There was a UK vs US show in RW at some point. The UK obviously won, as Mentron made sure the US bots were crap.
There was also an unaired episode with Razer in with all the other all-stars, ie Tazbot, Biohazard, Nightmare, Blendo...
You consider Tazbot and Blendo to be some of our best robots...?
Tazbot was pretty good. I know it beat the sh** out of Razer at one of the 99 Battlebots events.

"It’s not, in the end, fair to compare Battlebots and Robot Wars in their 2000 incarnations, since it’s obvious that four years of network exposure will lead to more interest and entries than a rookie show on a cable channel. There have been a couple of attempts before to pit British and American robots against each other, and the lack of American experience has been obvious. However, before we get too cocky, perhaps we should remember how we used to regularly win the Ryder Cup too… I’ve no doubt that the Americans’ day will come.
That's funny too.
The devil's in the details. The guy was comparing Series 4 of Robot Wars to Season 1.0 of Battlebots - the erstwhile most recent things from their respective countries. I'm going to gander that the PPV and underground US RW competitions weren't available for viewing at the time in England. So it IS fair to say that at the time, Battlebots was the "rookie" show. Even if you include untelevised battlebots competitions, that still comes out to 3 competitions over 2 years against Robot Wars' 4 series over 4 years. Also remember that the only UK vs US occurence was that crappy bot Prometheus from the 1st world championship
What I found funny was that he apparently had knowledge of that fact that RW had started in the US 6 years earlier, and yet he made it sound like the Americans where just starting to get interested in something that they had already perfected first. That, and the fact that most of the robots that ended up winning championships at the first few BB competitions either had competed in the US Robot Wars or were built by those that had.

The amount of times he contradicts himself in that article is comical. Well, maybe once or twice, but still pretty lel.

What weight class would you want the "box" robot to be in?

TaN was a pretty genius, while somewhat boring design. Clampers/jaws had been used as weapons before, but making your whole robot the Jaw?That's just awesome insanity.

God, I keep finding these amazing links for the BBWiki, I found one today that had a summary of EVERY season 4.0 prelim fight, but web archive only saved about a sixth of them
at least the ones saved were good ones...
Also the BattleBots forum (the really old delphiforum one, not the new one) had a bunch of good links and stuff too. Found the Techno Destructo site, which gave me the final battle I need to complete Little Blue Engine's page (they clashed in 3.0).
le link get

One of my favorites
others in no specific order. Mangi, Ripto 3, SubZero, Dead Metal (the RW housebot), Witch Doctor
Woo, someone with favorite robots built less than ten years ago.
Yeah I really don't understand the idolization of old robots and the belief that Hypno Disc could take on and beat any 220...
Also throw in HotStuff and Diesector.
Didn't Disector become Karcas or Vice Crypt, or whatever that thing is called? As far as my favorite bots go, modern stuff would have to be Enforcer Sewer Snake Hot Stuff (aka Sublime 2 electric boogaloo) Battlebots robots would be Biohazard Tazz Grendel and UK RW Panic Attack King Buxton Killhurtz I guess you could say that I really like lifters...

Not so much the fact that he likes it (I mean, everyone's entitled to an opinion), and I'd have been alright with it had it just kept the first part, but it's more that second TAN FOREVAR bit that I quoted that irked me a little.
Why are you still butthurt about TAN? You don't hear me complaining about cheap losses from my favorite robots, like when Dr. Inferno Jr. beat Wedge of Doom for the LW season 5 championship even though WEDGE OF DOOM WAS CLEARLY DOMINATING! HONESTLY! YOU CAN'T HAVE A ROBOT WIN JUST BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE IS SMOKING A LITTLE! THAT THING WORKED FINE EVEN WHILE IT WAS SMOKING! LEARN TO FKING JUDGE!
I mean, seriously.
It wasn't a judging failure, it was obvious that they wanted Dr. Inferno to win the championship because it was a crowd favorite. That being said it was still a pretty cool bot, all of Jason Bardis's creations have been pretty cool and full of charm, while still being effective. My favorite bots are probably TaN (legitimately, I really liked the design), Mantis, Complete Control, Tetanus Booster, and Thermidor 2.
TAN FOREVER TAN > CHAOS 2
Then you'd probably like this guy as well.

I can't think of a single robot that I dislike.
(Image removed from quote.) You know just the thought of it makes you cringe.
That trick only works with Al...

I have no problem with regular furries, that dress up, but the ones that think they are animals, humping chair legs and looking at furry porn? Too far.
True Furryism is based around a sexual fetish (something you cannot help), the "regular" ones ARE the ones that "look at" Furry Porn, and so what if they do? It doesn't harm you in any way unless they're trying to force it down your throat (COUGH COUGH) which not all of them do. As far as humping chair legs goes I have no idea where the fack you got that from.

I remember there was an edit war or something like that later on, but I'm referring to the original pink glasses edit.
