It's ready for Pre-loading for people who bought it on steam. Less then 5 days to go! :)

Without them we descend into anarchy. No other bots expect HS/SnS work with only one wheel and those are already OP, I think it's unfair to other types and we don't want people to think they need to build a HS/SnS to win a game/tournament.

15 is still the obvious minimum number of teams needed. Let's sort the rules out first then I'll be ready to receive teams from people and start a list of teams.

So, this is more about the builders than the actual bots then. Like, if inf just came in tomorrow and built a bot exactly like Absolute Chaos but with a smaller chassis, less extender work, and three blacks, Absolute Chaos would still be the first pick?

If someone has an upgraded version of their bot already made and isn't too different to the original then I will accept it, I'll probably accept updates when it's released for a version 2 anyway. I want the pack to be competitive for most part but I also want most people to recognize most the bots.

It's also a good way for people too measure up their skills against other members.

1. I agree with the bots existing already. This is supposed to be a historic kind of pack, not a new Starcore pack or something like that.
Perhaps we could allow for updates for a version 2.
2. Using all 6 slots might be tough for some people. Maybe if a user really can't come up with 6 they should be allowed to split a team with someone else 3-3
That would be tough considering that we will be using team pics/motto's.
5. You aren't allowed to do AI packs if you won't AI people's bots. This is how it has always been.
Wasn't aware of that, weren't some like re-stocked a joint effort?
9. This is tough because of tournament AI packs. These are the bots that originally concieved this idea, they are famous because they were in tournaments. Ex: You can't have a Kill343 team without Stratocaster (BBEANS AI) First of all it's the only thing I'm known for, and second of all I don't have any other bots.
Hence the try, I just wanted to see some new bots instead of it being BBEANS AI 2 if you know what I mean.
10. This ties in to 9. Crawlers should be allowed for special occasions. They need to be well known. Sage's Bumblebee if he so chooses, for example.
Perhaps 1 crawler in the pack, but hopefully no complaints about others wanting their crawler in the pack too.
11. No. Each team should have a LW, MW, and HW. Other three can be anything from AW to SHW
This is tough, some people don't build certain weights. I like to stick to the lighter weight classes and I have 0 MW's I can use (I lost Dinner's Ready for good sadly) and I'm sure some people might not have LW's.

Discussion / Re: What do you mod? (2012)
« on: September 14, 2012, 03:58:50 PM »
-How much experience do you have in a specific category?
I have enough experience AI'ing to be able to AI basic bots (nothing fancy though). I have reskinned arena's and components before too.

-What do you want to learn more about?
Arena Modding.

-What do you like modding in?
I don't mind AI'ing every now and then, I have enjoyed putting some AI packs together.

-What mod types are you most interested in getting?
Arena's that provide us with new gameplay options.

-What is favorite mod? (more specific than just DSL unless talking about the GIB work)
Robo Zone Arena :) it has 2 brand new modes which can be toggled simply by the hazard check box.

Then I would wait until I do :P I'm positive at least 20 (19 as I will have a team) people will want to be a part of the AI pack.

Your best/coolest is what I meant by notable as they are the ones that get attention :) If you want to join I'm going to start a progression thread in "Modifications and designs" with rules of submissions etc. soon once it's planned out.

Perhaps 3 bots per team? and the builders with more notable bots can get 2 teams IE Team Sage and Team Sage 2.

lol 6 notable stock bots for me???

I have faith that we can find 6 worthy bots from you. perhaps Pinhole for an AW? :) PitA 8 for a HW.

I'd suggest Ancient Curse and Grinding Noise as well. Can't actually think of any memorable LW stock bots he's made.

lol I can think of one, "Evil Eye" that one-wheeled 9 mace HS (and Pinhole is actually a LW multi-bot).

So you'll make three different arenas starting from the same, one for each mode ?

Nope We already have 2 modes available within the one arena, gauntlet mode is the Robo Zone arena with hazards on. I wanted it this way to make it easier to toggle between the normal Robo Zone rumble and gauntlet mode. I'm hoping the tag team mode could be enabled just by using the Robo Zone arena in a tag team match.

Each members team will contain the 6 most iconic bots from that person as decided on by the community, these bots can come from showcases, BOTM and/or tournaments. It should have at least 20 teams and should include:
do i even have 6 notable bots ?

If you don't you could nominate some that you would like to be included. If you've done well in a tournament with a bot it would be preferred along with most commented bots from your showcase.

Basically I want people to go through the bots and go "oh I remember that one". If you think people know about a certain bot then it's notable, like I think most people know about my bot H.A.N.N.A.H despite it only having one match in an unfinished tournament so it will feature on my team.

Seems like a good idea. Maybe this could get people interested in Stock again, since Starcore doesn't appear to be moving forward, ReStocked is near completion, but looks stagnant at the moment. Depends how quickly things can move along. Would there be the usual LW/MW/HW trio, with three extra bots of no particular weight class? It might be a bit of a tough task if some members only built in specific weight classes because of personal preferences.

No restrictions on weight (I have only built like 3-4 MWs total and only 3-4 decent HWs so my team would have no MW), however I would prefer it if all the top members had at least 1 LW, 1 MW and 1 HW.

Sure. I'll be glad to help by making my own Team.

I think you missed the point, these are meant to be iconic bots not new bots built just for the AI pack.

With Starcore, PYS and INF not around much (or at all) any more I feel like a huge gap has been left in the community, where will the next stock AI pack come from? Well as you all know I tend to have a lot of free time so I have decided to work on a stock GTM (gametechmods) AI pack. This pack will include 6 bots from many members they can have any weight classes in their team.

Each members team will contain the 6 most iconic bots from that person as decided on by the community, these bots can come from showcases, BOTM and/or tournaments. It should have at least 20 teams and should include:

Team ACAMS
Team Starcore
Team Clickbeetle
Team Firebeetle
Team Sage
Team INF
Team PYS
Team Scrap Daddy
Team PWN
Team Robosh4rk
Team Naryar
Team JoeBlo
Team Somebody
Team SSG
Team S32
Team NFX
Team Virus Bomb
Team Jack Daniels
Team S_M
Team Vertigo
etc.

I'd love to learn this stuff, perhaps we need some RA2 school topics in the mods section with modders giving tutorials and holding Q&A in the topic. Perhaps if we all try and learn how to mod together the community will see the benefits with brand new gameplay.

I've always wanted some RA2 boss levels with tactics etc. just you vs one big bad bot on his home turf. The boss bot could be given special unique abilities for you to try and counter, such as lava walls that you have to dodge or special AoE's that you need to line of sight in order to avoid damage. These abilities could happen ever 30+ seconds while the rest of the match is just you battling the boss bot normally.

Also just imagine how fun single player tournaments would be if it was like this:

Soccer        - Joust          - Gauntlet
Race           - Tug-of-War  - Robo Zone
Boss Battle   - Tag Team    - Maze

I'm yet to show Trovaner the idea, I figured he's already done so much but maybe if another modder was nice enough to implement this mode it could happen :) I like to think I have a lot of cool ideas floating around in my head but I have 0 modding knowledge sadly and just AI'ing gives me headaches... it's really kind of frustrating >.<

for a second I thought Gauntlet mode would be like the RW gauntlet... D:

I'm a big gladiators fan so the mode gets the name from that (the game where they had to get past multiple gladiators in a tunnel). I'm also a Wrestling fan which is where I got the idea for the Robo Zone arena from (elimination chamber match).
