Keep a link to your forum in your sig, invite friends (online or IRL), and make your forum standout. Find a particular community you want to go after, and cater towards them.

I hat Admining free forums, I would sugest moving to proboards, but nice.
I took over administration duties for a forum on ProBoards a while back. I wasn't too impressed. The remnants of that site are still around somewhere (see if you can find 'em). As for Mr. TeamXtreemer, stick with the software you've got. PHP BB is good stuff, and isn't too hard to work with.

Here is some copypasta of a post of mine from that handsome forum I administrate. Apple just announced the iPhone OS 4.0. Notable features to be included: An Xbox Live-esque gaming platform Opening up things like maps to third party apps iAd--a new unified system of HTML5-based ads These will all be available on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd Gen around June. 3G iPhones and 2nd Gen Touches will only be compatible with some of the features (multitasking is a no-go). iPad will receive an update in fall. Unfortunately, no mention has been made about 1st gen iPhones and Touches. Damn it! That means I might have to buy a new phone this year. (I guess my contract is up anyway.) EDIT: Still no Java or Flash. In fact, when asked if they're planning on incorporating those elements, Jobs gave a flat out, "No."

Umm... Yeah... I had another arguement yesterday. I was surfing on GTM with my phone. And I was watching a movie too... Then my mum came, took my phone and said that, ''When you watch TV and you surf on the net with your phone, I will take this phone and you will get it on the morning.'' I was pissed... Then my mum went to shower and I started to find my phone. I found it under some clothes. I quickly read the Forums and put the phone on the clothes. (I forgot to put it under the clothes) When she came back from the Shower, She checked my phone (which was ON the clothes) and came to my room and said, ''Why the phone is on the clothes?'' I said, ''because I checked it, was it loading'' Then my mum said. ''Ok, You will get this after the school'' I was soo pissed...
You were very much in the wrong. Your mum set some limits and you deliberately went out of your way to break them. That shows a clear disrespect for her. An apology would be appropriate.

I could change the font if I could have cooler fonts than papyrus...
Arial is a cooler font than Papyrus. Even Wingdings is more acceptable. I'll help you out though. Step 1: Go here http://www.dafont.com/Step 2: ... Step 3: Profit Step 4: Download some good fonts. Step 5: Install the fonts and use them! Don't use them for any commercial projects unless the license allows for it.

No, it was: How to train your Dragon.
So awesome movie... The black dragon was soooo cute... (^_^) I wish that I could be that dragon... ^.^
I haven't seen it, but here's why that movie sucks: 1. Vikings never had horns on their helmets. That's a myth perpetuated by the opera. 2. Norse dragons were much more serpent-like. The dragons in this movie look like the Celtic dragons. 3. Snowboarding has no place. I don't know if that was just in the promo or actually in the movie, but it needs to go.
