I also noticed that RW was anti-american to a degree. They usually picked the worst US bots to fight in the international events, with the exceptions being the second world championship, and some of the bots from the Fourth wars special.

But you cant Battlebots isnt anti british. A lot of british bots winning on BB never got shown on TV

Many of the fights weren't shown on TV.
Indeed. That was one of my complaints (Not showing all the fights), and when they did have Series with British robots, they usually only showed the ones where they lost.

True.

Of course, Robot Wars is still awesome. :)
Indeed, that's something we can both agree on

Oh, didn't notice that.

On the other hand, Robot Wars had the interesting technical stuff, particularly within the Series 2-5 era, where the roboteers themselves lifted the lids on the robots, rather than having Bill Nye (I think) cutting away from the battle to state the obvious. They had more fights too, so overall, it had more of a focus on the robots themselves- one of the things that for me, makes engineering cool for its viewers.
but it wasn't interesting it was boring filler. at least battlebots's filler had tits
Are boobs, lel and Kill all you think about?
no i'm saying that in battlebots the viewer actually had something to look at during the filler instead of being bored to death by technobabble that only technophiles find interesting.
It's a good idea, but in practise, they put a bit too much focus on what you mentioned, resulting in it kind of eating into the time they could used for the battles.
And even then, Robot Wars' filler wasn't as long or boring as you made it out to be, either. I mean, I'm no technophile with twelve Phds in Engineering, but I did find the parts where they showed how the robots work to be quite fascinating. Guess it's a matter of different tastes, right?

And? So was Extreme Warriors- did you see Rebecca Grant in the War of Independence? Anti-British as anything, and when she presented the trophy to the Pussycat team at the end, she sounded like someone had died.

It was also there to an extent in Battlebots- most notably with Electra's comments about Warhead after it lost to Overkill. And likewise- they often made sure to show the fights where the American Robots beat the British ones.

They also had segments on the builders themselves. On one tape I have, they talked about how Andy Sauro bought "Slap 'Em Silly" online. I found one about Carlo Bertocchini's "suit" he made for his cat on Team Nightmare's website.
That's what I was referring to when I mentioned the wacky backstories of the builders shoving the main content to one side. Not saying that Battlebots is bad of course, but between it and Robot Wars, the latter wins out for me.

@GF93, I've been meaning to ask. Are you still 6ft3? If so, I've managed to catch up with you now!
Round about I'm guessing, but I think I've grown a little since then.

I just feel like that RW had more of a bias to it, especially with the house robots (which were mostly there for show). Do you recall any unfair decisions in battlebots?
Ah, but were there any bits in Battlebots that focussed on the technical aspects of the robots themselves, rather than on Carmen Electra's rack?

Christian Carlberg had segments showing the inner workings of a sample bot.
There was that, but even then, from the Battlebots episodes I've watched, it seemed to have more of a focus on the showmanship and wacky backstories of the robot builders rather than on the robots themselves, and particularly with the last season, Carmen Electra. Seriously, there'd only be three battles per episode, whilst Robot Wars usually had about eight, and Electra was even worse than Jayne Middlemiss.

Battlebots is a competition, while Robot wars is a game show.

RIP Mr. AS & GF93.
Good thing I had my experimental Anti-dead Potion with me- I should definitely market it   ;)

In all seriousness though Madman, that's how I like to do it- I build realistically. I find it more rewarding, realistic ones tend to look better, and they often gets better ratings, too.

Who was Bill the Spam Slayer?
He was a little stick-figure character I made up as a joke against him and some other morons some time ago (He's the little guy on the right in "**** You Bill"), whom they disliked.
How did you manage to piss them off so bad? And why?
I think that was the catalyst for it. Anyway, it was from when I was younger- they were basically idiot spammers whom I made fun of. They got angry and reacted immaturely, I made some things with Bill to have a little fun with them, and next thing I know, he's made an account dedicated to hating me    =P

@GF93, Look on the brightside, your the highlight of his life!
Indeed- even at the time, I found it hilarious that somebody was actually sad enough to dedicate an account to hating me. Looking back on it, it's even more so   :laughing

Another thing about the Transformers live-action films which infuriated me was how in the third film, all of the most important and iconic Decepticons were taken out by humans.

Dishonourable mention goes to the pathetic excuse of a death they gave Starscream- at the hands of Sam Witwicky.

WTF is wrong with my dreams? ._.
Just when I thought you couldn't be any more odd...you hate cats as well?
