I know it's insignificant, and probably won't change a lot if it's fixed, but, for some reason, I really dislike people like Mr Test and Sergebot getting +100 and stuff. I mean, yes, I know they do a good job, and I know that without them, this forum would be in quite a sticky place, but surely the whole meaning of the top 5 most applauded is to see, IDK, who is the top 5 most applauded? Ignore me if you want, it just gets under my skin.

(My god am I bored)

Well, first off, you could credit Shennanigma for actually using the bugger. Or thank him, bare minimum.

BRING THE PIKACHU MEME BACK!

It's been really overused when it was still alive... what makes you think it's still going to be funny for long?

I raise an ME up 1 click, put on a polycarb extender, and attach the disc.
Surely using an upside-down Baseplate Extender would be more weight-effective? Even with the chassis bloating in mind, It's still a more weight-effective method.

New one coming your way.

Oh, while making this, I found a glitch;

STOP THE LIGHTS FROM TURNING ON IN TEST CHAMBERS

When you come out the entry from a test chamber, shoot a portal on the floor, then anywhere away from the door on the map. Jump through the portal in such a way so the door doesn't close, and when you do that, the lights shouldn't come on.

I've got one, plus a few more in the workings. This one was just really testing the system of making maps.

Ooh, Finnish swearing- wonder what it means?  Did a quick check, and I know it involves something along the lines of "????", but I can't quite pinpoint it.

Does this count? I've been reviewing games for about eight years now on my site.

Yeah, that counts. Actually, that's not a half bad review you've got there. That Portal 2 is so relateable.

Well, it's been a long time since I've done one of these. And, since I'm feeling nostalgic, I'm playing something from the 90's. So, bust out your Palm Pilots and get out your indoor sunglasses, 'cause we're gonna play...

Ah yes, Tomb Raider. The theme alone make me feel nostalgic. The sheer atmosphere created when playing this game is incomparable to any other franchise. The original 4, Plus Legend on the PS2, remain a solid benchmark in my childhood.

Graphics - 8/10 - this game's graphics were jaw-dropping when it came out in 1996. The areas are detailed and atmospheric, with the music (or sometimes lack of) simply adding to the game's style. There are a few places where the graphics can be a bit skew-whiff, but it's a very well built game.

Sound - 7/10 - The soundtrack for this game is something of admiration to me. From the Opening Song to the final battle, the soundtrack doesn't accompany your emotions, but rather accompanies the character's emotions, making a more solid bond with said character. There are places where the music feels out of place, and at that point is where the game falls short; but, when the music does fit, it leads for an either chilling or high-octane experience.

Gameplay - 4/10 - The gameplay in this game is where the game falls a bit short, for me at least. The controls are clunky and the hard to get accustomed to. But, I can't really hold any grudges; this game was made before Dualshock came out, so you can expect the clunkiness that usually comes with analog play. Like I said, the controls and finnicky, but after a few minutes of play, you adapt to them, and begin to learn the intricacies of the game not via tutorial, but via simple human discovery, much like how Lara Croft discovers the Scion. The gameplay and difficulty of this game can be punishing at times, and melodic at others; there is no set-out difficulty curve, and that can lead to some finnicky moments, plus with the controls... Ehh, I'm don't really like it.

Story - 10/10 - The story is amazing. It's no cardboard cut-out 'Hurr stop a villian' either. It has a deep, engaging storyline that has Lara Croft traveling around the world to stop an immortal Atlantean demon, named Natla, from taking over existence. Not just the world, but existence. The storyline has you going through countless goons of Natla, but with each one having their own distinct reasons, and each one being kind of connectable with. It's like the Hunger Games; when the hero kills somebody in the Hunger Games, you don't feel a sense of accomplishment, you feel a sense of sadness for the simple fact that he had to such a thing, and Tomb Raider had that 16 years prior. The storyline is perfect, and I can't think of any way to improve it.

FINAL SCORE:

Graphics: 8
Sound: 7
Gameplay: 4
Story: 10

OVERALL SCORE: 7/10 (A-)

Another thing I noted...

Efficiency? In my IRL?

...You are mocking efficiency, then why are you using a mix of the most efficient weapon components for your weapon and efficient batteries in an "IRL" bot ?

Also why does that bot has only 3 ant batts when it needs 5 to be correctly powered IRL ? 3 ant batts = 3 spin motors, even if the game tells you otherwise, IS one of the hallmarks of DSL realistic.

Also why is the weapon's axle floating in the air without any support ? That's not IRL because in real life the belt would just fall, with the weapon as well.

You call yourself an IRL builder and mock efficiency but yet still build with DSL standard efficient building techniques ?

Adding wheelguards, decals and not using metal hinges doesn't make a bot IRL. An IRL bot is a bot that would work in real life just like AND just as well as it works in the game, with the exception of glitches,

Ok, Noob Bashing 101, Naryar.

If you're going to insult my bots for being rubbish, don't give the green flag to other robots that are worse off than this. That's called being hypocritical, Naryar, and you seem to have a quite a knack for being so. I mean, if you're gonna give THIS merits:

For having a cool-ish chassis, and yet completely and utterly rip into mine when they are clearly two opposite sides of the (ZX) Spectrum, I might as well give up right here.

Also, TBH, I actually couldn't care less about 'Hurr fully powered' or not. It has 3 batteries and it works fine, and changing it would acheive nothing.

I used the efficient components for a reason, Nar. I was trying to demonstrate that efficient components are only efficient when used correctly. And as such, this robot's weapon is absolute crap.

The axle is floating in mid-air because 90% of the time the majority of the weapon's mass is inside the chassis, which would make the robot's belt support be the actual chassis, rather than additional extenders.

I never mocked efficiency, Naryar. I simply said that more often than not Efficiency and IRL mix like a black man at an EDL meeting. And are you honestly trying to tell me that there haven't been underpowered bots IRL? Is that really what you're trying to tell me, Nar?

TL;DR:
Get Out.
