I haven't seen a robot like this one before, so I'm gonna show you Spiderbait, which has no rotary motors at all. It rests on three sledgehammers on the underside of the robot, and the way it moves is, the Snappers push the sledgehammer feet downwards, and lift the robot off the ground, while the DDT's that the Snappers are directly attached to move the 'feet' backwards, propelling the bot along. When the DDT's retract, the Snappers lift the feet up, so the bot rests on the sledgehammers on the bottom again. It uses an alternate feet movement, that is, the front and back feet on one side, and the middle foot on the other. It scores surprisingly well in combat, given that it doesn't actually have any parts that act solely as weapons, everything is more or less used to move the bot forwards. At the moment it doesn't move backwards at all, and the turning is veeeeeeeeery slow. And I've had to use plastic armour to let me keep the sledgehammers there. Really, it's not been made to win matches, more just to see if the idea would actually work.
So anyway, here is Spiderbait. =)

I'm gonna vote number 6. Number 7 definitely looks the business, but I just prefer the concept of 6, I guess.

Thanks. =) I can't get the razors pointing the same way, but I can have them 180 degrees with each other, which seems to work fine. I can still get 2 or 1-hit Knockouts with this setup. 12466

Been busy with the BBEANS AI pack recently, and here's a slightly inproved (hopefully) version of HaleStorm. I tried reskinning a snowplow to cover the side wheels, but it didn't entirely work, so I decided to stick a couple of ramplates on the front for some protection against the HS's. 2 Stacked Blackvolts, 4 Z-Teks, 4 DDT's, 20 Razors, and DSA. Also self-righting.

The way I do it, is while it's in the bot lab, press Shift + PrtSc (Print Screen), then go into an image editing program, like MS Paint, and then press Ctrl + V.

That happens with Orbital Delivery Vehicle in the Starcore AI packs sometimes. And the game's damage calculator doesn't take mass into account, so probably use Iron Spikes on the tribars instead. Use the extra 120 kg for other stuff. =)

I'm not entirely sure what patch I have, to be honest. And I'll see what I can do to improve it. =) Also been working on a 6WD rammer, I'll put it up here soon.

I've started trying some new things with the DSL mod, largely due to signing up for BBEANS 6, and I'm gonna see how I can improve. Here's the first real competitive bot I've come up with, Spin Doctor. 2 E-Tek Drive motors, 2 E-Tek weapons motors, and 3 PC565 batteries, combined with 2 AW batteries (Had a little weight left over) means that the power output is almost bang on the power drain of the motors. Will probably replace the Base Anchors at some point.

I think the theory of the back discs might be if the bot tips over onto its back, then the snowplow scoops them up into them. I'm not sure if it'll work, the snowplow seems to be attached the wrong way. But getting back to the BlackVolt stacking, replace the Iron Spikes with Razors (less weight, pretty much equal performance), then you should have enough weight left to get two BlackVolts in there.

Yeah, that's not gonna be enough. Lose the pinks and try to double stack the Blackvolts. If you're REALLY lucky, you might get a triple stack, I did that with the Nifty once. =)

I'll team up with Larrian, if that's alright. I'm new to team tourneys, and I'm in need of a partner myself. Maybe we could both help each other along in a sense. =)

Real Robotics Discussion / Re: 10 Best Robot Wars Matches« on: April 14, 2010, 05:34:31 AM »
Lolbump.
By the way, Tornado's frame wasn't intended to stop it going down the pit, it was built so that Razer's beak wouldn't reach the actual machine itself. More of an anti-crusher assembly than an anti-pit. I'm really not that sure about the top ten, but one of the matches in mine would definitely be Hypno-Disc vs. Firestorm III, UK Series 5 Play-Off for third place. Firestorm had gone through more matches than anyone in the series, having to fight its way back from the loser's melee, both machines were pretty beat up, the fight barely lasted a minute, but it was fast and completely mental in that match. Firestorm even had a crack at Sir Killalot at one point. 12479

I don't really mind how BBEANS 7 turns out. I'm guessing the next few tournaments I enter would probably be more of a learning curve for me, rather than anything else.
