The poll is done and we have a clear winner. My next tournament is officially to be "In The Air Tonight". Rules are as follows. 1. 32 bots allowed. In the event 32 entrants are not received within a reasonable amount of time, there will either be byes given to pad the entrants, or there will be a wildcard bracket to determine who gets the last spot in a 16 bot tournament. The determination will be made based on how close we get to 32... 2. DSL Heavyweight 3. Your arena will be the Parking Lot 4. No cheatbot2, ai parts, or custom components allowed, except for..... 5... https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/123hovercraft.zip << that. brought to you by 123savethewhales, this is the hovercraft engine that is to be used on all bots. The thrusters that come with it ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED 6. No wheels allowed, your mode of locomotion MUST be the hovercraft. 7. All building must be done in the botlab, therefore no BFE, AAM, or any of that other naughty stuff. 8. HAX mode IS allowed, providing rule number 9 is followed, and none of this 'exostacking' stuff 9. Realistic rule enforced. 10. Custom AI is allowed, provided it's not of the cheaty type, ie. no healing, constant damage, etc. etc. 11. Standard double elimination brackets. 12. Also standard havok rules. 1 havok restart per bot per match. On a second, disqualification. 13. No trinity, nasty pickle, whatever, controlled movement is the key here. 14. Multibots are allowed, both must be dispatched to count as a loss. 15. matches are 3 minutes long. 16. having a component move under your hovercraft to gain lift is allowed, however, if your bot is designed to gain a few point lead and then shoot into the sky to avoid any further damage, I'll count it as an OOTA (My discretion, don't worry, i'm fair) 17. I can AI for you, but as always AIing yourself is the preferred method. 18. All bots must have at least one ant battery for realism purposes, even if you don't use an electric motor. 19. Phil Collins references still encouraged. As usual, comments, concerns, "hey, moron, you forgot this thing" are encouraged.

Luckiest Robot: Dragster (Garvin) Unluckiest Robot: Urjak's Folly (NFX) SFTW: No Empty Space (Hydro) Best Robot: Octopus (Urjak) Coolest Robot: Octopus (Urjak) Screw you, I like it: West Coast Torture Device (Trumpetguy) Most Surprising Moment: Garvin tearin up the LB Best Match: S_M vs Mike Other than causing a 900 year old Jedi to think he'd gone crazy with me and S_M's loser bracket vid, which was quickly fixed, and the forsaking of Meatloaf, which was forgiven due to Mr. Roboto nostalgia, great tourney, no complaints whatsover

Well, if hoverpad break the game crashes, so I was unable to remove Base_F. However I did reduce it's radius by half so it provide far less invulnerability than the previous version.
Also included thrusters so bot moves forward fast. Do consider using this set instead of the standard cheatbot2 hoverpad.

Downloading now. That was my one big concern with it, the overwhelming size and invulnerability ot them. I'll check these out and more than likely will use them. Also, glad someone at least liked Brains vs Brawn. That was the one I was hoping would win the vote, but also knew it was probably the least likely.

I might've found a simpler way to do this, at least in DSL. Can someone confirm for me? attach a hovercraft motor first, then one or sometimes 2 Storm burst pistons. The pistons should fly off by themselves automatically activating hax mode. Seems to work best for me if the Storm bursts are attached externally.

That small wedge getting stuck outside the arena is gonna be the death of me. I'm calling it right here, right now. I fully intended to change that after tests, and being addlebrained forgot all about it. Gawd, I hate Keznorg. :P Great matches so far, and I agree with the Bubbly one, Edge of my seat the whole time during me and GTG's match. Next I get to see if i regret suggesting sawbot. yay! Also, loved hearing Mr. Roboto in Marty vs. Mike. Blast from the past, sooo cheesily 80s, you gotta love it.

With five days left to go, we appear to be locked in a tie. Now's the time to show support for your choice if you're gonna. I haven't cast a vote as of yet, but I will if it comes to needing a tie breaker.

Anyone tried this in DSL? I assume it's the same principle.
It does work in DSL, Confirmed, but don't know how much you can do. Didn't have much time to play around with it, but did manage to stack about 40 ant batteries.

I'm keeping it simple and making all of them be HW

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to invert a hoverbot. I've never managed to do it at least. So, that makes question 2 moot. question 3, i'm assuming you know the cheatbot2 part of it, after that, attach it to the baseplate, give it some airtanks and wire it. it does wire a bit different. (forward, backward, left and right as opposed to spin clockwise/couterclockwise) but other than that, it's pretty much teh same

They all seem just a little too gimmicky for my taste with number 3 being the exception..
can't help it, I love gimmicks. though SOTF2 sounds better. :P that's for the major leagues, be patient :P

So, I've got a bit of a problem. I've got a bunch of ideas for my next tournament, and can't decide which one to go with. That's where you guys come in. I'm going to list my ideas and a brief description, and leave it to your vote. Each of these is intended for DSL (Sorry, stockers) 1. War Was Beginning: Davids vs. Goliaths: Two factions of 8 entrants each face off against each other. The Davids each build a multibot weighing in at a combined weight of 800 kg. The Goliaths each enter 1 standard HW bot. Entrant 1 of the Davids faces off against Entrant 1 of the Goliaths. Next entrant 2 vs. 2 so on and so forth. The survivors are then randomized, and face off in turn against whoevers left on the opposing faction. This goes on until one faction is totally obliterated. The surviving faction is declared the winner. 2. War Was Beginning: Brawn vs Brains: Same set up as Davids vs. Goliaths, except this times the factions are Brains: standard HW bot vs Brawn: an uncontrolled, non-ai'd bot. The Brawn must be ran off of a single switch which will be activated at the start of the match and left running throughout. Brawns are allowed an extra 100 kgs on their bot. Also, special rule, If a Brawn is counted out due to the Brain never hitting it, or the Brain is AI'd in such a way that it intentionally avoids the Brawn, the Brain will be the one eliminated. This is to prevent a situation like Doom Dreidel being incapable of beating Grog, solely because Grog doesn't reach DD before the countdown starts and DD can only mobilize when hit. 3. Bizzaro world: Fairly standard DSL HW tournament, with the exception that the realistic rule is turned off. Stacking, intersecting, Everything you usually expect from Stock building brought over into the world of DSL. 4. Behemoth Battle: Another fairly standard DSL HW tournament, with a chassis restriction. All chassis by themselves must weigh at least 15 kg with Plastic: 1 armor. This is for the people sick of the ultratiny chassis. 5. In the Air Tonight: Hovercraft engines not only allowed, but required. All wheels banned. Complete and fully detailed rules will be posted when the vote is over in 2 weeks time. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Aw, I was hoping Tiamat would win. Shoulda gone after the flipper first instead of letting it get behind.
...Hmm, you know what might be fun? COTT 2, with no multibots.
At least she pulled off one victory in there, i'm happy. The match was awesome, great job Cuda. Did I not wire my hammers as Srimech also? Seems to me they shoulda fired. Or was Tiamat just not inverted enough to trigger them? I'm not griping or asking for a rematch. If I forgot, it was my own fault. Just curious. And I agree with no multibots when/if COTT 2 comes around. To me, that was part of the challenge in this, making an actual UHW. But, at the same time, I don't blame any of the multibotters. It was quite difficult to get all the way up to weight limit, or even close with one bot. Tiamat originally had a twin sister in Takhisis, but I decided against it.
