Modifications / Re: New Robot Wars Arena (In Progress!)

Sonny's Inane Request Time:

-Can you make a version where the floor flipper and dropzone are turned off, but all the other hazards work normally?
-Is the pit small enough to only fit 1 large robot at a time?
-Can you make the starting points be the edges and not the corners?

I'd love you forever if you could do those things.

I hate reskinning... what`s the best gmf compiler again?

If you're just changing the skin you don't need to decompile, you can just open the compiled version in Notepad++ and change the bmp name to anything else with the same number of characters, and it'll work.

At the same time, interviews and the likes weren't 80% of RW and Battlebots. The actual combat is secondary to this show in it's current format.

Keep in mind those robots didn't have just 20 mins to repair and there was A LOT more of them per show. There's only 12-14 of these big beasts and I'm no expert but they look a lot more technical and tougher to put together and repair, So naturally with this show they need to fill in the time with build-up.
You gotta admit, they could fill the time better.  For instance those practice dummies from the first ep were acceptable filler; an MMA trainer who talks like Rocky just took a lead pipe to the head, is not.  Or they could just cut it down to half an hour.

Dang now I want Robogeddon so bad. However I doubt it's going to happen.
Funny you should say that, because I was just thinking about the South Park episode where James Cameron fixes everyone's taste for crappy reality TV by literally raising the bar.

2.Example: Burst motor half inside the chassis and half out.

You don't want to do that, you'll get a major havok explosion when another bot brushes up against the exposed part.  The passthru thing I never figured out, but an easier way to get a component into a tight space is to use BFE'ing to move it around:

That episode was so bad I almost punched a hole in my TV screen.  Soon as I realized that the first half was going to be completely robot-less, I skipped ahead.  My god, every time they talked about the girl from Steampunk's mixed-race bastard son (ON THIS SHOW THAT'S SUPPOSEDLY ABOUT FIGTING ROBOTS), I shouted "F**k your son!!!"  In fact why stop there? F**k Chris Jericho, f**k the color commentator with his "unofficial scoreard," f**k confessionals, f**k country boy, f**k Medieval for failing to knock out the Steampunk stlut, f**k SighFy, f**k Real Steel, f**k George Lucas' daughter, f**k the time wasting MMA trainer from the first half, and f**k.  This.  Show.   But God bless Mark Setrakian for continuing to build complex & expensive robots just to see them get destroyed.  It'd be so great if I could airlift him out of there and then drop a nuke on wherever the show's being filmed.

It would've been the highlight of the night if they'd had to medivac the guy who got hydraulic fluid in his face.

Hmm, so it looks like the two motors furthest from the base are the only ones that work, so I guess I could just make the jaws stationary.

I'm in school so I don't have anything at the moment.  Hoping to go into finance once I graduate.  Sometimes I sell stuff on eBay for cash.

I'm trying to make a Wowot replica, and it has four servos all on the same chain; the shoulder joint, the elbow joint, and the pair of jaws.  The shoulder and elbow work fine until I attach the servos for the jaws; the then jaws work but the shoulder and elbow don't.  Is there some way of fixing this?

Thanks in advance.

i'm still waiting to see someone in the UK build a complete control style clamp and manhandle flippers out of the arena...
Doesn't it get progressively more difficult to do something like that as you move up the weight classes?

Am I stupid for not knowing how to get the wedges to slope off like that?

He built the robot sideways to make that shape then stuck in some weights so it would fall right way up.  The downside is that it can't turn.

Anyways here's Revolution 3.   It's a little tall, but I needed it big enough to accomodate the drum.

It's a reality show, so it doesn't fall under the game show laws.

Anvil, named because it could push an anvil with a 14 stone guy on it; no idea how much that is.

Nice ones!  I love Mega Morg especially, I assume that the body is a custom made component?  Can I have a copy of the modifed TDD motor?  I was thinking of doing some crusher replicas too.

'ey!  Welcome back.

Mine must have a bad rubber band or something because it just vibrates.

Nice, that model is pretty awesome looking.  The disc won't spin, but it still looks great on the mantle.

I thought you were supposed to finish algebra in high school.  The graph looks like crap but the problem is actually really straightforward as long as you don't shade anything till you're absolutely sure.
