General Support / RA2 and DSL-TC Install tutorial.
« on: October 10, 2006, 04:45:03 AM »
Tick is that mark which indicates that the box is either selected and it affects to something or the box isn't selected when there isn't that tick and the box doesn't affect to anything.

And did you download DSL-TC mod which was meant for downloaded version of the game and not for cd version?

There is already enough much talking about this in other topic, but I don't remember where exactly.

Yeah and remember to use that FIRST tutorial in it, because the LAST ONE is for those who have some sort of errors with the game but really want to play it with all those errors.

I haven't updated it for DSL-TC 2.0 mod, but I think it should tell everything which is necessary to make the mod run correctly.

Edit: Here's the tutorial's link. Right here.

I edited it quite much so now it should be even easier to read. And now it also covers 2.0 version of the mod too.

Do you have downloaded version or cd version?
And if you have cd version, do you have cd in the drive and have you tried to delete that config.msi folder?

Either type in the name section cheatbot2
Or go to components folder and open every text file and if there reads hidden=1 or something like that change it to 0. Now you should see all the AI parts and so on.

Discussion / Cheat parts limit online
« on: October 02, 2006, 10:45:24 AM »
I was playing few days ago with deadkenndys and when I tried to take my Spiderbait, the game told me that it used cheat parts and I couldn't take it. Same happened on my The Ultimate Spike Beetle and on Sunflower Tea.

Are Perm motors now cheat parts online? Because all those bots had same parts, Perm motors. Why Perm motors are now marked as cheat parts when you go online?

Or if those aren't the cheat parts which makes that pop-up to pop up then which ones are? I would like to get complete list of those parts what are now marked as cheat parts when you start playing online.

Because there was enough AI bots and there was no need to make more.

I give you two very simple hints.

First. Use maximum armoring. That's the 10mm Steel armoring. That should do enough well...

If that isn't enough for you, then make some external "extra armoring" on your robot. Like adding armored plates around your robot. That should make your robot to last very long.

Discussion / how to edi the .BOT files
« on: September 29, 2006, 12:45:45 PM »
Quote from: SpyGuy

Weedy forgot to mention that you should also do only one team at a time, otherwise the Bot0, Bot1, and Bot2 files will constantly try to overwrite themselves .... either that, or rename them team0 bot0, team0bot1, etc.  That's how I have all mine listed, so I know which robot is on which team.

Well. I assumed that no one isn't that dumb that tries to overwrite the bot files everytime and everytime try to copy them again under robot designs folder if some of the robots are lost in the game. =P

Or if you want to mess with AI bots just copy bot0, b0t1 and so on from their folders in AI and team folder. Then paste them to your robot designs folder and open them in the game.

It should work. So easy. :D

But the others doesn't have 1.2 version of the original RA2 game. They have 1.0. Try to join to Mean2u's game one day. I have 1.2 and Mean2u has 1.2 version of the game also. If that won't work then your game is messed.

And about that modem. Yeah it should work then because normally if you have more than one ethernet plugin in your modem you have some sort of router integrated into it. You may have either firewall or NAT in your modem but not router at all because you can't connect your modem to other computers and so it can't work as a router.

The Lan plugin is a place for the cable which is coming from your network adapter card, is that written like that? But anyway, you should have same sort of "hole" in your modem as you can see in this picture behind this card:
http://www.circuitcity.com/IMAGE/product/enlarged/dlk/EC.DLK.DFE530TXPLUS.JPG

That is that so called LAN plugin because in that slot goes only LAN cable. Normal network cable is too small to fit in that slot, it doesn't fill the whole hole.

You should have only one that kind of slot in your modem and only so you won't have any integrated routers in your modem.

DSL TC Showcases / Mr. Weedy's 2.0 Bots
« on: September 25, 2006, 12:55:47 PM »
Okay. Because few have asked for it I'll upload some of my few 2.0 bots here.

Fin(n)ish This, Don't Mace Me --- To... and Dragon Mouses can be found...

...Here. Even I gave the team name The Cruel Team, I don't think they are so "cruel." Maybe the Don't Mace Me --- To... is quite cruel but others are somewhat snacks for other bots.

Looks like you have "double IP." The IP which has *.1.1 in the end and is DNS's IP means your modem's IP. Only this will show to public, but this *.1.2 is your Computer's IP and that the RA2 can't find because it doesn't understand those "double IPs." So looks like you have some sort of router in your modem. The NAT would just hide your computer's IP to not show on anyone. ...Or something like that.

But anyway your problem is that "double IP." Buy a totally pieces of crap modem with only one LAN plugin without any hardware firewalls and then try to host with software firewall covering you. Should work then as it works for me.
