STOP BYPASSING THE LANGUAGE FILTER. Meh. Everyone knows the words, anyway.
Meh. There's still no reason to bypass the filter. Just because everyone knows what naked people look like, doesn't mean they should walk around in public without clothes... I hope this doesn't become pervasive now that the secret's out.

:O Really? Didn't notice that. I was wondering where all that weight came from... now I know.
Edit: Changed vote to 90 DOP. Sorry whoever built Sygnosis... but my vote still doesn't make a difference if it's any consolation, and 90 DOP deserves a pity vote for originality.

ARGH so many good entries! How do you pick just one? 90 DOP is an awesome concept but could have been executed better... namely by putting the hammers on the other side, kind of like Halftone. Plus it could use a wedge. If it was just a bit better it would get my vote... ...but I have to go with Sygnosis. Despite the lack of wedge, it has a cool setup and enough weapons to outweapon certain opponents (a major issue for most side hammers). And 4WD + 4 hammers! Edit: Meh, I see my vote didn't really matter. Well, it's the principle of it. I sense a lot of people voting for "Meme of the Month". :P

I will be the first to admit that Hide's strategy is... not exactly cheap, according to Joe's definition, but abusive of the arena and loopholes in the rules and certainly cowardly. That's why I made it come out and attack after 1:30. So you only need to survive the blade for 90 seconds. (With any luck though, Seek and the blade will have softened you up a good deal by then. ) so it is the standard DSL Blade Arena ? I dont remember the Blade being powerful enough to oota UHW's
The blade is told to be unstoppable in the .py (not just near-infinite torque; there's actually a way to make it unstoppable), so anything that hits it, no matter how heavy, will be flung away at the same velocity at which the blade is spinning. That said, when I was testing Hide, it usually took many hits before a bot was flung OOTA. Most of the time the blade would just knock the opponent away and they would come back for another go. Only very fast bots that rammed the blade full force, and unstable vertical spinners, were flung OOTA right away (the VS's because their weapons tumbled them over the edge). Probably Steel Grinder's moderate speed combined with all those vertical spinners made it easy to fling OOTA. However, as I said, I think the lag also makes it easier to get OOTA's. I am surprised at Yoda's claim that Tiamat is flung OOTA so easily. Now, regarding the elimination issue: it is easily possible to edit the arena .py so Disk Hammer, Crocodile, and other bots are always eliminated when they get flung OOTA. Disk Hammer really should have been eliminated in that first fight with EFIE... BUT you could argue that if you fix that, you also have to fix the blade post collision, or leave the arena as is. If you decide to fix the elimination issue, just find this in the .py: #check to see if anyone has been "eliminated" by falling off the tabletop for each in self.players: if plus.getLocation(each)[1] < -5: plus.eliminatePlayer(each)
and change the -5 to a bigger number, like -3.

So his email expired? That would explain why I haven't heard back from him. I tried to explain that this was all just a misunderstanding, and the BBEANS site was never in danger of being taken down. I misunderstood ACAMS' comment about no more sites being hosted on GTM, and asked for clarification, and then Gigafrost misunderstood my misunderstanding, and the whole thing blew up like a chunk of sodium thrown into a pail of water. Lots of steam and fire, but not really a big deal at its core.
HEY GIGAFROST, if you're secretly lurking here and reading this thread, read that. ^ It's safe to stick around and finish your tournament.

STOP BYPASSING THE LANGUAGE FILTER. Everyone who knows the words can easily tell what you mean with the asterisks in, there's no reason to type the full words unless you're just trying to troll the staff, in which case I will have to take action. Being an expert modder doesn't exclude you from the rules. (Though since ACAMS wants this forum run leniently, "action" will likely consist of making a thread in the staff forum, starting a brief discussion with a few good ideas thrown out, and then things going on exactly the way they were before. Doesn't hurt to make threats though.)

In before SOTG.
(I wonder how powerrave feels about his girlfriend's name being used as a synonym for thread derailment.)
We already have a multitude of threads about homosexuality debates, guys. One of them even posted in just yesterday! We don't need any more. This is about ASPERGER'S SYNDROME and related conditions.

2 pinks are perfectly fine on 2-motor bots.
The Ninja rebuild looks great, kind of like ZodiaK.

Smallen down the chassis, Snapper Load the DDT off, place the baseplate extender in the slot where the DDt's hinge used to be, and attach the ramplate there via whatever means. If that's allready done, I'd recommend losing razors instead of a battery.
what is this i dont even You are SEVERELY underestimating the size of baseplate anchors if you think one will fit in the hinge slot in a DDT. And obviously know nothing about how collision mesh works. Also, explain how that chassis can be made any smaller, much less get 20 kgs out of it. Trading razors for a ramplate instead of a battery is better advice (at least it's POSSIBLE), but I still wouldn't do it. You would need to downgrade to 4 razors and the corners of the chassis would still be exposed.

bullsh** lost, stop watching after the first 10 seconds. I guess that's that.
Couldn't tell how the arena was prior to entering (from that top view I thought the walls are higher than that), and didn't know those blade is 1 hit oota or wouldn't have entered at all. Makes me feel stupid for even entering under those conditions.
I am surprise Click even made hide so big though.
Admit it, you would have done the same strategy if you thought of it. :P I was surprised though, that Steel Grinder got flung OOTA so easily. In testing, an OOTA only happened when a fast bot rams the blade head-on at full speed, and sometimes not even then. I suspect there was Havok at work here as well. I've noticed that bots tend to fly further and physics in general are more wonky when the game is lagging, and the game was definitely lagging in this case. I would be interested to know the results of our battle when Fraps isn't running. And I made Hide big because I thought the rule for multibots would be you lose if 50% of the weight is eliminated, so I made sure to make Hide heavier than Seek. I thought about entering just a single AW that hid under the blade and never came out, and let all the UHW's commit suicide on the blade... but I didn't want to be TOO cheap and controversial. At least with Seek out there, the opponent has something to attack and a way to win by points. And it is actually a UHW.

I like the HS with the E-tek. Completely and utterly overkill, but awesome because of that.
How powerful is it?

Well you certainly got the looking good part down. Is it better than Smashbox 2? Moros replica looks nice as well.

That flipper looks even cooler than the popup version. VERY nice bot.
I daresay it even looks cooler than my BTTB flipper.

I like the DDT arrangement on Gigabyte, but it needs a small wedge, and more razors, and 4WD.
I think tall chassises are a sorely under-explored concept. Keep the double row of DDTs and this could actually be a somewhat original and good popup.

How does the one with 1 battery do in the damage department? Since it's severely underpowered and all.
I don't think sacrificing a battery for a ram plate is worth it, since the chassis corners are still exposed, which is the part that gets hit most often.

I like the way that bot looks. Couple things about it though.
- the wedge is actually a hindrance. It creates a whole lot of exposed chassis, prevents you from hitting bots unless you get under them first, and if you do get under them, the razors will deliver only glancing blows. It would be better with a flat front.
- 1 Supervolt is much more efficient than 4-5 purples (or pinks if you insist on calling them that).

Popups and HS (and SnS) are still the most effective bot types in DSL. It's not really any different from stock. There are always other effective designs, but they are generally inferior to popups and HS if the two are built equally well.
IMO most of the current unrealism in DSL started when people realized that having a lot of small, light weapons was still better than having one, big weapon despite all the weapons being equally balanced. That and when I discovered how spin motor power consumption works, which enabled the current style of tiny-chassis-with-3-ants-and-everything-else-external.

I was wondering "what in the nine is this thread doing in M&D" but then i understood :P
How does it work exactly ? Did you put custom hovercrafts on the hammer arm ?
Those are custom servo pistons made by FB. He posted them a while back. The piston shaft is locked in place so the force goes into moving the body.

I knew it existed, but not that it still does. Nice find. Should go in Blast from the Past thread though.
