aaand something for throwback throwdown

yeah i'm aware i can do better VS/rammers but it still looks cool and is powerful/stable enough for my tastes soo. le 3mm titanium face (most common armor ever, i know).

Named Cauchemar. Try to find the pun (it's not hard). and it also comes from this : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mare_(folklore)

now it needs a bad-ass skin.

only a four month bump ? hmm i could do better

that's for trackerzod's tourney.

has dsa.

issues : loses air so fast the pneumatic system may as well have a hole in it, also it has poor reach. i think i can solve the reach issue partly by turning the angle connectors 45 degrees and move the piston forward a bit, and could probably stick the piston even more into the casters by using piston loading buuuutttt it'll probably mess up my bot.

also it's a very freudian bot... Knowing my luck in stock it will lose to a popup :rage

i think imma going to enter something that isn't yet another hs

Tournament Archives / Re: Throwback Throwdown - Signups
« on: November 24, 2015, 07:44:53 AM »
I find this tournament interesting, but I don't like some of the rules. (And yes, I realize it is signups and it is too late to discuss rules)

I fully understand that those are supposed to stop people from building uber tryhard bots such as walls of razors, or ultra fragile flail SnS composed exclusively of carbon fiber extenders. And that's a good thing. I like the ban on casters, invulnerable armor, flails, ban on tiny chassis, and even the ban on "moar razors".

But some rules just limit creativity and force us to waste weight, apparently just for the sake of oldschool. That's not a good thing.

i have issues with those exactly, the other rules appear good and worthy.
Power:
- Ant Batteries are banned.
- You can use the Intercooled battery packs, but only a maximum of 2.

Extenders:
- Baseplate Multi-Extenders are banned.

Mechanics:
- You cannot use the Angled Attachment points on the Perm motors

Wheels:
- Ant Wheels are banned.
- You can have a minimum of two wheels and a maximum of four wheels.

Extras:
- Small & Emergency wedges can only be used for pure flippers or as armor.  Any other use is banned.

why 4 wheels max ? what about rammers ? rammers have always used lots of wheels and motors.

why ban ant wheels ? it's not like NPC fast/ant battery isn't better than npcf/techno or npcf/hypno...

why ban ant batteries ? they're the only good battery in dsl, so we just end wasting weight. Or are we all supposed to build beta flippers/ beta hammers /clamps ?

banning multiextenders wastes a bit of weight as well, and really ME's are no longer a problem with a ban on tiny chassis. Or just ban the large multiextenders so people don't have invulnerable attachments outside the chassis.

why ban battlepacks ? they're not even that good due to low electotal.

_____

anyways large hiatuses aside i'll try to enter. i wish there were more people interested though.

first is a horrible mess of components. please clean that up. oh and the weapons don't work together.

second is much less messier but a sawbot/hammer like that... what are you doing ? the weapons don't work together at all.

not that i disapprove of hybrids but when you just add weapons without thinking how they work together, it's not worth it building hybrids.

you need to protect your chassis more. also maybe use a piglet, it has much more hitpoints and i'm pretty sure it is better than a slimbody for damage.

maybe make the weapons stick out more...

oh and yes it's borderline unrealistic dsl due to having more than 100kg of weapons and motors on a polycarbonate extender.

since when has this been a problem in standard?

i said borderline dsl unrealistic.

Also polycarbonate extenders holding huge things are ugly. I mean it looks like the motors float in space.

thats a big chassis for what you have inside. also i am still unsure about wheelguards on a hammer. tbh i'm pretty sure you could put a smaller burst on there, more weapons, a better chassis. try to make it so it can self right with the burst.

...oh wait it's a rebuild of a former bot, well, remake the chassis.

___

also red please do not try to appear cool/edgy ESPECIALLY when you are new, it doesn't work on this forum (or on any internet community). we've had people (see: Kurt Wylde) trying to appear edgy on those forums, it does not work and people react poorly to those.

if you are cool people will react well to you. apparently you have earned a poor reputation there, i'm not sure of the details but stop now before you dig your own grave here.

that must be the most unstable vs ever.

I don't think a disc is necessary for extender work, really. You can just use larger beaters and stuff on the beaters.
