For first showcased bots these are decent. Good work :)
Nightshade looks very powerful. I think its achilles heel is that support work - extenders just aren't very durable, so once you lose them, the bot loses all control. I'd experiment with reworking the positioning of the weapon motors in orer to try and eliminate the need for the support, or losing weight somewhere in order to upgrade your stabilizers to something more sturdy. How may batteries does it have?
For Planet Earth, I feel you've invested too much weight into the weapon motors and not enough into other areas of the bot. The DDTs will give your weapons a lot of oomph but there are only 2 razors. While razors are good weapons, they are also weak, and as soon as you lose a razor, you're left with 30kg of DDT doing nothing, which you can't really afford at the LW class. Most LW popups will tend to only have one burst motor, and in turn that will usually be a Snapper2 as it weighs less.
I'd look at using one bust motor, attaching multiple weapons to it, and using the free weight to upgrade the quite slow drive, which is very important for popups in this weight class, especially the ones only with chassis wedges. On that, to give one final note, the bot is quite tall, which has resulted in quite a steep chassis wedge. It's usually better if you can make the wedge shallower, as bots will slide up it more easily.
It's a promising start, overall, as ecolusian says, you manage space well and that's one of the fundamentals of RA2 building.

Can we see a side profile of Touch of Evil?

Really nice.
I can't help but think razors firing upward is better than the razors firing forward though - forward firing would just push opponents away from the gutripping weapons?

I can't help but agree that Steel 10 is overkill. Are the skirts just for keeping the weapons off the ground?

If the general consensus among the people who've entered is that they'd be happy to make or describe a logo, then I'm more than happy for this to go ahead.

I think the arena should be a bit bigger. (maybe 1.5x?)
I agree, this was one of the 'minor changes' I was referring to earlier. At the moment I've been building the arena and testing it in a DSL game, my plan was to do a bunch of tests with the relevant stock bots once I'd finished the GMF and .py off, and see if any dimensions/positionings needed changing. All I need to do at this point is modify the camera angles and add collision lines. I expect I'll end up having it somewhere between the current size and the Twiiisted Arena's size. Is arena skinning like robot skinning, or is there more to it?
It can, such as in this case, literally be modifying one image, which was up until just now this. There are a couple more variables that you can play about with in the GMF but at the most basic level it's just image manipulation. I was thinking more along the lines of each team having a logo, like a football team's emblem, and having that as the center point of the arena, with the rest skinned based on the team's chosen colours. Of course this means colours and logos would have to be organised by the teams that want to take part. If we could provide a basic template skin people would probably be able to do their own home arena skin, or at least do their teams crest and specify their team colours if they can't do the whole arena themselves. I might be able to help out doing some of them, but I don't know how busy I'll be in the coming weeks so I won't promise anything until I know how much free time I'm gonna have. I can certainly try and make a template skin though, if you'd be willing to send either the existing skin or the whole arena over.
I'm hesitant to recolour the whole arena as I like the metal texture I've found, but the logo idea is very nice. I'd keep the tournament logo on the byebots' version of the arena, and that would be the version of the arena I'd subsequently release. At the same time though, a logo by itself isn't much of a difference. Logo and pictures of the bots maybe? And I guess I could play around with the hue/saturation slider on PDN. Once I am sure of what size the arena's going to end up being I could send out a template, for sure.

Would it be worth giving Armoured Core a wedge to try and combat its problems?

The home skin idea is really nice, and it's something I'd like to do. My major concern is that skins are not my strong point, and hence my questions.
1) How would the home skin idea differ between teams? Maybe the skin should have the bots on it? Or something else?
2) would people be prepared to help me with the skinning if it was anything more complex than that?

Definitely open to changing that too - logo designing just isn't my forte.

Anyway, arena looks pretty good, and I like having the starting points to prevent box rushes. Only one suggestion, maybe add a border of a different texture around the edge of the arena? Maybe some scratched up grey or diamond plate metal, or hazard stripes of some sort might work.
Cheers :) The border is a good idea, I'll have a play about with it.

I would love to call it Elland Road but I feel that would be egotistical. I'll get my pun cap on.

Those of you looking in the 'WTF Moments' thread will have seen this already, but I have all but finished the arena gmf for the tournament. Presenting the RA2 League Arena (If anyone can think of a snazzier name that would be grand) There are a few minor adjustments that I need to make but this is essentially what the tournament will be fought in. The bots will start not facing their opponents, to prevent box rushes, and OotA's will be possible, but won't happen all the time. Constructive criticism will be appreciated. In the mean time, keep sending those bots in! Had some great submissions so far.

bumpity bump
So I'm making a new arena for The RA2 League, currently working on the GMF. I started up the current version, threw 4 Biohazards in, but when the match started, I was like 'Where's the 4th Biohazard?'
...I think I need to redo my starting points.

This is a quite interesting discussion for me because I will be trying to disallow particularly broken things when I run the DSL-S RA2 League after the stock one.
So would, say, banning flails be an appropriate course of action? Or is that going too far (Or indeed not far enough)?

Wouldn't mind facing off against Mechadino if there's still space?

I should have bothered to meddle with Bot's wedges, pah. My DSL fight against AS was a lot of fun.
That 1HKO in the semi....
GG to Thrackerzod
Thanks for hosting, t'was a fun tournament idea.
