LOL, I never thought of trapping a bot in the shield and immobilizing it. And I'm guessing the shield didn't block the compressor either because it was intersecting something it shouldn't have been when you created it, or a component on some bot had broken. It's glitchy like that.

But they also do damage to the chassis on rammers. Which only use momentum if I'm figuring this right.

But obviously razors do damage to the chassis. This is all very confusing.

The cat in the background image looks exactly like one of my two cats. Seriously.
And don't worry overmuch about the music--not every AI pack needs new music. In fact most don't...

OK, now I'm really pissed.
Trov said that people couldn't do that for the 256 bot tourney and now Click is letting Jonz do it...
I give up.
Did he? I thought picking bots off the exchange was allowed. Like Hot Wheels, Nuclear Fallout, and other bots like that. You just have no guarantee that if your bot is on the exchange, it will get picked. However, if people start using the exchange simply as a file host for making direct entries, then this WILL be locked.

That sound has been around since the beta version of DSL 1.0, and it was never said who did it. I doubt we'll ever know.

Argh. I can't seem to get a good Splash that I like for my bot. I'll work on it a bit more tomorrow.
Heh. I can't seem to get a good bot that I like for my splash. I had a kind of cool idea for an all-terrain shell spinner for the Mars Base arena, but first it was a Havok bomb and then it was an AGOD bomb. Probably won't be entering this one...

AntonYYYm could easily outwedge death of Angels because it can get inbetween DOA's wedges.
Huh, not on my computer... I did a lot of off-the-record battles to try and predict who would win, and DoA outwedged AntonYYYm 100% of the time. Also, if BBEANS is 75% matchup, then why does Seism 13 win every one of those unofficial 128-bot tourneys it's in?

Ok. I'd seen them used in backlash so I didn't know. Could I put saws on it?
No, probably would be even worse.
Face Gasher. Just needs FBS.py and you're good to go. I must say the SnS has quite good space management. Keep that up.

I commend your ability to be constantly improving Havok while keeping the basic T-shaped design the same, steering away from Second Sentinel klones. Also, I don't think anyone else has ever made as many as 19 complete iterations of one bot. The next most iterations I can think of would be Urjak's Bane series. Go for the 20!

First glance: Whoa, that's an awesome-looking LW.
Second glance: Oh wait that's got to be a MW. Still awesome though.
Third glance: WHAT it's a HW? ...Yeah, still awesome.
I also question the realism though, as it looks like you've got four discs there. You probably need to put the Perms a bit further apart.

Whoa a DSL bot from sage.
For a failbot, it looks pretty good. Probably too much weight on too small of a weapon motor though. (10kg beaters right?)
A better weapon setup is to put beaters on the edge disc attach points by the end attach point, and more beaters on the face disc attach points by the side attach point. That way they both hit at the same time and if one breaks, it won't take the other with it.

You seem to have forgotten the piercing and concussion values... total DP isn't everything.
I haven't forgot. I will write that example if you want to see it. The point of this is to show how you can add complexity into the game.
Do we even know what piercing and concussion do? I've heard a lot of theories but none of them have been officially tested as far as I know. From all the testing I've done, there is no detectable difference between piercing and concussion. They do equal damage to both chassis and components (with concussion multiplied by 1.839 as in the DP formula) and they both return damage at the same rate. The relationships between concussion weapons, flail piercing weapons, and piercing weapons may have more to do with HP/DP balance than with piercing and concussion. (And has this relationship even been formally tested or is it just a general observation?) Anyways, that's a nice explanation 123, really makes clear what you're talking about. And I'm excited to see what Trovaner's been researching. I remember hearing about it several months ago... if he's been researching that long, it's gotta be good.

Edit: It's kinna sad, but It causes major problem when it is destroyed, mainly that it stays there until it falls under the arena floor, sometimes dragging the bot inside with it. So as cool as it is I cannot include it.
Oh well... I had a feeling it would be too good. I made it before I even heard of Space Arena, just for fun, and figured I'd post it just in case it could be useful.

Anyone remember those El Tonno robots that enjoyed a brief period of popularity on the old Atari forums?
This is kind of like that. But in a tournament setting... it will be extremely interesting to see what people churn out.
Question: do the arms have to move (be on bursts or servos)? And are there any length restrictions or can you have stubby T-Rex arms?

UPDATE: I got some AI'ing done this morning. First post has been updated accordingly. If there's anybody that can give me a hand with FBS_1, that would be much appreciated.
FBS_2 is better IMO... does basically the same thing but it's simpler to use. (But I am biased because I wrote FBS_2.) For FBS_1 I believe you need 3 analog controls, "LeftRight" like normal, "Ahead" for throttle, and "Spin" for SnSing. Optional Bindings parameters are 'PreSpinEntrance', which is how long the AI should wait to start SnSing at the beginning of the match (so it can get closer to the middle of the arena), 'ReMobilizeRoutineTime(10-60)', which has something to do with how the bot unsticks itself when it's getting immobilized (not sure exactly how it works), and 'range' which is just range.

I'm not asking for bots... They can send if they want...
There's so little difference there, they may as well be the same thing. Now I'm pretty sure you can grab bots off the exchange and use those with no problem... so anyone who wants bots in this can upload some bots and hope you pick them. Just no formal entries.

If you continue to ask for and receive bots, then it will be locked.
Basically you have to nab bots without the builders necessarily knowing you are doing it.

I used to have a joystick hooked up (a very OLD joystick, like from the early '90s old, so it's nothing to do with the age of your controller) and it did the same thing. It's a pain trying to input the controls, but once you get it, the bots control just fine (except for some random jitters when you're not moving).

Best way to do housebots (really the ONLY way as far as I know) is to put them in the .gmf like the rover in the Mars Base and Mad's housebots in the Pittsfield arena.
However, that method is problematic in its own way.
