them sticking out of the back (The biggest ones I could get without them protruding out of the sides), they raise the back more, driving the wedge into the ground and allowing it to get under stuff much more easily.
Most importantly however, they give the replica the same excellent speed and manouverability the real Firestorm IV was known for. And on top of that-

It can even do that cool "Rearing Up to Flip Robots OOTA" stunt that the real Firestorm could do, as demonstrated here with Wrecktangle. (And yes, it can drive off again afterwards)

So, what more is there to say? Firestorm, improved for DSL    :approve:
