Just like most competitions the FRA hasn't updated their rules to accommodate 2.4ghz. 2.4ghz works by frequency hoping, to find an open frequency so you don't need/have crystals for it. Those rules do not apply.

I'm sorry but that's more sub par DSL than IRL.
First off you've got the metal hinge wedges that are huge and stick out way too much to be realistic, second off you've got those funky arm things NFX mentioned. They really don't look good and are not really realistic.

Buy one of these. Cut off the old connector and solder or crimp on the new connector. Going from left to right with the plug right side up, you want Black then Red from your battery. Ignore the 3rd spot, that's for a PWM signal, which doesn't apply to the battery.

Don't do a Lightning style flipper. The thing that makes flippers entertaining and effective is that they are able to control the flow of the fight. A Lightning style flipper cannot do this as effectively as s regular style flipper because instead of launching the opposing robot away from it, it throws the opposing robot off to the side where then the opposing robot is in a better position to get under your robot or flank it and cause damage to it.
If you dont fight in an arena with "pushouts", ignore this.
Spinners tend to "hockey puck" and or gyro dance after a big hit or if they get tilted too far and the gyroscopic forces of the spinning mass take over. During these times you have no control of your robot. Because there are "pushouts" you spinner could gyrodance it's way put of the arena for an incredibly stupid loss.
Spinners also need to be able to absorb and disapate whatever KE they dish out, otherwise stuff will break on your bot. Seeing your construction methods, you aren't at the skill level where you can effectively build a flipper.
If there are pushouts in the arena the best design would be a fast and powerful pushy bot or a clamp of some sort, if there are not pushouts, go with a flipper.

Do not go to Explosm (Dot) net I was browsing around on it minding my own business when suddenly a java script activated and downloaded "win 7 antivirus 2012". This is not a real anti virus program. It will completely trash your computer. Try mounting the stablizers horizontal instead of vertical. It tends to give a cleaner look and gives spinners less surface to 'bite' and throw your bot around.

You could almost get a real drivetrain on there if you swap your disk for a small drum component and attach the hammers with their other AP.
